General :: Run The Ddclient On Opensuse 11.2 64 Bit?
Jan 29, 2010
How do I run the ddclient on opensuse 11.2 64 bit ?How do I check its running ok ?.Installed version is ddclient-3.8.0-5.2.x86_64
I need to use the DDclient to update dynamic DNS entries for a account on Dynamic DNS Network Services free DNS service [URL].. Here is a sample /etc/ddclient.conf file I'll use, with changes to user/pass.
I have Ubuntu 10.04 at home have a dyndns account. I use ddclient to update the IP periodically, I am noticing ddclient fails to update sometimes when home server cannot reach checkip.dyndns.org. I have setup to update every 300seconds, if where to start troubleshoot and resolve, Has anyone noticed this and have suggestions on how to force ddclient to update itself. Let me know if further information is required to diagnose.
I am getting this error message: Cannot create file '/var/run/ddclient.pid'. (Permission denied)There is lots of references in google, but no solution.
I have Debian server and have installed Ddclient! It updates IP address when I restart the Ddclient but when I restart the router and my IP changes but the Ddclient does not updates the IP.!
I've started using OpenDNS on my network, the problem is, my router gets an dynamic IP, which means I have to regularly update the OpenDNS settings.
DDClient apparently supports OpenDNS, but the Ubuntu package for it asks for various details I don't know, and can't find. I'd rather not have to boot up a Windows computer just for this.
So I've got two questions, I guess - first is, are any of the Windows clients known to work under Wine (that can retrieve the IP from the router and forward it), and the second being, how exactly do you set up DDClient to use OpenDNS?
I have installed ddclient for use with dyndns.org.
I can manually run it from the prompt with /etc/rc.d/init.d/ddclient start and can verify that it works by checking that my IP has succesfully been changed at dyndns.
When I reboot though, during the startup, I get the following: Starting ddclient: /bin/bash: ddclient: command not found [FAILED]
I am very new to Linux, so I am not sure what or where I should be looking to solve the problem. It seems to me that it must be looking in the wrong spot for ddclient, but I don't know what to check or change to point it at the right place.
im having some trouble with my ddclient configuration. i followed the guide from [URL] and everything seems to be in order however it doesnt work. ive been emailing support at [URL] however they have yet to offer me a viable solution. perhaps someone here may know what my problem is. below is the results of the command: sudo ddclient -daemon=0 -debug -verbose -noquiet below that is my .conf
i am new to linux . i have the basic knowledge of networking. a week ago i installed debian Lenny version on an old pentium 3.in addition i installed a ddclient configured it according to many tutorials....i searched google a few days but didnt find my case.i ran the folowing command :

In the past I've used ddclient to update my zoneedit dynamic dns. Unfortunately, this seems to be broken at the moment. I've submitted a separate thread related to that problem.
What other alternatives are there to ddclient? I'm particularly interested in something that works with zoneedit.com. I'm aware of:
inadyn inadyn-mt
Inadyn is available in ubuntu. So far I have not gotten it to work but I have not tried too hard yet either.
When I run ddclient with an existing ddclient.cache file I get errors saying "uninitialized value" and the remote IP address does not get updated. This pretty much renders ddclient useless. If I delete the cache file then things work fine and the IP address *does* get updated (if need be). I happen to be running version 3.7.3 of ddclient but I've tried this with ddclient 3.8.0 and the result is exactly the same except that the line number in the error changes to line 2030.
Here's the code at that line number :
Code: if ($config{$host}{'login'} eq '') { warning("null login name specified for host %s.", $host); I'm running ubuntu ( 9.04 I think ) and using zoneedit.com for dynamic dns. Here's a transcript showing the problem. root@ruby:/var/cache/ddclient# ddclient
i search some application on to viewer .chm but i try to install so many error..like xchm, GnoCHM etc.can everyone suggest the tutorial..(in google many in ubuntu
Ive a little problem when i want to run my Honeyd on my opensuse OS This command below i used to run honeyd program
./honeyd -f /usr/local/honeyd/share/honeyd/honeyd.conf -l /usr/local/honeyd/share/honeyd/logs but it shows this error message Honeyd V1.5c Copyright (c) 2002-2007 Niels Provos honeyd[5228]: started with -f /usr/local/honeyd/share/honeyd/honeyd.conf -l
[Code].....
is that because im using wireless connection instead of wired?
i have opensuse 11.3 installed in my system and i want to install xp as the second os in my system. in my boot sequence boot from cd/dvd is at 1st preference but xp is not booting from the cd. cd is also correct n my optical drive is also working.
