My bluetooth chip is no longer seen by bcm203x. Only thing I did before last rebooting was upgrade udev.
Edit: I built in all bluetooth protocols and drivers, still no interface shown in hciconfig.
I had bluetooth working in KDE on Natty. After a re-install of the OS, the icon disappeared from the panel. How can bluetooth be restored manually?

I wanted to set my Desktop cube using Compiz and selected OpenGL, but this blew my whole UI away and I cannot control anything anymore. From the empty screen I opened the application console using crtl + F2 There, a Login shows up but I do not know how to login (yeah LOLing here too). Username and my Password didnt make it. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Rocketfish bluetooth keyboard and mouse combo and am running Ubuntu 10.04. The mouse was easy to set up. I just went to the bluetooth icon and clicked add new device and it connected. The same wasn't true for the keyboard. It gives me the code to type so I typed it and pressed enter and... nothing. So I found a little tutorial and I had to install bluez and type in the terminal, "sudo hidd --search" then enter my password (which I needed to grab my other keyboard to do) and it connected. If I don't use it for a while or reboot, the keyboard will not connect. I have to do the hidd search again which means I need to keep my extra keyboard handy. I had it set up before where it would connect on a reboot, but I got a new hard drive and reinstalled Ubuntu, now I can't remember how I set it up. Could I have set up bluez wrong?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have successfully managed to connect a Razer Orochi bluetooth mouse with no issues. This also connects automatically when i start up the machine.
I also have a Logitech MX5000 keyboard that i can connect but it never survives the reboot. I have to manually connect it each time.
The only difference i can see between the two is the keyboard asks for a passkey whereas the mouse doesnt.

Ive had a few freeze ups on this system but the last time it affected the top panel.The wireless icon has disappeared to be replaced by an extra bluetooth icon.screenshot attached.Is there any kind of clean up utility (like tune up utilities in win)Also, any kind of log so I can trace this freeze up Iḿ getting.Ive only just got this laptop so dont know if it did it before although prev owner never mentioned it.

It actually cause the default interface (eth0) to fail as well, I must manually go in and remove the configuration for the eth:0:0 and restart the network to get it running again. I've installed transmission-daemon on my headless Ubuntu 11.04 server and use the web interface to manage it. This is all working fine. However, after a reboot it seems that transmission daemon starts but the webinterface is unavailable. I get this in the syslog after a reboot:

I have installed Fedora 14 about 4 days ago. I have set all the networking parameters like dns path, hostname etc. I have also ensured that I select the check-box for "Enable automatically when system starts" for eth0 interface. But weirdly, whenever I boot my system(or restart), I see that the interface eth0 is disabled. I have to manually enter as root and enable it, each time I boot/reboot my system. Why is this happening? Could you please suggest a way so that I have eth0 interface enabled always when I boot up?Also, my domainname also is not boot-persistent. What steps should I take to ensure that the domainname set once persists across reboots?

I want to make my configuration reboot friendly. With what I have right now, as soon as I reboot the laptop, the wireless interface configuration isn't correctly setup. I have to do "ifdown eth1; ifup eth1" manually.

The bluetooth manager does not detect a bluetooth dongle .trying to use ndiswrapper to fix.I installed device manager and the results are shown below.i downloaded the windows driver suite. It has 4 .exe self extracting driver archives and a setupconfig.ini. The .ini file is below.I was able to extract one of the 32bit archives on a windows machine and it had about 8 .inf files that are titled weird and would not install properly using ndiswrapper probably because im using the 64-bit architecture. there are 2 64bit .exe's in the driver download, but how can i extract them in ubuntu and do i really need to install all 8 .inf files. also do i actually need to make a .inf file? if so how?

When I do...# iptables -L...I see rules in my INPUT and OUTPUT chains that look scary:ACCEPT all -- anywhere anywhere...but these rules only apply to the loopback interface. I tested it and the server cannot be reached on open ports from the outside world. How can I make iptables show the interfaces that the rules apply to?Otherwise, every time I do iptables -L it will scare the crap out of me.

The interface "eth0", which is down, was not displayed, but loopback interface has been displayed. So, how can I make my application display all interfaces, including the interfaces which are down, but excluding the loopback interface?
Further to this LQ thread which Tinkster solved by suggesting the last command (thanks Tinkster) I have been exploring last -x reboot and have found that the reported duration is incorrect for the last reboot and shutdown when a old wtmp file is used. Not having a record for the following shutdown, last assumes that the system has been up until the current time and similarly for the shutdown.
The output comes in time order, latest first, each line showing the time of the reboot and the uptime from then to shutdown. Using last -x reboot shutdown to show the shutdown time, here's an illustration

The boot started at "Wed Mar 10 14:12" which had an actual uptime of 1 day 11:20 is reported as 15 days 03:13 which is the time from then until the last -f /var/log/wtmp.1 -x reboot shutdown command was issued. The time from shutdown to shutdown is similarly affected.
I just booted up and was told to manually enter maintainence mode and run fsck which I done. Something came up about do I want to connect to lost+found: yes/no to which I entered yes and one other error was found which was fixed. When I rebooted again GNOME wouldn't start because it couldn't find the directory /var/lib/gdm. The services dbus, nfs-common and exum4 also failed to start. I can log in as root and use the command line OK, however the directory /var/lib has disappeared completely and this is affecting various packages.

Before today I had fedora on it, but it doesn't matterOn my 76GB HD, I had Ubuntu 10.04, which I use most of the time.On my 250GB HD I have Ubuntu 11.04I usually use 10.04 because the graphics drivers on 11.04 don't work for me. I wanted to play a windows game, but couldn't get it working on Wine 1.2 on Ubuntu 10.04. I remembered I had Wine 1.3 on my Ubuntu 11.04, so I booted that OS.
It had been a month since I last used 11.04, so there were 180MB of updates which I installed. Then I tried my windows game in Wine. I still couldn't get it to work, so I gave up and rebooted my PC so I could go back to my main OS, Ubuntu 10.04.But I couldn't.Apparently something I did above was enough to mess up GRUB, and it wouldn't boot any OS. I think it couldn't find my hard drives or something. GRUB just stopped working.
I read a few guides about reinstalling GRUB from the liveCD, but I couldn't understand them. So I thought I'd just install Ubuntu 10.04 on my 27GB hard drive, which then should install GRUB along with it and automatically find my other OSes, Ubuntu 10.04 on my 76GB HD and Ubuntu 11.04 on my 250GB.I did this, and GRUB now works, but for some reason it can only see Ubuntu 10.04 which I just installed on my 27GB HD and Ubuntu 11.04 on my 250GB HD, and not Ubuntu 10.04 on my 76GB HD, which is my main OS!Does anybody know why and how I can fix this?TL;DR I have three hard drives.
