View 1 RepliesFirst of all: I'm using Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal x64 on a Athlon 64 X2 2.1Ghz, with a NVidia GeForce 8600GT(quite old, i know). I Have 2 Monitors and generally use the 2nd to watch movies, music videos, things like that on Windows 7 and wanted to do that on Ubuntu too. But it won't let me drag anything on the 2nd monitor as it holds the cursor on the 1st monitor when dragging programs/windows/anything. Using Xinerama(on Xserver) give strange thing when 2nd monitor is totally black, can't see any menus and can only do anything by keyboard shortcut

Using system monitor to watch cpu usage, as soon as I fire up transmission, the cpu usage spikes to 99 and 100 percent and the transmission window grays out. I set firestarter to allow bit torrent usage, I was wondering if there was something else I needed to do or if transmission was broken. View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to watch tv on my monitor with mythtv. I had my card configured correctly. The first half of the Hauppauge 1600 is for analog tuning, so I have to select ivtv from the dropdown menu. I am receiving an error message stating that it cannot be opened. An hour ago It was fine. When It was working fine and everything was normal, I still could not receive any video on the tv. in mythtv. I receive a red screen. The coax cable is running from the wall into the card. I do not want to run it through my cable box for it seems difficult to configure a remote. I went to schedule direct and downloaded the correct guide for my region(which is the US). What could be the problem? I have searched forums and articles. I really want to use mythtv and cease using Windows Media Center. Does analog tv work in Mythtv. I am using the 0.24 version. My operating system is windows xp and I do not have a graphics card setup for tv-out yet.

I am using Ubuntu 9.10. I can do remote desktop into the system with a monitor attached but when I reboot the system without a monitor attached I am unable to do remote desktop into it.
I want to use this system as a headless system and only use remote desktop to control it.
So I guess I need to start X and gnome without a monitor attached.
What do I need to do to get this to run?
I have been trying and trying to get remote desktop to work without using a monitor connected to the server. I have the server set up to where it can be rebooted and everything perfectly fine remotely (as long as it has a monitor). Unfortunately, I need this to be not connected to a monitor-PERIOD. I would think this would be something to be working out of the box, but I guess not.

I ran the following commands on my ubuntu desktop :
xrandr --output VGA-0 --mode 1680x1050
xrandr --output VGA-1 --mode 1680x1050
xrandr --output VGA-1 --left-of VGA-0
This gives me dual head. I have a second machine on the same 100mbps network that is also running Ubuntu. I want to run X on that machine and have it's X session as a monitor in xrandr, so I would add something like this :xrandr --output REMOTE-1 --right-of VGA-1Is this possible?

Unfortunately, they have English subtitles, which is (depending on who you ask) somewhere between "annoying" and "actively harmful to my learning".When I'm watching them in a window, I can just move them near the bottom of the screen, or put another window over them. That's awkward, but it kind of works. But I'd like to watch them full-screen, on my TV set. Full-screen Flash doesn't let me put any window on top of it.Is there a way to watch an online Flash video but block out part of it?