Install process gets all the way through to the point where it's copying files from CD to hdd. As soon as it gets to 100% my screen goes blank and it freezes up like that. The monitor then goes into standby mode, like it normally does when not connected to the computer (the green LED turns to orange). There is no command line or anything, I have to press reset button at this point. I can run live from the CD though.
Tried the Check Install Media feature and it gives a readout that md5sum is ok md5: 62210a3034990b44bad86e8d2d69a271 **I have absolutely no clue on how to do this md5sum stuff, especially in Windows XP, so I just skip doing it and go right to burning CD/DVD**
Media is OpenSUSE 11.4 KDE liveCD on a Memorex CD-R 52x, burned at 8x (lowest I was able to go)
Hardware is: Pentium 4 with HT @2.8GHz, 1.5GB DDR, GeForce 6200 graphics (AGP)
Running Window XP Pro on main hdd
Should I figure a bad burn or something related to the CD-R I burned? In which case easy fix is to just download the DVD version and burn that (should have been my first choice I know). Or possibly an incorrect setting in BIOS? There is an option for OS/2 or Non OS/2, maybe its set wrong? I believe its currently set for Non OS/2 which was the default.
**The system I'm installing to is listed in my signature, which lists all the hardware I'm using.**
I was upgrading my system and my battery died in the middle, so now when I boot the system up I get the opensus splash screen but no login box, I have about 300gb of files/docs so formatting and reinstall is not an option for me.
I am trying to install some patches and drivers needed for a wifi card, but im getting an error that says: "build your kernel with CONFIG_LIBIPW=m." How can I recompile the kernel to add that? And can I do it without having to download a new kernel package? (i mean recompiling the existing kernels)
I have opensuse 10.2 and need to install mercurial on it. It doesn't have mercurial package so I downloaded mercurial-1.6 but I don't know how to install mercurial on opensuse.
I've just started using Linux — openSUSE 11.2 — after 15 years of using Windows. From Windows, I'm used to installing any software with just a few clicks. I'm confused by Linux's .tar, .rpm, &c. files; I don't even know how to download them. How can I install browser plugins and other software, like VLC, in openSUSE 11.2/Linux?
I'm growing tired of Gnome and KDE and wish to move towards a more lightweight and customizable interface. I chose Xfce. I downloaded all (I think) the packages related to Xfce but now I'm stumped as to how to actually run it as a default. I might want to try it a couple times first though. Is this possible?
I'm new to Linux, and want to build a system for openSuse 11.3 on Friday.I plan to buy everything then.I'm using Ubuntu now on my laptop. My question is what do you think of the P4 prescott e series 800 mhz FSB as a processor for openSuse.Offer other processors if they will do a good job.
I have gone through Mint, Ubuntu, Fedora, and continue using them on different PCs but I recently had a problem with my graphics card on new releases.. another story all together. So I am using OpenSUSE 11.3 on my Dell inspiron 1526 AMD 64 bit. I have always been able to plug in my external HD and have it show on my desktop. Now with OpenSUSE something is different. I tried other flash drives, all show up and open to view on their own, but my 1GB ext HD doesn't. I am not a pro with the Terminal yet but I prefer to use it and am good at reading and copying commands from online.
upon starting openuse ireceived the msg fsck failed please reboot manually theroot file system is currently mounted read only t oremount it read-writedo: bash# mount -n -o remount,rw/
doesn't seem to do anything if typing above line after giving root password and following red msg appears (repair filesystem #)
I want to dualboot my Lenovo Z61m laptop running XP Home Edition with OpenSuse 11.3. The Hardrive is 200Gb before formatting, and 186.31GB when formatted.I have already partitioned the drive so that my XP is 100GB. There is a 4.8GB recovery partition preinstalled, which I want to keep. I plan to use the last 81.4GB for OpenSuse. Can someone tell me how to set up the rest of the partitions using a Gparted livecd? OpenSuse ising to shrink my XP partition even further to make all the partitions, even though there is already
