I recently locked Thunderbird 3.1.8 and Firefox 4.0 using zypper addlock, but now every time I go into Online Update I get "There are some conflicts on the transaction that must be solved manually." with these "options" which I have to tell it "Do not install..." (2x) seen at SUSE Paste. Is Online update trying to update my locked apps or a DEP of the locked app or something else? I can't touch those 2 apps, but how can I "fix" this behavior?
I think I had this problem before but I don't remember what was done to correct it. I just tried to do an update and got this error message.

I was trying to update my Fedora 15 amd64 when a Error Notification popped up saying "An unspecified TRANSACTION ERROR has occured". More details: "could not add package update for fedora-release-rawhide-15-3(noarch)updates: fedora-release-rawhide-15-3.noarch".
OpenSUSE 11.4, 64 bits, with Index of /repositories/KDE:/Release:/46/openSUSE_11.4 and Index of /repositories/KDE:/Extra/KDE_Release_46_openSUSE_11.4 repositories enabled. Since some days, if I go to YaST2 †’ Package †’ "Update packages if a new version is available" (I'm translating from Spanish) I get a warning that plasma-addons-4.6.5-9.3.x86_64 needs akonadi-runtime < 1.5.40, but that that requirement cannot be match because there are eliminated providers: akonadi-runtime-1.5.3-91.1.x86_64 and non instalable providers: akonadi-runtime-1.5.0-3.3.1.x86_64[openSUSE-11.4-11.4-0] As "solution" it offers me to not install akonadi-runtime-1.6.0.93.1.x86_64 and libakonadiprotocolinternals1-1.6.0.93.1.x86_64 (which I selected) or to uninstall plasma-addons and kadressbook, which I do not think it is a good idea...
Weird error on 11.1 x86_64 - I get it when I try to do autoupdate from the tray updater. I tried searching the forums for this error but didn't find. I tried rpm --rebuilddb as su, but that didn't fix. I start YaST and chose Software / Online Update and get: Accessing the Package Management Failed - the system management is locked by the application with pid 29603 (/usr/lib/YaST2/bin/y2base). I tried killing the updater tray applet, but to no avail. TYAN2-Linux:/home/patti # ps -al

This is an 8-quad-core (32 total cores) tyan Opteron machine with 64 GB memory and has run flawlessly for the last year. Also, I'm using YaST/Proxy to reach the repos.
I have SuSE 11.2. There is a security patch for Mozilla NSS Library. However, I get told by YaST that the libfreebl3-3241.noarch conflicts with mozilla-nspr.i586. (There's also a patch for glibc but apparently, it is not "willing" to install this without installing the other patch first). Anyway, I did the following: zypper lp and then rpm -qi libfreebl3 and then zypper lr -d.
Here are the results: Code: zypper lp Repository 'Updates for openSUSE 11.2-0' is out-of-date. You can run 'zypper refresh' as root to update it. Loading repository data... Reading installed packages.....
Code: zypper refresh Repository '11.2' is up to date. Repository 'Education' is up to date. Repository 'Printing' is up to date. All repositories have been refreshed. I don't know what to do. In order to update FireFox, (on Aug 1, 2010) I had to do as posted in this thread: (instructions by caf4926) Updating firefox. So, I followed these directions: ImageBam - Fast, Free Image Hosting and Photo Sharing. Now what do I do?
Woke up this morning and updated my main myth machine, and now mythfrontend won't start. I get this message:
Code: 2009-05-12 07:57:50.003 Closing DB connection named 'DBManager0' 2009-05-12 07:57:50.006 Primary screen 0. 2009-05-12 07:57:50.008 Connected to database 'mythconverg' at host: ***.***.*.*** 2009-05-12 07:57:50.010 Using screen 0, 1680x1050 at 0,0 2009-05-12 07:57:50.069 AudioPulseUtil, Error: Failure to suspend: Invalid argument 2009-05-12 07:57:50.070 AudioPulseUtil, Error: Failure to suspend: Invalid argument 2009-05-12 07:57:50.070 ERROR: ***Pulse Audio is running!!!!*** 2009-05-12 07:57:50.070 ERROR: But MythTV was not able to suspend it. EXITING!
So, I googled about, and found this thread on a mythtv dev mailing list: No Start with Pulse Audio (Changeset 20310) | MythTV | Dev Apparently, the new mythtv .21-fixes is incorporating the .22 pulseaudio check. Myth checks for pulse and exits if it can't kill it. I had sound issues with 11.1 before, and tried to remove pulseaudio but created bigger headaches for myself by doing so. Interestingly, if you log into a mythtv session from the xdm, mythfrontend will run. So, pulse isn't loaded at the session level. But, I'd like some other workaround that allows me my normal desktop at the same time!!
I installed fedora 12 today...installation went fine. Tried to run the software update ( which includes 415 fixes) and got the following
Transaction error:- an unspecified transaction error has occurred. More information is available in the following report.
More details show:- could not add package update for abrt-plugin-runpp-1.0.4-1fc12(i686)updates:abrt-plugin-runapp-1.0.4-1.fc12.i686
I have unchecked the box in the update list to be installed, but the software update insists that this update is needed. I cannot progress any further than this error message..
Code: DBus error : Unable to get transaction id from packagekit. Then it asked if i will start YaST and install the updates manual and i then took OK and this came up?
Code: DBus error : Unable to get transaction id from packagekit.
After an udate I get this error message: DBus error : Unable to get transaction id from packagekit. This error also shows when I click the yellow triangle. When I start the manual update this shows:

