View 1 Replies View RelatedStrange problem with Kopete in Fedora 12. It works well with Google talk but does not work with Openfire - based jabber servers. Empathy works well with it so I think it is not SSL/TLS problem. Libs like qca, qca2 etc. are installed...
I like Kopete interface much more then Empaty.
I have just updated to FC 13 (64 bit), and there seems to be a problem with Jabber in Kopete. I use this to connect to the google talk servers. In FC 12 this was not a problem. However, now I recieve a message "Cannot load the Jabber protocol plugin." when trying to add a Jabber account in kopete. This happens on two separate recently upgraded machines.
I suspect the kdenetwork package shipped with FC 13 is broken in this respect.
EDIT: Updating to the kde packages from the kde-testing repository fixes this, so it looks like the package is indeed broken.
i have a fresh install of fedora 15 and i just configured kopete for gmail and facebook using jabber. Now, i dont see any place where i can start an audio call. i am logged into gmail and facebook already. chat is working . am i missing something?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI noticed that in Fedora 15 Beta when you choose a minimal install then add ONLY the defaults of the "GNOME Desktop" package, you will get this error: gnome-desktop3-3.0.1-2.fc15.x86_64 has a required package:
system-backgrounds-gnome
When I look for gnome-desktop3-3.0.1-2.fc15.x86_64 it is not on any installation menu list. I prefer gnome, but installed KDE and that worked. Any ideas of getting gnome to work?

I'm using Kopete as my IM manager with the Skype plugin. I used the One Click Install tool to install Skype4py and than I enabled Skype in Kopete. Every time I try to enable Skype within Kopete I get an error box that says, "no Skype".

i have connected the server trought ssh and i am in the terminal. Now i want to install kde or gnome so i and my friend could use the server as a mail en WWW bla bla bla server. and my question is how i need to do that i tryd : yum groupinstall "KDE (K Desktop Environment)" and yum groupinstall "X Window System" but none works i have seen those commands on this forum so i tryd it.
Recently installed F12 through the text based install and have got to GNOME gui but when i got to system/administration i only get two options and those are for display changes. Is there some way to install the features i missed out on? namely Add/remove programs which i can't seem to find anywhere
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm running openSUSE 11.1, with KDE 4.3.00. My Kopete, version 0.70.90, disconnects and reconnects to my jabber server several times a minute.
The jabber server, running the latest version of Openfire, is on the same gigabit subnet as the openSUSE machine in question. I can successfully connect to other IM services (MSN, Yahoo, etc) with no trouble. I also have no trouble with any other network service, from NFS to IMAP. I have other (Windows / Miranda IM) clients connecting to this same jabber server, all without trouble.
It drives me nuts, and it drives everyone else on my buddy list nuts too, as they see constant offline/online notifications for my user.
Just that, kopete keeps crashing and crashing all the day like two times per hour, in my two lappys.
My Aspire one with openSUSE at 32bits, and my HP with openSUSE at 64bits.
Both, has this kde config code...
now I got a problem with kopete.. before this I'm using OpenSuSE 11.2 .. there are no problem at all... after i do the the upgrade to 11.3 and there is one issue .. always crash after I put the status ONLINE.. What should I do? a snapshot screen after I click ONLINE...

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been using Kubuntu for a LOOONG time now, completely happily without any noticeable problems. But, on my birthday, with the help of a few contributions, I was finally able to upgrade my PC to a Core i7.
And for the most part, things are still smooth sailing. Except for Kopete, which randomly crashes at times, bring the entire beast of a PC to a halt. Basically what happens is it suddenly lets off notification gongs like a machine gun. Then there are windows that popup that say something about "Yahoo Plugin Error". And judging by the number that increases in the titlebar, it makes A LOT of those windows. But the contents of the window itself are never rendered. It usually gets up to about <105> before the entire system just freezes.
The only difference between my old system and this one, in terms of software is the change from 32 bit to 64 bit. If someone could tell me how to fix this problem, or just point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated. This is driving me insane!!
but i don't see how you can send a new message to someone using kopete.I use kopete with only my aim account. I want to be able to send a message to someone who is not on my buddy list.If they're on my buddylist, its easy to send a message, but nowhere in the program does it allow you to send to someone not on your buddy list

1) How do I install kde so that when I log in I'll be able to choose between gnome and kde?
2) How big (disk space) is the installation?
3) Will the programs that I already have installed in gnome work with kde or will I need separate kde versions?
I installed Fedora 13 from a cd that installed just one desktop, Gnome. I wish I had used the other installation, guess its the dvd, which installs both GNOME and KDE. Nothing I've read explains how to install KDE from Gnome. I went out on my own and installed kde-desktop and all its dependencies using Gnome's Add/Remove Programs. This worked in that it gave me the GNOME / KDE option under the Sessions menu of my login screen. What I didn't expect was to see all those KDE programs under Gnome's menus.
Is there a way to install KDE that does not place all those KDE programs under Gnome's menus or is it up to me to remove any KDE program I don't whant in a Gnome menu from the list that constitutes that menu?
I'm trying to configure facebook im's protocol on kopete.
The thing is.. I modigy my account: enter my e-mail address, my pasword. Then, ok. And when I re-enter the screen again those fields are empty.
I can view my webcam in the configuration setting in kopete, but I'm not able to view my cam on skype, it keeps on showing a gray screen! I tried almost go through on the web about this.

Also is xorg supposed to use 8-20% of the CPU when all that is running is the system monitor? The system monitor application also uses 20-70% of the CPU when it is running by itself also. (Intel Pentium 4, 3.2ghz)

I tried to install F12 DVD (Fedora-12-i386-DVD.iso). The installation process showed it installed 200 packages and finished correctly. After reboot, it only gives me a command prompt. How do I install gnome or kde from the command prompt?
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to install just XFCE? and not Gnome or KDE? I don't mind Gnome, but I definitely don't like KDE. I have tried installing the XFCE spin to my hard drive, but when I use yum to update packages later, using the default repository, yum wants to install Gnome for some strange reason, and a bunch of other stuff I don't need. Is there a way to prevent this? because really you'd think the XFCE spin would setup yum so Gnome wouldn't be installed, wouldn't you think? I don't really mind Gnome being installed, its just that I never use it, I always use XFCE, so it seems like a waste of disk space to even install it.
well I guess the graphical boot loader uses Gnome, I don't know, but I do know yum installs a bunch of other stuff I don't use after the XFCE spin is installed to the hard drive. How do I prevent that from happening is what I'm asking?
