I am fairly clueless when it comes to open vpn configuration file. Though I should have some understanding to execute the fix if it is available.
I have a ovpn file that is created by my organization (so theoretically there should be nothing wrong with it) containing not only the typical connection information, but also my CA key, certerficate/Public and certificate/Private key. I was able to locate these keys using the standard text editors.
When I follow the procedure to import (Right click on Internet Icon --> Edit Connection --> VPN Tab --> Import) none of my keys were imported (perhaps the import is not complete). I think because of the import failure I was not able to click ok and create the connection.
Is there a method to get around this and get it working? I have been looking for existing solution online but I was not able to find any similar cases with mine.
I noticed that if I bring up an openvpn client connection with the $openvpn client.ovpn command from console, I cannot get out of it.Even if I close the console it was started from it remains on.I tries a bunch of stuff, that all ultimately failed, and eventually rebooted.
I am trying to setup multipath with failover policy on openSuSE 11. I have two qla2xxx HBA's installed and they appear to be working. Here is the output of "multipath -l" command
[Code]....
While testing, I pulled one of the two connection to SAN, and the connection failed over to second HBA connection to SAN. When I plug the cable back in, it does not fall back to original connection... It stays in failed state. Also, I noticed that failed disk (sdd disk) comes back as (sdg disk), which is probably why connection does not fall back to original HBA. But, when I run "/sbin/service multipathd restart" sdg disk shows as as enabled in multipath -l...
I am running an Ubuntu Server on a VirtualBox VM running on my windows machine. So I've created a self-signed certificate using the following tutorial: [URL]
From this tutorial I'm left with 3 files: server.key server.csr server.crt
Then I found this very similar tutorial that has an extra bit on installing the certificates in apache: [URL] So I followed it's instructions which boil down to this:
[Code]...
So I'm thinking this should work now. However in Chrome I get: SSL connection error Unable to make a secure connection to the server. This may be a problem with the server, or it may be requiring a client authentication certificate that you don't have. Error 107 (net::ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR): SSL protocol error. IE8 gives me a typical "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" Note that [URL] fails while [URL] works fine, so it's definitely something in my ssl setup I'm thinking.
I virtualised backtrack on windows 7, and set up the network connection to bridged mode, but my networking still fails. dhclient eth0, outputs many DHCPDISCOVER but no DHCP offers.
I'm trying to setup PPPoE connection to establish my DSL connection, but I got
Code: pppoe[3885]: read (asyncReadFromPPP): Session 4479: Input/output error pppd[4104]: Cannot determine ethernet address for proxy ARP in my sylog file.
When I do pppoe-start, it connected but I cannot ping into any destination (even to my modem in the same network). DNS servers are explicitly set in pppoe.conf and resolv.conf. Did I miss anything?
I have ovpn configuration files for Windows from SwitchVPN. They do not provide configuration files for GNU/Linux. They said I can extract the certificate and key files from the ovpn files, but I'm confused about how to do that.First of all, I don't know which Authentication Type to choose: "Certificates (TLS)," "Password," "Password with Certificates (TLS)" or "Static Key."
Second, I don't know what to put where from the ovpn file. I see a <ca> </ca> section and a <tls-auth> </tls-auth> section, but I don't see how those correspond to any of the Authentication Types. "Certificates (TLS)" and "Password with Certificates (TLS)" require two certificates and a key, "Password," requires one certificate and no key, and "Static Key" requires a key and key direction but no certificate. When I connect to SwitchVPN in Windows, it asks for a user name and password. Here's an example of the ovpn files (certificate and key contents removed):

how to get what I need from the ovpn files, and which Authorization Type to choose in the Network Manager VPN configuration GUI, and what to put in the blanks?
I am trying to Setup citrix ICA client 9 on Ubuntu 9.04 Server. I installed it very easily and I am not getting any lib error also. But when I try to connect to the citrix server, it fails with a pop up saying "Error in Network Connection Network or Dialup connection may be preventing ......" This is driving me crazy from 3 days. My project is to check the feasiblity of a Linux desktop
I'm building a file server using Ubuntu. I want to setup an HTML based file upload/download system where I can create accounts for a few users and allow each user access certain folders. So that the user would open it like a webpage using a web browser and then uploads and downloads files, not needing special setup for the computer. Is there a ready made solution for that purpose? Will I have to code it?
Been messing around with Ubuntu 9.1 for the last few weeks and am loving it so far. Been trying to get in the terminal and learn a little something, to no avail. LOL I have been googling and searching the site today for info on networking. My Linux box is a desktop, with my main HDD mounted with music, and movies and some other stuff. My intent is to network the two laptops in the house (Windows XP and Windows 7) to the Linux box so I can listen to my music and watch movies when not in the office. I have found some info, mostly involving Samba, and plan to install Samba tonight and fiddle with it. My issue was with security. I have read a few posts and they talk about the fact that if you share files in this manner, the set up is not secure at all. Is this something i should really be concerned about? If the folders I share only have my music and videos in them,
jump into a Linux class in college with only 3 weeks left in the course. I thought I would be able to catch on, and go figure, it didn't exactly happen that way. I was given an assignment to do, and I am so far lost it isn't even funny. I need to create a directory structure, set up file security, create a step by step instruction manual on how to copy/delete said files, and create a guide to common Linux commands. How would I create these files in root and share them with the other users? and where can I find a list of common commands and their functions?
