Jun 2, 2010recently I am interesting at apparmor, and I have read some docs of it, but I have a question that how to protect apparmor itself? I mean only if gained root privilege then stop apparmor service, all the protection will no longer effect, if I hiding or remove root user then how to remodify profiles if needed that because have not enough privilege.

OpenSUSE :: 11.3 Cannot Enable AppArmor?
Jul 18, 2010Here's my problem: Clean OpenSUSE 11.3 64 bit installation using default options into a Virtualbox virtual machine for pre-production testing. I want to check whether AppArmor is enabled, so I enter YaST -> AppArmor Control Panel.
This has a check box named 'Enable AppArmor' which is by default un-checked. I check this box, and then click 'Done'. This takes me back to YaST and I would assume AppArmor has now been enabled. However, when I return to AppArmor Control Panel the check box is deselected again.
Ubuntu :: Evolution Icon Not Alerting Of New Messages?
Oct 11, 2010I'd like to have a notification icon popup when a new email message comes in. I find that I need to keep the Evolution window open to see the popup notifier, which kinda defeats the purpose of being notified when you've already opened the program and can see the message right there.

Jun 10, 2010depending on reading some apparmor docs, I know that apparmor read logs to determine what profile a program will be, that means a profile only can be built when the program have been exec at least a time, or we already how will be executed of a specific program. but if a hack inserts a bad-program such as a back door or virus what should never be executed any time, and at the same time we don't know what's the consequence will happen due to the behaviors of a bad-program. therefore, how could apparmor do to prevent these situations? Can apparmor confine every thing what under a specific directory by default? because use: aa-autodep /path/to/restrict/* is 'complain' by default and everything are allowed, can apparmor deny everything by default?

Code:# uname -aLinux linux-2c5j 3.0.4-41-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT Sun Sep 4 18:51:01 CEST 2011 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux The compilation did run flawlessly with the SAKC script.However the module apparmor does not load. Infact:Code:# modprobe apparmorFATAL: Module apparmor not found. I understand that I have to recompile the module, right? There I have the first question: wasn't the apparmor module accepted into the kernel (and therefore should be already compiled and available with the normal kernel compile)? Or is this wrong. How can I recompile the apparmor module for my new kernel.

Nov 13, 2010Currently the Apparmor program has the notification logs saved to /etc/apparmor/notify.cfg, however, when I try to save the notification after putting my email address in, I get an error saying "Configuration failed for the following operations: Unable to write config changes to /etc/apparmor/notify.cfg"looking inside the folder, I do not see any file named "notify.cfg" BUT I do see so files called reports.conf, logprof.conf, and reports.crontab. I am guessing that the program is asking to save the notification changes to a file that does not exist and in fact one of those three files are the proper ones to use. Well if that is the case then how would I go about fixing this error?

Aug 6, 2010I have just reinstalled OS 11.2 but this time the 64bit system variant. I installed the real-time kernel and saw that the apparmor module reported an error and wasn't loaded. I have never looked into apparmor and only knows it has something to do with security, and thus I wonder if it is important to do something with this issue? I plan to use the kernel-rt and have more or less always used a variant of this kernel flavour, often self built. Though I can not recall having seen that error before and I have not used a 64bit system before

The email client has to be text command based because I need to use command line to send notification email from anothar application installed in my Linux (Centos 5.1) Since the email client will only be used to send email notification, I don't require setting up of an email server in my linux.

I have a cron setup to run this command: Code: /var/test.sh | mail -s "Test Cron" mr182@somewhere.com The email is sent but the output of the script is not in the email body, it's just blank. I know there is some output because there are some echo statements in the script.I don't want to get an email for all cronjobs, just this one.

I want to be able to intersperse my replies within a quoted reply i.e. if the email had three paragraphs, I'd like to be able to have my replies between each of the paragraphs. At the moment, I don't seem to be able to do anything other than delete from the quoted section - I try to simulate my requirements by cutting and then 'paste quotation', but this doesn't always work as sometimes Evolution adds too many levels of '> ' .

Feb 24, 2011we had a server with Hostway, and it was running ubuntu. The server also had Plesk installed, which did some funny things. We had several websites on that server, and many email addresses. Then we changed servers. Now we have a server through Rackspace and it is also running Ubuntu. It also has Virtualmin installed, which generally does not impose as many unconventional changes on Ubuntu as Plesk did.
Rather than using Thunderbird to download my email (which is what I used to do) I've decided I'll start reading my email on the server. So I will ssh to the server and then use some email client, such as Alpine, to read the email. So I installed Alpine. I have an email account for "lawrence". The email address is lawrence @ krubner. Currently, when mail arrives for that account, it is stored here:
/home/krubner/homes/lawrence/Maildir/new
and then it is transferred to hear:
/home/krubner/homes/lawrence/Maildir/cur
When I start Alpine, while logged in as lawrence, Alpine automatically sets up an inbox for me here:
/home/lawrence/mail/
How do I get Alpine (or any other client) to read from the correct folder? I'm fairly sure the email package (the MTA) at work on this new server is Postfix. As near as I can tell, my email is held for 24 hours in this folder:
/home/krubner/homes/lawrence/Maildir/new
and then it gets transferred here:
/home/krubner/homes/lawrence/Maildir/cur
Alpine only lets me set one path for my Inbox, so I'm not sure what path I should set. If I use "cur" I will see all email 1 day late, but if I use "new" then I will miss email if I go a day without checking.

The new email server will replace the primary one.I would like to setup the new email server in parallel with the existing one.This way i can observe issues that might occur and be aware of what could go wrong. I want to received mail to be delivered to both mail servers at the same time.I would like to use postfix, exim i find a bit to difficult to understand.I have thought of using transport maps, the only problem is that you can only forward mail to one server at a time using transport maps.I think recipient_bcc_maps and sender_bcc_maps could work, i would just like ideas of how i can do this.
