View 2 RepliesI have been trying to install lmms on my Slackware 12.1 system.I have installed QT, cmake in order to compile the source.
It seemed to install correctly (after a bit of reading about how cmake works....) but gives me this on run:
Quote:
bash-3.1$ lmms
Notice: could not set realtime priority.lmms: symbol lookup error: lmms: undefined symbol: _ZN8QPainter10drawPixmapERK7QPointFRK7QPixmap
bash-3.1$
So my understanding is that it is missing a file or command associated with the program, through it not being linked or not existing. Is there any way I can find out where it thinks this file/data should be, so as to ascertain what libs/packages have it? As far as I can tell, I have all dependencies satisfied.....
I have installed the lmms-vst package (converted from a deb package) but I still not see the VeSTige Instrument in the Instrument plugins list. I really want to use VST plugins.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI use abcde to rip and encode all my music. It works great especially the option of ripping an entire cd to one flac or mp3 file, this was great for Sleep's Jerusalem. Anyway I have a cd by the Melvins (the Maggot) which they famously split each track into two tracks midway through the song. I would like to know if there is a way to rip them into "whole" tracks?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been using opensuse for about a week.(although I'm not completely a linux noob) I've been slowly moving more of the stuff I do on windows over to suse. I thought my sound was working fine until I decided to get mp3s running on amarok. I followed a bunch of guides which didn't work. While I was messing around with stuff I noticed a startup noise. I just assumed it didn't have a startup noise. At some point I broke all of my sound except running wine, so I reinstalled.
Now that I've noticed, none of my notification sounds work. Stuff like skype, firefox, and wine still give me sounds.
(If anyone could point me in the direction of a good place to get mp3s working on amarok would be nice as well.)
why dont lmms work on ubuntu karmic 9.10?

This machine came loaded with Windows7 & I have successfully dual booted it with Ubuntu Lucid 10.04.3.
The problem I am having is that I cannot get the sound to work at all in Ubuntu. No opening sounds or anything else that I have tried. No Web sounds, no CD sounds... All sounds work fine on the Windows side, but nothing I have tried so far seem to work with Ubuntu & I have tried many options from many threads.
I've checked my /var/log dir and can't find anything.

View 2 Replies View Relatedhave setup a LAMP server with ubuntu 10.04 server edition x86 for my study in VMware Workstation 7.1 For a assignment I had to make a php script that would load a file up to the server and set the name in a mysql database. According to the book the server should set the image in a cryptic folder in the /tmp/ folder.
This isn't working and i also try'd locate and find to find the image i uploaded. I checked the php.ini and file uploads were on but no folder so i set that one to /tmp/ but still no images. Can anyone help me with enabling this function?
I recently got a pile of DEC equipment, and along with it came with a large DEC LP11 drum printer. I have yet to get the old system they were attached to up and running, I want to try to get the printer up and running under a modern linux install. The printer is a LP11 and attaches via serial. The most simple way to me seems to be via LPD, but Im not sure on how to proceed.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow do I remove that annoying drum sound from the login screen.I went to PREFERENCES -> LOGIN SCREEN, but there are no tabs or boxes for sound. Only options to determine who I want to log in.I tried GCONF-EDITOR, and drilled down to /apps/gdm/simple-greeter/settings-manager-plugins/sound/active and unchecked the active box, rebooted, but it still plays that stupid sound. And the box is unchecked if I check it! I've tried the solutions in the forum and nothing seems to kill that annoying sound.I'm still on 9.10 right now, since 10.04 has a nasty screen flicker problem.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to figure out what in the world is going on with my sound in OpenSuSE. I put in a brand new Audigy chipset soundcard and finally got some sound to come out of the speakers. I used the guide here: SDB:AudioTroubleshooting - openSUSE. to fix the permissions on my sound and am able to get sound-test to play sounds as well as connect to the sound device in my vmware and play sounds. That being said, I have terrible sound quality coming out. There is a lot of static sound like white noise and the volume of the actual sound played is very low compared to the noise. The sounds also distort somewhat.
I have tried the pulse audio change in the tutorial above also and have been searching around google. The only problem that I saw similar was a person who fixed the problem by updating KDE. I don't have KDE, I'm using Afterstep.

I have an old AthlonXP-2600+ running at 2.078 Ghz which I was assured would do 2.6Ghz, but actually doesn't and 2.178 Ghz is what we settled on. I have 266mhz ram on a board with 333mhz FSB and we sorted that out also, and specified the ram speed. That sounds like under 10% of a speed increase, if any. But the previous kernel I built here took 55 minutes (time make -j4). The one I built after the mods (nearly same config) took 33 minutes. (make clean; time make -j4) 40%? I've clearly improved or fixed something.

I have openSUSE 11.1 on a ppc machine.I have enabled all the repos, adding to it the packman repo and the GNOME community and GNOME stable repos.I see most of the dependencies there, but a few aren't there. Specifically, ladspa-foo-plugins is keeping me from installing it right now. Does anyone know of a repo that supplies all the dependencies for lmms?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI did see another topic on this forum regarding VSTs in LMMS, but it didn't solve my problem. I am running using the 64-bit testing branch of debian, which may be causing some of my problems. I tried compiling LMMS myself, but I ran into an issue with wine when it tried to compile RemoteVstPlugin.
It seems as though wine didn't install winegcc or any other tools like that. After a while, I did manage to find winegcc and some of the other tools in /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/wine/bin. I decided to add some symlinks in /usr/local/bin to point to winegcc, wineg++, winecpp, and winebuild. After that, it seemed to give a different error message, but still failed to compile. It now gives me the following error:
Code: Select all[ 83%] Generating RemoteVstPlugin
/usr/bin/ld: Relocatable linking with relocations from format elf64-x86-64 (/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/wine/wine/libwinecrt0.a(exe_entry.o)) to format elf32-i386 (RemoteVstPlugin.Azfbf1.o) is not supported
winebuild: /usr/bin/ld failed with status 1
[Code] ....
I may be missing some dependencies because I couldn't run build-dep without removing skype but I don't think that's the problem. I thought the above problem may have something to do with wine, so I was going to try compiling wine to. I ran into problems with that, and ditched that idea. I really don't know what to do anymore. I can't just disable VST support, because that's why I tried to compile LMMS by myself to begin with!
Full Wine is installed, so VST should work. All VST plugins cause LMMS to hang. However, the dials and such on the plugins are responsive, so I think its a problem with LMMS. For that matter VST works perfectly under Reaper, which is a platinum rated Windows program running under Wine.
