OpenSUSE :: 11.3 & OpenOffice \ Use A Frequently Came Up With An Error Message - "JRE Is Defective"?
Sep 23, 2010
I have just installed 11.3, 3.2.1.4-1.2-i586 rpm openSUSE-11.3-1.82. OpenOffice, which I use a frequently came up with an error message - "JRE is Defective"."OpenOffice.org requires a Java routine environment (JRE) to perform this task. The selected JRE is defective. Please select another version or install another JRE and select it under Tools-Open Office.org-JRE". Clicking the "OK" on the third or fourth try brought up a spreadsheet.I checked the installed version and found it identical to OpenOffice.org latest version: 3.2.1.4. I then reinstalled and now it goes through the loading process and flashes a blank page, presumably the function selection screen without any prior warning.
I use a 32 bit PC with 512k RAM. When I loaded 11.2 I received a warning message that some applications might not work, but I went ahead and found no problems with any of the applications that I use. Installing 11.3, no warning was given.I have gone through the posts and found only one similar where it would not load on a system with Gnome.
Im trying to instal Sun Virtualbox but when download completes and I click on install I get the following error>>Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus) I wont even bother with this software if there are others out there that are as easy to use. I used it on Windows and thought it was great ! (thats how I eventually switched to Linux, by using it virtually at first)
Greetings from Greece. I tried to install opensuse 11.3 in an empty disk . Unfortunately the installation progress stops in 88% and the message error says "error copy live image to the disk". I have burn two different cd but the result is always the same.Is it a hardware problem or the cd is not correct?I had the 11.2 version in the same pc without any problem for a long time.
This is an example of the error I receive when trying to do an update via YaST, YaST2, or zypper. Basically, curl is broken. With out it functioning normally, I can't use openSUSE's update mechanism to fix my system. Need to find a way to manually fix / upgrade curl. There was an error in the repository initialization.'Updates-for-openSUSE-11.4-11.4-0': [|] Valid metadata not found at specified URL(s)History:
- Unknown error reading from 'http://download.opensuse.org/update/11.4/' - SKIP request: User-requested skipping of a file - Download (curl) error for
When I open the software management , I get the message "There was an error in the repository initialization.". And when I try to install anything I get the message "bla..bla locale::facet::_S_create_c_locale name not valid". In the terminal I typed
That's my main issue. I cannot add anything in the todo list. I have included a screenshot of the error message. Now just by chance could someone also point me in the direction of how to make it so the calendar will update and sync both ways with google calendar? Follow the link for the screenshot
The virtual machine execution may run into an error condition as described below. We suggest that you take an appropriate action to avert the error. The host I/O cache for at least one controller is disabled and the medium '/home/MyUserName/.VirtualBox/HardDisks/Ubuntu_LAMP.vdi' for this VM is located on an ext4 partition. There is a known Linux kernel bug which can lead to the corruption of the virtual disk image under these conditions. Either enable the host I/O cache permanently in the VM settings or put the disk image and the snapshot folder onto a different file system. The host I/O cache will now be enabled for this medium.
When i shutdown my SuSE 11.2 box with all current updates i have started to notice an error message.Something about failed to unmount, trying remount as read only or something like that. The trouble is its almost the very last message that appears and its not on the screen long enough to read properly.Somewhere is there a logfile that i can recover this error message from so that i can make some sort of an attempt to resolve the issue, post the whole message here in more detail?
(I'm probably going to have my forum account revoked due to excessive usage ) I'm setting a VPN connection on openSUSE 11.2. Using the networking icon on the tray I add a PPTP connection, set it up but I receive a message 'VPN connection failed'. Googling it up I tried changing a setting called 'refuse-eap' to 'yes' but it doesn't seem to work. Here's the result from the log file:
I downloaded opensuse from opensuse.org(the DVD), and when I tried to install it gave me an error message. When I saw the file on the mirror, it was 4.7 G, but when I burned it, I did notice it was only 4.2 Gs. I tried another download and again it was only 4.2 Gs, how or where can I obtain a working installable DVD of OpenSuse?

