I am very much new to linux environment and I have a final year project of emulating services on Honeyd. I don't know how to install honeyd on Centos virtual PC. I will be very obliged if someone guide me.
I tried to install honeyd as mentioned on different websites but it is constantly giving me errors.
I've a weird problem about my honeypot project. All start from installation until running process is going smoothly but when I try to ping my honeyd vm from honeyd host it couldnt but it can be ping from other machine inside my local network. I am also usinng arpd for ARP request reply and standard honeyd config.
When I try to run honeyd I get the following error: honeyd: error while loading shared libraries: libdnet.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory. Its been 3 days and I've been unable to get past this error. I've tried symlinking the installed libdnet to /usr/lib, reinstalling everything on a clean system.
libdnet-1.11 libevent-1.3a libpcap-0.9.8 arpd honeyd-1.5c GNU Linux x86_64

How do I run the ddclient on opensuse 11.2 64 bit ?How do I check its running ok ?.Installed version is ddclient-3.8.0-5.2.x86_64
I need to use the DDclient to update dynamic DNS entries for a account on Dynamic DNS Network Services free DNS service [URL].. Here is a sample /etc/ddclient.conf file I'll use, with changes to user/pass.
i have opensuse 11.3 installed in my system and i want to install xp as the second os in my system. in my boot sequence boot from cd/dvd is at 1st preference but xp is not booting from the cd. cd is also correct n my optical drive is also working.
Install process gets all the way through to the point where it's copying files from CD to hdd. As soon as it gets to 100% my screen goes blank and it freezes up like that. The monitor then goes into standby mode, like it normally does when not connected to the computer (the green LED turns to orange). There is no command line or anything, I have to press reset button at this point. I can run live from the CD though.
Tried the Check Install Media feature and it gives a readout that md5sum is ok md5: 62210a3034990b44bad86e8d2d69a271 **I have absolutely no clue on how to do this md5sum stuff, especially in Windows XP, so I just skip doing it and go right to burning CD/DVD**
Media is OpenSUSE 11.4 KDE liveCD on a Memorex CD-R 52x, burned at 8x (lowest I was able to go)
Hardware is: Pentium 4 with HT @2.8GHz, 1.5GB DDR, GeForce 6200 graphics (AGP)
Running Window XP Pro on main hdd
Should I figure a bad burn or something related to the CD-R I burned? In which case easy fix is to just download the DVD version and burn that (should have been my first choice I know). Or possibly an incorrect setting in BIOS? There is an option for OS/2 or Non OS/2, maybe its set wrong? I believe its currently set for Non OS/2 which was the default.
**The system I'm installing to is listed in my signature, which lists all the hardware I'm using.**
I was upgrading my system and my battery died in the middle, so now when I boot the system up I get the opensus splash screen but no login box, I have about 300gb of files/docs so formatting and reinstall is not an option for me.
I am trying to install some patches and drivers needed for a wifi card, but im getting an error that says: "build your kernel with CONFIG_LIBIPW=m." How can I recompile the kernel to add that? And can I do it without having to download a new kernel package? (i mean recompiling the existing kernels)
I have opensuse 10.2 and need to install mercurial on it. It doesn't have mercurial package so I downloaded mercurial-1.6 but I don't know how to install mercurial on opensuse.
I've just started using Linux — openSUSE 11.2 — after 15 years of using Windows. From Windows, I'm used to installing any software with just a few clicks. I'm confused by Linux's .tar, .rpm, &c. files; I don't even know how to download them. How can I install browser plugins and other software, like VLC, in openSUSE 11.2/Linux?
I'm growing tired of Gnome and KDE and wish to move towards a more lightweight and customizable interface. I chose Xfce. I downloaded all (I think) the packages related to Xfce but now I'm stumped as to how to actually run it as a default. I might want to try it a couple times first though. Is this possible?
I'm new to Linux, and want to build a system for openSuse 11.3 on Friday.I plan to buy everything then.I'm using Ubuntu now on my laptop. My question is what do you think of the P4 prescott e series 800 mhz FSB as a processor for openSuse.Offer other processors if they will do a good job.
I have gone through Mint, Ubuntu, Fedora, and continue using them on different PCs but I recently had a problem with my graphics card on new releases.. another story all together. So I am using OpenSUSE 11.3 on my Dell inspiron 1526 AMD 64 bit. I have always been able to plug in my external HD and have it show on my desktop. Now with OpenSUSE something is different. I tried other flash drives, all show up and open to view on their own, but my 1GB ext HD doesn't. I am not a pro with the Terminal yet but I prefer to use it and am good at reading and copying commands from online.
upon starting openuse ireceived the msg fsck failed please reboot manually theroot file system is currently mounted read only t oremount it read-writedo: bash# mount -n -o remount,rw/
doesn't seem to do anything if typing above line after giving root password and following red msg appears (repair filesystem #)
I want to dualboot my Lenovo Z61m laptop running XP Home Edition with OpenSuse 11.3. The Hardrive is 200Gb before formatting, and 186.31GB when formatted.I have already partitioned the drive so that my XP is 100GB. There is a 4.8GB recovery partition preinstalled, which I want to keep. I plan to use the last 81.4GB for OpenSuse. Can someone tell me how to set up the rest of the partitions using a Gparted livecd? OpenSuse ising to shrink my XP partition even further to make all the partitions, even though there is already
I just downloaded openSUSE 11 but I don't have an internet connection. I thought that it will find my cable connection automatically like Ubuntu does, but it didn't. It doesn't have a normal network configuration set-up, there is nowhere that it even gives me a choice to select local internet connection or a cable connection. What do I have to do to set it up.
How to configure IP tables in opensuse? My situation is,1. My network is connected in this way...ISP -> Hub -> Firewall Router -> Switches -> DNS ->LANI need to insert a linux system with iptables configured. I am expecting it that it should be between DNS and LAN. For that I am in search of "How to configure IP tables on opensuse10.3
having mail server setup as my topic for my Diploma Final Project.I still confusing choosing which OS to setup, besides i prefer more GUI based configuration rather that command-based.
I did research through the internet about Postfix and Sendmail, also did i need a DNS for my server ? i need a guide.
Also, is it possible to have own domain ? like user@example.com....i mean to have own email address setup.
I will use my laptop to setup the mail server, which is inside Local Area Network(LAN) without going to internet.I hope to use another laptop/pc to do testing on sending and retrieving mail in the network.
