Whenever I make an ssh connection to my Fedora 14 server, the echo of my keyboard strokes are very jerky. It will echo a few, then stop for a moment, then it echos all the keyboard entries from the time it stopped responding all at once. Anyone have any ideas on why this started happening? This happens from any computer I use to connect. It happens with Putty and SSH Secure Shell.

And when I close the vpn connection window I get "there were no valid vpn secrets"
I Use F10 with xfce on an aspire one.
I am able to boot Fedora 14 to the GUI, log in on the keyboard, see the desktop, and then I get no response from the laptop's keyboard or trackpad.
I do not know how to obtain hardware specifics on my keyboard or touchpad, so perhaps that would be good info for me to start with...
BTW my ultimate goal is to run an Amahi server on the laptop. 2600 has a pentium III 1.13GHz processor and 512Mb RAM
when I try to access any page even small html pages it stays like 3 seconds in HTTP request sent; waiting for response. state..even when I use Lynx locally on the server..bypassing any possible network issues..logs dont show a thing..the server itself is a high end server with nothing running on it apart from apache which is not serving anny clients now, firewall is disabled and hostnamelookups are set to OFF.

In Unix I tried to ping the website using the ping command.
I use putty to connect to a Unix m/c. I don't have any permissions to install any programs so could not install any s/w so i could check if i were able to reach the website.
Is it a Proxy Server related issue ? If yes how do i configure it ?
I have openSUSE 11.3 on my Lenovo Thinkpad X61. It has been running fine for many months, but yesterdaychanged. For example, between the two previous words I had actually typed "something" ("yesterday something changed") but it was lost. I type at normal speed but the machine cannot keep up. Hopelessly annoying. This happens in every application I have checked. The only unusual thing I did yesterday was to load a bunch of photos off a relative's digital camera. I'm concerned I may have picked up spyware.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI installed Ubuntu10.04 in VM. It worked without any problem. There was no GIMP in that version and thought to update the OS. I invoked update manager and updated the OS. After the update when I try to type in the password I see no response for my key board. Mouse works fine which is attached to my Key-board.
I deleted the VM completely and did a new Ubuntu10.04 installation it worked fine I could able to run couple of bash scripts but after update It doesn't response to keyboard.
I use the debootstrap to make a base Debian System of the ARM architecture for BananaPro [URL]... , and install the LXDE desktop. But the keyboard and mouse didn't response after the LXDE boot.
If I use the Debian system without the LXDE desktop, and it is normal. Meanwhile, I only installed the framebuffer driver, and can't find the right GPU driver to install.
Is caused by the lack of the GPU driver ? and what should i do ?

I use skype, and several times when i have it open, more often when i am using it, the hole system stuck with no response. The mouse stop moving, the keyboard does not work, even control + alt + backspace does not work! The only available choice is to reboot the computer.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm installing slack 13.0 in a Dell 2350 for a friend. once installed, it works ok for a while then within some somewhat random period of time, just plain locks up. the keyboard stops working, the mouse cursor still moves, but there is no response from mouse clicks. i was ssh'ed into the machine one of these times to see if i could read the logs during a lockup. the machine stopped responding to the ssh session as well (actually i had an instance of mc running at the time, and the machine still responded to it. when i exited mc, i was stuck in console never-never land). the logs show absolutely nothing. /etc/messages keeps showing MARK long after the lockup. all other logs are not updated since boot. this machine has an i810 chipset, is there a driver issue here?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI cannot use several keys (1,`, q, a, z & Esc) on my keyboard.I have just installed Kubuntu 11.04, AMD64 version via Wubi. Everything went well w/o any errors. At 1st boot, I also logged in w/o errors, and then tried some apps for Office & Network and shut down. The keyboard was still alright at that time. However, The problem started on the 2nd boot after the installation. Those keys do not response in Kubuntu & Windows 7 login screen and even in my PC's BIOS setup.
My laptop model is Dell Lattitude E6410, core i5, Intel HD Graphics, WD HDD 160GB. And I installed on the other partition, not my Windows one.
I have a small intel Atom based computer that acts as a 'combo' firewall / router / server / 802.11 Access Point that services my end user needs. I'm using hostapd 0.7.0 and Fedora 12 x86_64. The system works fine on Fedora 11. I decided to upgrade to Fedora 12 last night, and completely broke my wireless. Note that configurations are _identical_ between the Fedora 11 and Fedora 12 installation. Though, I did recompile the hostapd binary under Fedora 12 libs, etc.
Anyway, Client #1 associates fine. Client #2 associates, and hostapd hangs. Strace'ing the process shows nothing... just.. dead. SIGTERM works, but hostapd is unable to 'unallocate' the wlan0 interface, which appears to be in a hung state, so I can't simply re-start hostapd. So, I have to remove wlan0 from my bridge, them rmmod ath9k, modprobe ath9k, re-add wlan0 into the bridge, restart hostapd.. But the second association consistently hangs it every time. Next, I went and downloaded the latest compat-wireless drivers as of this posting. Selected the ath9k driver, built the modules, replaced them in my /lib/modules tree, depmod'd, reboot, etc..
BIG difference. Now hostapd does not hang, and there appears to be better logging/debug than ever before. This made me happy. Unfortunately, there appears to be a new problem. Clients can now associate, but only for a split second. They are immediately disconnected, and the following message appears via hostapd's stdout logging: hostapd: wlan0: STA 00:21:5c:39:a3:99 IEEE 802.11: did not acknowledge authentication response
For every client that attempts connection. Note that I'm using WPA2-EAP-PEAP w/ MSCHAPv2. I've also, for kicks, just tried regular WPA2-PSK with similar results. I'm using a mixture of clients, Windows XP, Windows 7, Linux Ubuntu, Fedora, and others.

