I checked if the plugin is installed on Google Chrome by typing about:plugins it says Shockwave flash but no Shockwave player. I have tried looking for the Shockwave player plugin from Debian packages and the official website but I cannot install it from the official website of the Shockwave player because it is only available for Windows and Mac. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have shockwave flash installed properly under Centos 5.5 running in virtualbox 3.2.12. I had no problems when I was using flash under 5.4 but for some reason can not access any videos or audio. I have confirmed that it is installed. I even tried renistalling it. It does show up as an add-on in Firefox too.

I'm trying to get Shockwave (actual Shockwave, not Flash) working in Firefox 3.6 series on (L)Ubuntu 10.04. (And for that matter I'll also want Authorware. Yes, I need these things.)
[Code]...
The Windows version of Firefox does play Shockwave, but it's ugly as sin, I'd rather not be depending on wine for the web browser, and worst I can't get Java installed in wine - I really want one browser with Flash, Shockwave, Authorware, and Java support (see this thread for the background).I've heard Crossover can do it, but have yet to try this.
how I can get Shockwave working in the Linux version of Firefox? Changing distros is an option, if anyone has success stories from a different distro.
I know there are many threads about dual boot linux windows. I did a search but couldn't find for this specific question. I'm planning to use Puppy Linux as my main OS on my P4 machine. I asked a friend of mine who knows Linux very well. I asked should I install Puppy alone on my P4 machine? He told me that I should dual boot with XP because sometimes Linux alone does not compatible with graphic card, sound card, Ethernet adapter, etc. If dual boot Linux with Windows. They both can share the same drivers. Is it true?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just booted to Puppy (for the first time in my life) on a 6 y/o amd type with a 40Gb HD, Ram: 512.I would like to make a permanent install of puppy onto the HD, I have read various pieces on how to install, defraging, repartitioning, differing file systems. However, i am a bit lost. The computer will be used for e-mail, web browsing, and watching the odd film (films installed on the drive) - I am unsure as to the best combination of file types and partition in order to keep puppy happy and keep some compatibility with the world outside of linux.
For instance, could i have a small partition with the puppy install and setting, and the rest on a format that would be compatible with windows/mac/linux? If so, how do I do this, pls bare in mind that my windows install is running but incomplete. I have the feeling this will be a really simple problem for someone to help me with,

Dropping out to initial ramdisk console" then it goes to "/bin/sh can't access tty; jon control turned off". then it stays like that and doesn't continue.

I didn't have an explanation why it won't work in Linux yet.....Can someone shed light on this for me please? View 2 Replies View RelatedI have disks of Lucid Puppy 5.11 and MacPup 5.11. Both disks run very well on my laptop, an old 2001 model Sony Vaio which is already booting Ubuntu 10.04 UNE.
But neither finishes loading on my HP Pavilion a1020n desktop, which is running Windoze XP Home. They both bog down on looking for optical drives... interesting as I am loading them from CD and it reads the optical drives fine up to that point.
It's sad that a quick-loading portable Linux won't load at all on my newer, faster machine.
Maybe it's because the laptop has GRUB already? My HP chokes every time I try to modify the boot sector, lots of "wonderful" security features to keep Windoze from "getting corrupted".
I have downloaded and burnt an iso file of Puppy 5 . What is the best method to upgrade puppy 4 , Which is already on my Toshiba Satellite , To Puppy 5 .
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm fairly new to linux, I can't get puppy to connect to ANY wireless network, protected or not. The driver autodetected my wireless card (IBM high rate wireless LAN with modem II) as an Intersil Prism 2.5 chipset, but it will not work. I wonder if the driver is corrupted, or if I should just use ndiswrapper with the windows drivers. Obviously, I would prefer to use native linux drivers, but the wrapper will not tax the system too much if I use that option. I have heard that these laptops are very linux friendly, and I ran xubuntu on it for quite some time with no big problems. My home router is a Belkin F6D4230-4 V3. This thing will not show up at all, but my family's old linksys will, I can't connect to it either.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've got a Puppy system running version 4.3.0 that I'm trying to get on the home network. I'm using a D-Link DWA-130 (H/W revision C), which has a Realtek RTL8192U chipset. I got the drivers off of D-Link's website, and they compiled and installed just fine, but when either a) I try to connect to the network, or b) while I'm browsing the web, the system locks up completely. No mouse, no keyboard, no Ctrl-Alt-Bksp to get out of X, nothing.
I'll outline my steps: Install Puppy using a "Full" HDD install (not "Frugal"). Copy the "devx_430.sfs" file (which I got from the Puppy website) from a thumb drive to the "my-documents" folder (although the exact location proabably doesn't matter). Mount it, cd to the mounted directory and execute "cp -a --remove-destination ./* /" and "sync". Copy the kernel source for 2.6.30.5 ("kernel_src-2.6.30.5-patched.sfs4.sfs") to the same directory. Mount it and execute the same commands as before. Copy the folder containing the RTL8192U drivers ("rtl8192u_linux_2.6.0006.1031.2008") to the root directory (i.e. "/"). cd to the folder in the terminal and run "make", "make install".Reboot the machine. Set up networking using the Puppy Internet Connection Wizard. HERE'S WHERE IT SCREWS UP: It connects, but after a while (e.g. just after logging into LQ through it, as a test) it freezes the entire system.
I have to do a hard reboot ("panic button"), then a soft reboot (for some odd reason the usb module won't load after a hard reboot, so the mouse won't work) to get the system working again, only to have it lock up again once it connects to the network.
Are these drivers broken? Outdated? Is there anything I can do to fix this? EDIT: I should add that this only occurs when the adapter is plugged in. If I boot the system with it unplugged, it works fine (probably because it never loads the kernel module).
I was trying to do a live boot of puppy on my new laptop.I installed puppy to a flashdrive via unetboot in. i did the normal BIOS screen but up but then it said as puppy was trying to boot up "pup-431.sfs not found"but when i booted up windows and i was able to find the file on my flashdrive.
