I'm running openSUSE 11.1, with KDE 4.3.00. My Kopete, version 0.70.90, disconnects and reconnects to my jabber server several times a minute.
The jabber server, running the latest version of Openfire, is on the same gigabit subnet as the openSUSE machine in question. I can successfully connect to other IM services (MSN, Yahoo, etc) with no trouble. I also have no trouble with any other network service, from NFS to IMAP. I have other (Windows / Miranda IM) clients connecting to this same jabber server, all without trouble.
It drives me nuts, and it drives everyone else on my buddy list nuts too, as they see constant offline/online notifications for my user.
I'm using Kopete as my IM manager with the Skype plugin. I used the One Click Install tool to install Skype4py and than I enabled Skype in Kopete. Every time I try to enable Skype within Kopete I get an error box that says, "no Skype". OS: 11.2 64bit
I'm using openSUSE 11.3 (x86_64), KDE 4.4.4 "release 3" and Kopete 4.4.4-1.4. When i try to connect to ICQ it says "bad password" don't connect and it writes to console "
vitus@linux-z3xp:~> kopete Connecting to deprecated signal QDBusConnectionInterface::serviceOwnerChanged(QString,QString,QString) kopete(14348)/kio (KDirWatch) KDirWatchPrivate::removeEntry: doesn't know "/home/vitus/.kde4/share/apps/kabc"
[Code].....
but it did not work. I have also tried to delete kopete configuration files and reinstall program, but it also didn't work
Ihave using kopete 0.80 in kde 4.3.1 on OpenSuse 11.2 i added my yahoo id & password to kopete yahoo account. but nothing happens? i am still offline and i can not see my contacts id
now I got a problem with kopete.. before this I'm using OpenSuSE 11.2 .. there are no problem at all... after i do the the upgrade to 11.3 and there is one issue .. always crash after I put the status ONLINE.. What should I do? a snapshot screen after I click ONLINE...
Just curious because I have one built into my laptop. I want a linux client that will allow my camera to participate in web chat with yahoo and Windows live messenger.
I can view my webcam in the configuration setting in kopete, but I'm not able to view my cam on skype, it keeps on showing a gray screen! I tried almost go through on the web about this.
Doesn't matter what application I am using this thing locks up tighter than a prison cell. I can't seem to do anything but reboot at that point. 11.2 never had this problem on this computer. I'm running a nvidia gt 220 card without the nvidia driver. Could this be the problem? I really don't know what to do about it. I was running the default kernel, but switched to the pae kernel as I have 4 gig of memory. Still locks up.
Probably should have stuck with 11.2 for a while longer, but at this point I would like to get 11.3 working. If not I will just go back to 11.2.
I am still new to linux and just installed opensuse 11.1 and all was fine untill I went to yast, software and ran the online update. Now when I boot up linux it takes a long time and after suse is booted up the HDD led is constant. I did know enough to add VGA=normal in grub and this is what is is displayed when it hangs:
<6>ata1: SATA max UDMA/133 cmd 0x9f0 ctl 0xbf0 bmdma 0xd800 irq 21 <6>ata2: SATA max UDMA/133 cmd 0x970 ctl 0xb70 bmdma 0xd808 irq 21 <4>ata1: link is slow to respond, please be patient (ready=-19) <3>ata1: SRST failed (errno=-16) <6>ata1: SATA link up 3.0 Gbps (SStatus 123 SControl 300) <4>ata1: link online but device misclassified, retrying ..... <4>ACPI: PCI Interrupt Link [ASA1] enabled at IRQ 20 <6>sata_nv 0000:00:0e.1: PCI INT B -> Link[ASA1] -> GSI 20 (level, low) -> IRQ 20 <5>sata_nv 0000:00:0e.1: Using SWNCQ mode <7>sata_nv 0000:00:0e.1: setting latency timer to 64
It looks like it has something to do with the HDD. I Have 2 HDD's in the computer with linux on the second drive. I also noticed that before updating I could access my ntfs partitions in nautilus and now they do not show up and are not in my fstab file and I do not know how to add them back in.
Just after I boot up I get this wierd HDD activity that lasts for some time during which my system runs at snail Pace and or Hangs. After a while the activity stops and things are good and then randomly it all starts again. I have read some forum post on constant HDD activity but they do not seem to apply to my problem. I am Running 11.3 with a quad core AMD 64bit CPU and 4GB of memory.
I'm not sure if this started with the 2.6.34.4 or 2.6.34.7 update, but one of those. At random intervals the USB subsystem disconnects. When that happens the monitor screen goes black (no input signal) and then returns 1 - 2 seconds later. This was happening every once every 1 - 2 days; today the count is 10 times. It's gotten really annoying. There is a topic about USB mouse and keyboard becoming unavailable due to recent kernel updates. That is not the issue here; I have tried disabling USB auto-suspend with no observable change in behavior.Or could it be that I have a defective mouse?
It's a bit unnerving. The monitor suddenly goes black, the keyboard resets, the mouse resets. And after about 2 - 3 seconds all is back to normal. My USB setup is a bit complicated (mostly because I could). A 7 port hub is connected to a USB port on the computer. Among other things, the 7 port hub is connected to a four port hub on the monitor (Viewsonic). The mouse is connected to the 4 port hub. The PS1 keyboard is connected to the PS1-to-USB convertor which is connected to the 4 port hub.