My son wants to install Wintendos so that he can play starcraft 2 on my new comp. But it doesn't seem to work. Every time I try to install it the install breaks down with an error message like, no boot disc/media can be found. (This is after the install has started, a couple of minutes in.) I suspect that Microsoft doesn't support usb 3.0 in their native distribution of win7, not sure though. And that my comp only has usb 3 ports. How do I check what kind of hardware my comp is packing, specially USB ports.
been a fan of openSUSE for years now and peridocially go back and forth between Suse and Windows. However, I'm still an enthusiastic amateur when it comes to this stuff. Well, I bought a netbook (Acer Aspire ONE) several months back and loved Win 7 (a first for me). However, like all Windows, they all go down the crapper. So I'm wanting to completely wipe out Windows and go all Suse on my netbook. So I downloaded KDE Live and "burned" it on my USB. BTW, the image writer that are in the directions only writes, .raw files not .iso. I had to use a third party software.I then went into my BIOS and put the USB drive first on the booting list, and then restarted. Right off the bat I get the error message.Could not find kernel image: gfxbootAll I want to do is install openSUSE on my netbook
Anyone know what this signifies in the Apache logs files:
Code: [Tue May 04 20:56:06 2010] [error] [client *******] client sent HTTP/1.1 request without hostname (see RFC2616 section 14.23): /w00tw00t.at.ISC.SANS.DFind:) [Tue May 04 20:56:06 2010] [error] [client *********] client sent HTTP/1.1 request without hostname (see RFC2616 section 14.23): /w00tw00t.at.ISC.SANS.DFind:) [Tue May 04 21:05:18 2010] [error] [client ********] client sent HTTP/1.1 request without hostname (see RFC2616 section 14.23): /w00tw00t.at.ISC.SANS.DFind:) [Tue May 04 21:05:18 2010] [error] [client ********] client sent HTTP/1.1 request without hostname (see RFC2616 section 14.23): /w00tw00t.at.ISC.SANS.DFind:)
I am using 11.3 on one machine and 11.2 on the other (a netbook). 11.4 won't install on either and 11.3 on the netbook fails to install as well.
I am using the same setup as I have always used when both systems ran 11.2 (details below) but now I can only mount a drive in one direction. In the other direction the mount command gets stuck with no error message until it eventually times out. I can ping and ssh the machines from each other without difficulty.
Even in the direction in which the mount apparently works (11.2 mounting a drive on the 11.3 machine) when I try to copy files across nothing actually happens.
exportfs -a was run successfully on the exporting machine, and nfsserver is running on both machines as does nfs client.
The exporting machine is 192.168.1.102 (eeelinux) and the other machine is 192.168.1.101 (nina).
Details: The /etc/exports file on the exporting machine (192.168.1.102) looks like this: eeelinux:/home/naima # more /etc/exports # See the exports(5) manpage for a description of the syntax of this file. # This file contains a list of all directories that are to be exported to # other computers via NFS (Network File System).
I have local and remote networks that have various printers. I can add any printer (local or remote) to any PC, except for one PC that's refusing to allow remote connection (it used to, but doesn't now!). The problem PC has two printers connected and work OK as a local printer, but both display same problem when attempting to connect from any remote PC via YaST. Using 'Connection Wizard> CUPS Server' connection method requires IP address of remote PC and printer name. But if I correctly select either of the two printers I get an error message:
"PING 192.168.1.149 (192.168.1.149) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from 192.168.1.149: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=1.12 ms
Both printers are set to 'Accept Print Jobs' and 'Share Printers> Allow remote access' permits all networks to connect. why this PC is requiring the root password?
I have installed 11.2 from OpenSuse DVD on a clean partition. The problems I am having are: Updater Applet - it keeps trying to do the update and fails with the message: DBus error: Unable to get transaction id from packagekit. svn. I am trying to understand how to run svn client. I found installation instructions here. However, running the command zypper install subversion produces following error message: zypper: error while loading shared libraries: libzypp.so.619: cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory.
I updated my NetworkManager from version 0.9svn1128615-2.2 /opensuse/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Factory:/Desktop/openSUSE_11.2/i586/) to the newest version 0.9svn1128615-138.2.The result was, the after reboot an error message occured, saying that the KNetworkmanager is not working and it would be not able to start the program !Did anybody else have the problem with this newest version?
Using IMAP to retrieve emails in Evolution is not working correctly. Some messages are recieved, others are not. Those messages that cannot be recieved, reports the following error message: Unable to retrieve message
I usually run my updates every Friday, my last good update was 4-Mar-2011. I could not update this week and got an error -"PackageKit Error repo-not-available: File '/repodata/repomd.xml' not found on medium http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/openSUSE:/Tumbleweed:/Raw/openSUSE_Tumbleweed_standard/'"I get a similar error message when starting Yast Software Management. Is this related to the 11.4 release? I'm waiting for fewer bugs before I upgrade to 11.4, so I'd like to be able to keep current with 11.3.
