Not sure if this was the right place to post this. Recently installed Ubuntu Netbook remix on my netbook. On Windows I used IIS and pointed my website to a directory full of video files all in .avi containers, enabled directory browsing and could watch files in the browser on my PS3.
I'm wondering how I go about doing this in Apache? Since there isn't any GUI to do it for me like in IIS :P.
Actuaaly i am creating watch on one directory in which files are continuously coming.Is there any command which can give listing of all files who have come in last 24 hrs.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to setup an Apache server on my computer which will allow browsing of files in a specific directory and subdirectories, without needing any sort of authentication.
I've got the Apache2 server up and running through yast, and everything works fine as long as I try to point it to the /www/htdocs folder. However, I want to point it at another folder, which is on another partition. This partition is formatted as NTFS, if that matters at all (here's some background on some permissions issues I had with the NTFS partitions recently).
When I change the "Directory" setting in the Yast http server configuration utility to the directory on the NTFS partition I wish to use, attempting to access the server results in the following error:
Code: Access Forbidden: You don't have permission to access the requested directory. There is either no index document or the directory is read-protected. If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster.

Is it possible to install and use Flash Player whilst running under a Tor enabled browser. I have seen a version compiled to run under Windows but don't want to go backwards! I am running Ubuntu 10.10.

I have sym link of a folder in /var/www/test (test is the symlinked folder). If I write in the address bar of the browser http://x.x.x.x/album/img_name.jgp I can see the picture, but I want contents not to be available. Is that different from file browsing and how to disable it?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI was having trouble getting php files to display properly on my ubuntu 10.10 LAMP setup. Everything was installed with defaults and working properly. testphp.php worked as long as it was in the sites parent directory, but any php files in user directories did not work. All browsers tried to download the php files located in /home/user/public_html instead. I tried to use the help documents here, [URL]..
Finally I was browsing around in the /etc/apache2/mods-available directory and looked at the php5.conf file. Here is the relevant information from the file:

I'm trying to add a network printer. I went to Admin > printing > New...It started searching for printers, then brought up a "New Printer" box... So I expand Network Printer, and go to "windows printer via SAMBA"When I hit browse, it shows my workgroup, so I expand WORKGROUP, and it shows the PC thats sharing the printer... however, soon as I expand that PC thats sharing the printer, the WHOLE thing closes out
Printer configuration, new printer, SMB browser, all of it closes as if i killed the process or something... I can even refresh and try expanding workgroup again and it'll close out
I made a fresh install of Kubuntu 9.10 with KDE 4.3 last week and everything went well. Everything except the web browsers. Whenever I browsing sites the browser will freeze up. Sometimes if I wait long enough, I'll be back up and running. However, sometimes I have to force quit. I have noticed that in some instances the freezing will be isolated to one tab, while other tab are in fine working condition. what could cause this and how to make it stop? I say Web Browsers because I use Chrome and Firefox and it happens to both of them.

The problem is with Bluetooth connectivity to my cell phone device.It connects to the cell phone and set trusted but I can't seem to see any option of "Browse files on Device".Does that mean in KDE I actually can not browse my Bluetooth connected devices?The same thing happened with Mandriva2010-Kde and Fedora13 Kde , I mean I guess It's related to KBluetooth app.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhat I have is Xubuntu running as a VM with VirtualBox on my Windows 7 Media Center that is always on. I am trying to be able to remotely access an X display on that box to do network auditing/ various linux stuff from the various places I go. I would like it to be as simple as possible and leave no trace on the remote computer, so what I would like is to use a java-enabled browser to connect to an xvfb on xubuntu with SSL encryption. I almost got it working using cherokee/x11vnc/desktop.cgi but it only works once or twice and I get network errors even on localhost. I would rather just not have X running all the time on the VM and just have an xvfb display waiting/created when I log in remotely from a browser.

This is not practical for security as the resulting tar.gz file contains a full mysql backup as well as other items that the general public shouldn't be downloading.What permissions do I need to set so that the directory /var/www/site/backups cannot be browsed to in a browser but can be read / written by the CMS when a PHP script calls it?

I'm quite new to linux but I have configured a simple ftp server and it's working great. I have a FTP-Shared folder with upload and download subfolders. Under upload's and download's I have identical category subfolders like mp3's, movies, software etc. in both. I have one virtual host with a sub directory that contains pdf news letters.do not want the directory browsable and tried putting an index.php file that re-directshe user to the root directory but when I go to the [web address]/[directory name] in any browser I see the contents of the folder listed.
Currently the news letter list is drawn from a database table and displayed as links on a page in the root directory. The links point to the file name in the sub directory. How do I block users from going to that sub directory and seeinge contents of that directory listed? Would I add another <directory> statement in the vhosts.conf file? If so how would I structure that directive?
I've just installed Slackware 13.1 in two different laptops for first time. I have some strange internet browsing behaviour in one of the laptops. I've installed 2 internet browsers(firefox,opera) using the directions from Slackbuilds.org and there is also konqueror pre-installed. Moreover I installed Wicd network manager.
I can browse some pages e.g. ..... with firefox very slowly but NEVER facebook. I can browse almost any page, even facebook, with OPERA but very very slowly. The same goes with konqueror... Wicd shows that i am always connected with my WPA wireless network

Search for "file-browser-applet" in the Synaptic Package Manager. The applet with exactly that name is what you need. It allows to browse and open files on your computer from the GNOME panel. Once installed, "Add to panel".

I had set two 700MB links for download in firefox 3.6.3 by browser itself. But for reasons unknown, she can't access the bit which she needs to. It says: 'can't set the browser' Java is enabled and so on, we read the instructions. On her windoze computer, she has a digital certificate. I copied it onto my mem-stick. When I try to copy it from my mem-stick to my Linux machine, I can't. Not even as root! The folder is called 'certificado digital' and contains two folders:
Trash.(tilde)1 and VM_Ware_Workstation They both have some kind of encrypted stuff inside. Can this certificate be installed on my machine?? Trash has 5 things, VM_Ware_Workstation has 3 things. The guy who set this up for her told her she must use Mozilla. Is a certificate only valid with a particular browser?
I've an network architecture where for the user to reach the machine that it want, it has to pass through a frontend machine.

The connections between all hosts uses ssh. If I want to reach the Machine1, I've to authenticate to the Frontend and authenticate again to the Machine1. The Machine1 and the Frontend doesn't have X installed - only console mode.
The Machine1 has the file in my HOME directory called: hello.html that contains flash embedded. I would like to view the hello.html in my browser located at the User machine.
Is there a way to access remotely to the html file, without have to copy the file to my local machine?
How would i go about copying files to a directory, yet skip the files that already exist in the directory, and also remove the files that are in the directory. For example:

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using Dell inspiron 1210 and installed netbook remix 10.10 recently. But I have trouble with watching video files with any players, including built-in player, SMPlayer, VLC media player.
Video is not appear with those players and can see only black screens. Sound works well. I think there are some troubles with codecs, But though I installed some codecs and restricted-extra, there are no improvements. What should I do to see video with this system? Those video files can be watched with my desktop;Ubuntu 10.04 and VLC player so I think files has no problem. Dell inspiron 1210 specification; Intel Atom Z530, GMA500, 1GB Ram. GMA500 driver has installed.