I am trying to run VNC server on a standard OpenSUSE 11.2 Gnome Desktop installation.I have done this succesfully with SLES for sometime, however, my experience with OpenSUSE 11.2 is that it doesn't work out of the box!!
I am using XP Pro VNC viewer Free Edition 4.1.2 to connect.
I have removed "localhost" from the # special IPv6 addresses in hosts. This fixes the black screen issue for me. All appears well until I disconnect and retry the connection after 5 minutes or so. Then VNC client makes the connection and then immediately disconnects. It's a no go from then on. If I reboot OpenSUSE 11.2 it works again but then reconnect fails again after the same period of time.
I am trying NX now as an alternative. However, I would much prefer to use VNC.
While in Internet my connection seem to be off after some time when I stop browsing. I connect via DSL modem and I turned off network manager control over my DSL connection. I set up my connection on boot. Where can I fix it? Or where can I see the conf files for network connection setup?
I have a hp dv3 2110eg laptop with OpenSuse 11.1 (KDE 3.5.10) and Windows 7 dual boot. My wireless disconnects and connects automatically at random intervals. I do not observe this behavior when operating my laptop under Windows 7. Following some suggestions given in this forum , I uninstalled networkmanager and installed wicd. However, this does not seem to solve the problem. Given below are the relevant information. uname -r

i just installed open suse 11.3 after using linux mint 7(based on ubuntu 9.04).i am currently using two internet connections at home, the first is a vodafone mobile modem, which is workind excellent, and the other is a LAN network, that on windows uses a *.exe program to run. i managed to make all the IP, NETMASK, DNS settings and the internet connected, but without the .exe program it just disconnects after 10 minutes.this is the same thing that happens with the connections on windows if i start the computer and not run the "net.exe" program, but if that program is running the internet connections works just fine. i tried using wine to run net.exe, but it just gives an error message.
I'm using:Quote:KopeteVersion 0.80.2Using KDE 4.3.4 (KDE 4.3.4)running on Slackware 13 x64... And there are no Xstatus available! I'm extremly need xstatus support in my ICQ messanger and a lot of people tells that Kopete supports it in last (qt4) versions.
Is there a webcam support for Kopete in Fedora 11?If I follow the steps here:URL....then the 1st and 2nd steps are fine but at the 3rd step, I don't have any "send webcam" (nor receive) option in the file menu. I did have it in F8.Has this been removed in F11?Tested over the MSN protocol with ports 6891-6892 open (tcp and udp).
i mean, using Fedora 14. i had windows 7 so i decided to move on!! LOL, i have Fedora 14 Gnome, and i want to install Kepete Messenger but it does not appear in Add/Remove Software in Fedora, and i cant find it in internet.
I have been using Kubuntu for a LOOONG time now, completely happily without any noticeable problems. But, on my birthday, with the help of a few contributions, I was finally able to upgrade my PC to a Core i7.
And for the most part, things are still smooth sailing. Except for Kopete, which randomly crashes at times, bring the entire beast of a PC to a halt. Basically what happens is it suddenly lets off notification gongs like a machine gun. Then there are windows that popup that say something about "Yahoo Plugin Error". And judging by the number that increases in the titlebar, it makes A LOT of those windows. But the contents of the window itself are never rendered. It usually gets up to about <105> before the entire system just freezes.
The only difference between my old system and this one, in terms of software is the change from 32 bit to 64 bit. If someone could tell me how to fix this problem, or just point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated. This is driving me insane!!
but i don't see how you can send a new message to someone using kopete.I use kopete with only my aim account. I want to be able to send a message to someone who is not on my buddy list.If they're on my buddylist, its easy to send a message, but nowhere in the program does it allow you to send to someone not on your buddy list
Strange problem with Kopete in Fedora 12. It works well with Google talk but does not work with Openfire - based jabber servers. Empathy works well with it so I think it is not SSL/TLS problem. Libs like qca, qca2 etc. are installed...
I have just updated to FC 13 (64 bit), and there seems to be a problem with Jabber in Kopete. I use this to connect to the google talk servers. In FC 12 this was not a problem. However, now I recieve a message "Cannot load the Jabber protocol plugin." when trying to add a Jabber account in kopete. This happens on two separate recently upgraded machines.
I suspect the kdenetwork package shipped with FC 13 is broken in this respect.
EDIT: Updating to the kde packages from the kde-testing repository fixes this, so it looks like the package is indeed broken.
Connecting to deprecated signal QDBusConnectionInterface::serviceOwnerChanged(QStr ing,QString,QString) kopete(2625)/kio (KDirWatch) KDirWatchPrivate::removeEntry: doesn't know "/home/daniel/.kde/share/apps/kabc" Calling appendChild() on a null node does nothing.
i have a fresh install of fedora 15 and i just configured kopete for gmail and facebook using jabber. Now, i dont see any place where i can start an audio call. i am logged into gmail and facebook already. chat is working . am i missing something?
A while back Yahoo changed their log on methods and Kopete, Pidgin, and several other 3rd party messengers had serious issues. Pidgin patched up no problem. Kopete has a newer version that fixes this but it requires KDE4 which is still classified as unstable. Since I do not want to make my machine SID and I want to keep it as Debian Lenny I am limited to KDE3 and can not get the latest version of Kopete. I have googled like mad and havn't found a patch for Kopete 0.12.7 to fix the yahoo login issue.
