I am having some difficulties installing a wireless usb adapter on Fedora 12. the usb adapter is: Netgear WN111v2 Wireless-N USB adapter and it has the chipset: Atheros AR9100AP. I did a intensive search on the web but i don't know how to go further. These are the steps i've tried. I installed NdisWrapper and tried the following:
[code]...
But i really have no clue what to do further. I also found this site, which seems to have all the answers: [URL]... But i have no idea how it works. I copied all the firmware files to right directory. But what is the next step?

while installing Lucid server i386, the interface works fine (time server connection, downloading additional packages etc) but after the reset the adapter does not connect to the network. ifconfig returns the correct (static ip) details and I can ifconfig eth0 down/up but the link lights on the card and switch are not on.
I can successfully ping the servers ip and host name, but anything else returns "Destination Host Unreachable"
Also found a thread in these forums by someone with the same problem that I was going to tack this on the end of, but couldn't find it again. In that one the person solved his issue with adding the noapic command in the grub config, but that doesn't work with me unfortunately.

I installed in Virtualbox many times and the clients would not connect. The config of the dhcpd.conf was the problem. Now, Everywhere I kept reading it said I had to turn off my hardware routers dhcp. Thats wrong, I have it working with it on and with one network card. Heres the nuts and bolts. Dlink 4100 hardware router assigning address block 192.168.2.200-250 to pcs on the lan. Router is set to reserve and IP for the ltps server nic so it gets the same IP assigned every time from the hardware router. No need to force linux to an ip when it can be set in the router. Then installed LTSP from alt-cd. Once done, dhcp wont run because it conflicts with the hardware dhcp. Found out by trying to restart it and it said stop - Fail when it tried to stop it.
sudo /etc/init.d/dhcp3-server restart
So edit /etc/ltsp/dhcpd.conf.
sudo gedit /etc/ltsp/dhcpd.conf
Mine attached below: The subnet, as long as the 1st three numbers match the rest of lan setup it will work.(192.168.2.0), rest of my lan is 192.168.2.x. Now notice the range is a different block than the hardware dhcp server uses. So all thin clients that connect will be assigned something 192.168.2.100-150 and all hardware connected pcs will be assigned 192.168.2.200-250 from the hardware router. So no conflicts. Then for the domain name server, set it to the hardware router ip. My hardware router is 192.168.2.2. Set option router to the same as hardware router of 192.168.2.2 Nothing in my dhcpd.conf file is pointing to the ltsp dhcp server. Nothing else had to be edited in the dhcpd.conf Next hurdle I had, after any change of the dhcpd.conf, ip's might have changed and you have to reconfig the ssh and the image. run these 2 commands.
sudo ltsp-update-sshkeys
then
sudo ltsp-upadte-image
then
sudo /etc/init.d/dhcp3-server restart
Then thin clients/lan boot pcs all can connect after that.
I have since installed again at work in virtual box, booted from another vbox client and booted from a separate lan pc. Then installed again at home on AMD 3200 Athlon, 1 gig mem. Booted from my main pc PhenomX4, no problems. Pc's must have lan boot available in the bios or net boot available on the network card(most consumer add on cards do not). But most motherboard lan connection do.

# Default LTSP dhcpd.conf config file.

After a fresh install of Ubuntu 11.04 (from 10.04) and spending several hours trying to figure out why the ad-hoc connection between my two computers (Fedora14 <-> Ubuntu 11.04) no longer worked - it had worked fine for almost 2 years with 10.04 - I've finally concluded it was a DHCP problem. This realisation (which was slow in coming!) dawned on me when I reversed my setup and configured the Fedora box as the DHCP server and everything was suddenly working perfectly! A quick internet search threw up an installation file called "isc-dhcp-server" which other Ubuntu 11.04 - related forums are also complaining about. My problem is that this file, although available in the repository, is not even installed!!!
It seems unlikely that the developers forgot to include DHCP support, so I hope someone can point me in the right direction.