It seems some shell is not there anymore. What to do?
When I try to apply the latest updates on my 11.3 system, I get the following Warning. I think this is because I did the "switch system packages" to Packman after I installed it. What is the recommended solution?
Code:
#### YaST2 conflicts list - generated 2010-07-27 16:30:26 #### patch:k3b-2785.noarch conflicts with k3b.x86_64 < 2.0.0-1.1.1 provided by k3b-2.0.0-1.pm.2.7.x86_64 [ ] do not install patch:k3b-2785.noarch
where I could lok to resolve this conflict? The command-line: lpotions -p printer -lReports the saved values with an "*" and (for evample: PageSize=Letter, InputSlot=MPT) seem to be in effect. However, the desired page size has been set and subsequently reports in both the web-based CUPS and the YaST printer utilities, as A4
I just installed 11.2 kde 64 bit and I get this error: DBus error : Unable to get transaction id from packagekit. How do I correct this?also: the other updates have been running for a hour and they're still running. is this normal?
There are numerous fs checks with transaction log replay at every boot of my opensuse 11.4 notebook.I do not see any error messages on the console during shutdown or startup (but maybe I am just reading too slow)./var/log/messages contains some error messages from NetworkManager during shutdown, but I think they are unrelated.Filesystems I use are ext4 for /boot, ntfs for windows partitions, reiserfs for the root filesystem and for several logical volumes.
As far as I could see the checks are only done on the reiserfs filesystems on the logical volumes but I cannot see any warnings during volume group activation, so it seems the logical volumes are deactivated at shutdown.Of course I do wait until the notebook powers off by itself on shutdown.I'll provide /var/log/messages of a shutdown/boot shortly
When I ran YaST | Software Management | Package | Update if newer Package Available this morning I get this message:

What is it telling me? What should I do? What are the implications?
Right now I either can have wireless or sound. When I get sound I lose my wireless which may be due to some kernel issue. I use the madwifi, madwifi-kmp-default, madwifi-kmp-pae, & compat-wireless-kmp-pae for my athero ar 9285. This gets my wireless going.
I followed SDB:AudioTroubleshooting - openSUSE and couldn't get sound
Then I followed Alsa-update-snapshot - openSUSE
I get sound but lose my wireless. I reinstall madwifi-kmp-pae, & compat-wireless-kmp-pae. I have to downgrade some kernel conflicts and I have wireless, but no sound. My sound information is here [URL].
I have a HP Pavilion dv7-2230sa During boot I get a series of errors about ACPI and AHCI Conflicts, the result of which I have to dissable ACPI with acpi=off. However when acpi=off my wireless Broadcom b43 series refuses to enable the wifi. I just can't press the button that would enable / dissable the wifi.
The wifi is detected, the drivers and firmware are installed, however the light remains firmly in the RED.the ethernet works, sound works fine, There also seems to be an issue with the ATi/Radeon Driver being missing which is causing fatal errors at boot time and also some memory conflicts again causing fatal errors.
I have tried this laptop under opensuse 11.2 and now under opensuse 11.3M5 without sucsess - however to my dislike Ubuntu have managed to resolve this by accident between 9.4 and 9.10 but i wanna use opensuse not ubuntu i have asked them to tell me how they fixed it to share it with you but I am still plowing my way through their forum!
Getting "DBus error : Unable to get transaction id from packagekit." when trying to update. I can't update or install software through the package manager anymore. The yellow exclamation point won't go away on the toolbar.
Lately I see a lot of posts/threads on NVIDIA cards and disfunctioning desktops. People rely on older posts and howto's, and run sax2 after driver install (either from repos or "hard way"). Symptoms also appear after updating 11.1 to 11.2 The problems IME are 99% related to conflicts with an existing /etc/X11/xorg.conf, which in 11.2 has become obsolete, though it will be read and used if it's (still) there.
On openSUSE 11.2 we have hardware autodetection and -configuration for everything. So no need for an xorg.conf to configure the X-server. on 11.2, follow this, if NVIDIA driver is installed correctly, but still no proper desktop experience:
I'm using Debian Testing (I know it doesn't happen in Stable)

Why apt-get can while aptitude can't?
I've searched on web, and all I can tell is that aptitude is "safer" than apt-get because it taking account the packages on hold.
But I don't have any package on hold! (I've tested dpkg --get-selections | grep hold)
When I moved from Fedora 13 from Fedora 11, I thought the annoying application crashes that I had been having were gone for good. Random crashes - firefox, Thunderbird, Abrt, metacity and what have you with SIGSEGV errors. I'm beginning to believe that these are not down to Fedora or even the RAM (Have run Memtest, several times). I'm not sure if what I am seeing are signs of IRQ conflicts of some sort. Can someone, please have a look and give me some guidance on what to do? Should I reinstall with acpi=off ? noapic? Also, don't have a clue why the system complains of ECC being disabled? The RAM is non-ECC. I have posted some sections of the logs here with links to the full logs instead of making this a massive post.

I keep getting u1conflicts in my Moneydance backup. For example, I am usually doing something in Moneydance daily. However, when I went to open it up yesterday, it didn't save anything from the previous 3 days. The last 3 days worth were u1.conflict. Moreover, this is the only computer that we do the Moneydance transactions on. My other question is about the speed it is taking to upload all my pictures. Granted, I do have A lot of pictures (3000+), but it is taking forever to upload them. When U1 is running, it takes all of the bandwidth. My husband already posted something about limiting the bandwidth problems. What I am wondering though is if there is a way to get all my pictures backed up faster? I have been trying to back them up for about a week now. In 6 hours, it only backed up 115 files of over 3000, and that is using up all of our bandwidth.
I am having conflicts in my software sources some maybe out of date but I am not sure how to tell which ones are. Is there a program that solves these problems. I have Ubuntu 10.4
I'm using Lucid. I installed gourmet, a gnome recipe program using Ubuntu Software Center. Everything appeared to go smoothly. Then I tried to use miro and discovered it was gone. So I reinstalled, then discovered gourmet was gone. OK, there's the problem, so I went to Synaptic to confirm. Tried to reinstall gourmet and was told it would remove miro. So, any fix for this? I'd like to use both programs.