I can connect to the internet and browse. I'm wired and using DHCP on a Windows network. Updating Ubuntu or downloading programs takes hours for 52MB of updates. Why? I read some articles that mention Network Manager needs to be enabled at the .conf file. Can I edit this using GUI or command line only?

After the client boots vmlinuz and init.rd, I see some information and after a minute I see:

My problem is that when i try to open port 25 with telenet it takes lot of time like more than 1 minute to open session and another 30 - 40 seconds to respond to "ehlo" command.
Also when i try to open telnet session on port 25 in another server it hardly takes 1-2 seconds open session.

I had centos 5-5 server with 6G of RAM and 4 core cpu 3GHZ i installed bind 9.7.1-p2 on my server with multi thread support there are a lot of dns requests on my server , about 2500 Packets/sec and 3Mbit UDP traffic but my server response week to most of them.
For example when i use nslookup or dig command to query Yahoo.com the response from server maybe deliver about 5 Sec or become timed out , but sometimes response time less than 1 sec!

No problems at all, apart from this one: When a PHP script (script A) is written to request a PHP script on the same web server (script B), nginx takes several minutes to respond and finally the connection times out. And it happens only when invoking script A through nginx. Calling it from command line works fine � I get a normal output of script B.
Literally, the test case is as simple as:

I suppose the root of the problem may be some obstacle occurring when php5-cgi ends up invoking itself. And this is what happens when script A is called through nginx. I have a problem concerning the vacation(auto response). I got a mailserver(smtp.mydomain.com), pop3/imap-server(mail.mydomain.com) webserver(www.mydomain.com, with postfixadmin on it). I use Debian 5.0 So it's like this, I receive mail to smtp.mydomain.com, it get checked for spam with amavisd-maia(Maia Mailguard), then delivered to the pop3/imap-server. I am a new user of Ubuntu...I am trying to use if for a University project. I have installed Ubuntu under a nice new partition and install was smooth. I am using my Belkin F5D8055 v1 USB adapter to connect to my router. The router registers that the IP 192.168.0.3 has connected (thats the IP assigned to the adapter) however even when trying to ping the router (192.168.0.1), I get no response.

I cannot get either sendmail or postfix to send a 220 response, nor respond with details. See below for sample telnet output. Details: I have a server that requires email, but only for light use. I'm definitely not an expert, but I have set up a sendmail configuration on a previous server. I tried to configure sendmail first and then postfix later, when I couldn't get sendmail working. I'm not sure exactly what the problem is, but I have a feeling the following might yield some important information. Note: this is the result for Postfix, but virtually the same thing happened with sendmail, too. That is, initially the telnet connection would close immediately. Afterwords, I could connect a second time but then it never responded with a 220 banner nor any 250's.

I was also having a problem with the Shutdown / Reboot sequence taking ages due to using WiFi, WPA2 and mounting SMB shares. I wasted about 4 hours digging around before I finally realised that the solution involved Upstart. 1. Open a terminal and enter:

3. Save the script and attempt a restart. I don't know if this will work for everyone, or even what version of Upstart you need for it to work, but it cuts my shutdown time from about 2 mins to about 30 seconds.
Note: This has been working for me about 90% of the time. Occasionally though I see that the script ends prematurely due to the TERM signal and I end up with the 2 minute wait again. I've added the following to the /etc/init/network-manager.conf file:
