View 2 Replies View RelatedIs this possible that a process running on a remote-host only inform nagios when some thing is wrong. Rather then nagios-monitoring-server checking through NRPE every so often. Reason is I want to add too many alerts in the application. And I don't want a whole list of ok messages.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe issue is that my CentOS workstation is in a vlan from where the Intranet's DNS servers are unreachable. For browsing the web there is an ISA proxy server, which I presume resolves DNS for my firefox. However, wget, host, ping and aria2c fail to get any sort of DNS resolution since they're being run from command line.I have exported HTTP_PROXY value, which provides me internet access on console, but, only when I connect using IP address. It fails on name resolution.
My question is:May I redirect the DNS queries to my home PC which would be running a DNS server on a non standard port?I was thinking of putting nameserver 127.0.0.1 in /etc/resolv.conf and then put iptables rule to redirect 127.0.0.1:53 UDP to a.public.ip.address:3535 UDP..I don't know if I am shooting blanks or what, I am not very much aware of this kind of setup. My main need is to provide DNS resolution to console apps.I want to utilize my company's idle bandwidth for bulk downloads, so, using proxy, SSH tunneling through my Home PC is out of question.

I'm trying to implement remote NFS in our network
So I read a lot of posts on the Internet, but I don't understand which ports I have
to open/forward for this.
On some posts I see a lot of ports, I don't want to do this.
If this is the case, and I would set up NFS through an ssh tunnel, then do I only need the ssh port and does this mean it will always work if the server is reachable through ssh?
Or is this wishful thinking ?
I have scalix (sendmail) installed on my server and it is working very good but I need to change the smtp listening port because I am thinking that my sendmail is being used as a spam engine.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've recently installed OpenVPN on my dedicated server (Fedora) in order to have full internet access for all of my WinXP clients. In case somebody is interested in the details of the OpenVPN installation, I followed this documentation: Rootserver-as-OpenVPN-Gateway. The installation runs quire nicely, I'm able to surf the net and even file-sharing programs work on the XP clients - at least to some extent. There is a slight problem though: the file-sharing programs complain that they have a "NAT problem" or that they are "Firewalled".
Most likely, this problem can be addressed by configuring remote port forwarding (RPF) on the server. The only routing rules which I've added on the server during the OpenVPN installation are these:
Code:
# initialize natting for openvpn
iptables -t nat -F POSTROUTING
echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward
iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o eth0 -s 10.66.66.0/24 -j MASQUERADE
Let's assume a certain application on a client is listening on e.g. port 1234. How do I configure RPF for this port on the server side.

I am trying to make my home server accessible to the whole web. I have installed Nginx on my Fedora 15 64-bit Linux machine, and it works with localhost but it doesn't work online or allow other computers on the network to access it via the IP address. It keeps coming back with: Could not connect
I have port forwarding. I have even tried different ports but they all seem to be blocked. What could be wrong? I have a netgear router.
I was just wondering what I have to edit in order to get Maia Mailguard to listen on port 443 instead of port 80