I would like to use an extra physical hard drive in my linux server to provide my wife a place to backup her Windows XP desktop.I am willing to format this drive as NTFS (or anything else) and have it dedicated to this purpose. I am wondering what is the easiest way to proceed?
Been trying to setup my xorg.conf file to have a 1920x1200 screen.Strange behavior: when my X starts up, I see my mouse cursor, can move it around. It's small enough to suggest the 1920x1200 resolution took, is working. However, the rest of the screen remains black. No login prompt.I've looked at /var/log/xorg.conf, no errors. Is there something else I can look at?
How can a directory mount the hard drive? How can a list of files sitting on a hard drive that is not in RAM run your computer and then mount the physical device that stores the code that it is running? Obviously the CPU can access the hard drive before this so how does this massive abstraction make physical sense?I'm thinking that if this is abstracted to this extent so is the "/.../.../" path nomenclature as well. Is this just to change directories and or an environmental variable? Is the file really farther the more slashes that are in it?
When connecting to a database in a php script, where would be the safest place to store the connect.php file. I am thinking it should not be in public_html, but is it safe in sub folders or is there a method people generally use to keep such files secure and inaccessible.
The file I mean is one including the database name, user and password etc.
I am having problems gaining access to the BackupPC admin web page. The error:
Quote:
[Tue Feb 22 16:43:59 2011] [error] [client 192.168.0.2] (13)Permission denied: Could not open password file: /etc/BackupPC/htpasswd [Tue Feb 22 16:43:59 2011] [error] [client 82.30.227.113] access to /backuppc failed, reason: verification of user id 'myhtaccessuser' not configured
Why is this occuring, is there anyway of getting around this? I just cant remember originally on my old system how I set this up.
I use 10.04. I have network-manager, openvpn, pptp installed open vpn requires some certification files that I don't know where to get from and the guys who are providing the vpn for me don't offer any, actually they don't know anything about Linux and Ubuntu. I can easily make a connection for windows xp but in Ubuntu...
For pptp: I enter my gateway as the "host in win XP": vpn.their-website.com my user name: ***** my pass: *****
I leave the NT Domain field empty since I have no idea what it is? Apply, and the connection will be created. But, now, how the hell am supposed to connect? I looked all over the net but nothing! And please don't refer to something in panel (the network notification icon) I have deleted all the panels and in main panel I've removed every icon, tell me what to do in menus or in terminal.
In our company we (I) have recently setup a Ubuntu Machine on an old Dimension 8300 to act as a download machine. The reason for this is alot of Tax websites Push word and excel documents through their website as the viewer needs it and we have our WatchGuard setup to block all downloads. So i created this Linux Box to be hooked up to the DMZ in order to have the ability to download these files among other things then scan them for viruses, then put them on a flash drive to let the person have it.
First i Setup VNC so i can remotely maintain this server without leaving my desk because i am Lazy, however it is still on our network so i am able to remote in.Step Two was to set it up on the DMZ. So i thought easy enough just setup an IP, and preferred DNS for it and ill be done. how i would go about Setting up a DMZ connection
I am trying to copy the file on remote server, but I am getting error " ssh: connect to host 172.28.21.14 port 22: Connection timed outlost connection "My two server are bastion10 and newlink, I want to copy file from newlink to bastion10 buet unable. I am able to ping, when i run " lsof -i :22 " command on link3new server I am getting
link3-new:lsof -i :22 sshd 6992 root 4u IPv6 11878 TCP *:ssh (LISTEN) while on bation10 it is ( ESTABLISHED ) ..
Well I installed ubuntu, a fresh install. And where the connection thing is on the top bar it had a red "!" And it wasn't connectin to the internet... Its weird because in the livecd I was in "try ubuntu" and it auto connected to my internet... I deleted "auto eth0" to see if it fixed but it didn't I want to know how to connect to my wired internet adsl?
I have this strange problem. I can't setup my PPPoE connection through the kPPPoE. My ISP told me that this PPPoE has something like name server or something like that and i must use some other package to connect.
installed fedora 14 and trying to set up network connection but when i enter in to network configuration i am not getting active & deactive enabled how to make these enabled?
I have an Ubuntu development server and a Windows 7 workstation. I use Windows Gvim to edit files on the linux server, over a samba connection.Saving files from Windows change the Linux permissions in weird way depending on the Windows app I'm using and also depending on whether there's a file extension or not. Here are some testsNo extension; Notepad2: 644 to 764
matt@mattserver ~ % ls -l testfile -rw-r--r-- 1 matt matt 0 2011-05-28 07:09 testfile --- Save from Windows Notepad2 over network ---