I'm having this issue with a Linux server that thinks it owns an IP that it doesn't.Background: We used to have a central server connected directly to the DSL modem with two interfaces. interface eth1 was setup to respond to three of our external IPs, I'll call them ext54, ext55, and ext56. The internal interface, eth0, was setup as a gateway for the LAN on IP 192.168.0.1.
We wanted to install a hardware firewall and virtualize the existing server. So now it's setup so that the WAN interface of m0n0wall is connected directly to the DSL modem and responds to ext54, ext55, and ext56 and its LAN interface is the gateway for the 192.168.2.0 network. The server was virtualized and it's eth1 configuration was changed to be 192.168.2.2 with a gateway of 192.168.2.1. Everything seemed to be working fine.
Problem: The server runs apache for our webmail system, which works fine from the outside (since I have m0n0wall NAT port 80 through to 192.168.2.2), but inside it fails.
As best as I can figure the server (which is linux Centos 4.3), thinks that it should still respond to IP ext54 instead of forwarding it on to m0n0wall to figure out where it should go. I've looked through all the config files I can think of on the linux server (ifconfig, route table, hosts file) and I can't see anything that would make the server think it is ext54. I've also checked the logs and config of m0n0wall to see if the packets are getting dropped, and again, I don't see anything.
I guess I should say that our DSL provider gives us the IPs ext54, ext55, ext56, ext57, and ext58. When I tracert the IPs on the server ext54, ext55, and ext56 don't hop at all as if the server itself serves those IPs, but ext57 and ext58 tracerts hop to the m0n0wall gateway correctly...which makes this even crazier in my opnion.

I'm working with 10.10 (Maverick) on an older Compaq laptop. Wireless card is a Cisco Aironet 350. This card is listed as supported and drivers included in the server distro.
During the Network configuration portion of the install, I selected eth1 (wireless); the card came active and a valid network connection was established.
However, after the full server installation the interface (eth1) is not seen.
What's confusing is that modprobe -l shows the drivers as present:
kernel/drivers/net/wireless/airo.ko
kernel/drivers/net/wireless/airo_cs.ko
Insertion and removal of the card is noted in /var/log/messages:
pcmcia_socket pcmcia_socket1 pccard: card ejected from slot 1
pcmcia_socket pcmcia_socket1 pccard: card inserted into slot 1
(I'd be happy to supply more info, but currently set up with Fluxbox and I'll be darned if I can get copy from the xterm to paste into Firefox...)

What port needs to be allowed/opened on the server side to allow Fedora 12 to access files on the server via NFS? My email and internet through the server work fine, but NFS file sharing/browsing does not work and I'm not having luck with forum and google searches finding what needs to be changed.
Fedora 12KDE, 32bit, install from liveCD, fully updated as of this date.

I am new to fedora and linux. I have spent the past three days figuring out how to install nvidia drivers for linux. I figured out how to install the drivers but I can't seem to turn off the x server to install it. Everyone says to go to init 3 or what ever, but when I try doing that I just guess this message saying powernow-k8: Your BIOS does not provide ACPI _PSS objects in a way that Linux understands. Please report this to the Linux ACPI maintainers and complain to your BIOS vendor. powernow-k8: Your BIOS does not provide ACPI _PSS objects in a way that Linux understands. and i also tried sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop but it just says command not found. my gdm is in the usr/sbin directory idk if that has to be changed or not but i'm really new to this and I am completely lost.

I'm trying to install FC 12 or 13 on an HP DL380 G6 server. The problem occurs just after the image is loaded off of the DVD. After a bunch of boot messages scroll up the screen, a final message appears stating waiting for hardware to initialize. At that point, the video signal goes away and never comes back. I have to power cycle to regain control. If I select the option to do an install with a basic video driver, the installation proceeds beyond that message and I can finish the installation, however, my graphics resolution is 800x640 and I can't change it. Is there a reported compatibility problem with the HP server and FC? Is there something I can do so that I can get past the failure and be able to operate with a decent resolution?
