Programming :: Delete Trailing Slashes Using Bash On-board Means?
Dec 8, 2010I prefer to delete trailing slahes from pathes. Until now I used sed:

$ echo "$myPath" | sed 's//*$//'
/home/ladygaga I played around to accomplish the same with on-board means of bash without using sed, but for example this line only deletes one trailing slash:

$ echo ${myPath%/*}
/home/ladygaga// Is there a way to delete trailing slahes with just on-board means of bash?
General :: Fedora Icon Not Visible In Posts?
Jul 2, 2011i've read enough posts on this issue but i'm actually not getting how to configure user agent so that my distro icon can be shown instead of penguins' head.. i usually catch a thing so quickly and i've no doubt about my technical skills but this is the first time i'm unable to figure out such a small issue... i'm using fedora15 and firefox5.0..

Apr 1, 2010I recently moved my site to a new server (Apache 2, PHP5, MySQL5). The site is an Invision based forum. Every few posts / topics it just hangs. The data has been written because if you stop and reload, the post / thread is there. I thought it was a write issue initially, but nope. So, the data is written but the page load never completes. It doesn't leave the page where the data has been input.
Whats the best way to trouble shoot this issue? The only thing I have done recently is reduce my MySQL timeouts, but I can't see that being an issue as the values are still big enough and there are no mentions of timeouts in the MySQL log. (For the record there is nothing in PHP's error log either)
I have checked my server-status. It all looked ok, but I have a suspicion I was hitting my ServerLimit, so I doubled that. Also enabled my Keepalives. Will keep an eye on it.
Some additional info;
1. Apache is throwing seg faults, but enabling core dumps does not produce them.
2. I have tried disabling the modules in apache but it just stops things from working.
3. I fear it may actually be DNS related. If I watch Live Headers in Firefox, absolutely nothing happens during this 'hanging' period. After that, the responses come back fairly promptly.

May 13, 2010i installed linux OS on my lpc3131 board with kernel 2.6.20. I want to install gcc to my board in order to compile codes without cross compiler or auxilary PCs. But i think it must be different then installing gcc rpm on Fedora PC or untar and make gcc, I dont know what i must do. what release or version of gcc should i download and what kind of changes must i do in Makefile.

Sep 14, 2010I installed new version of Choqok 1.0 Beta3 (0.9.90). It works nice, but the notifications for new posts bothers me. With every timeline refresh, system tray notification window pops up informing me for new posts.
How to disable notifications for Choqok? I cannot find option in Choqok. However, I can disable application notifications in system tray options, but in this case some ugly little window pops on the top of the screen informing me for new posts.
General :: Can't Use On-board Broadband Modem On HP6730b Laptop With Ubuntu 10.04 LTS?
Aug 23, 2010I've been trying to use the onboard modem on my laptop for Internet connectivity. From what I can gather, Ubuntu hasn't installed a driver for the modem.
When I connect my phone using a usb cable to the laptop, I'm able to connect and browse. However, the network manager doesn't seem to have a driver for the onboard modem because it doesn't recognize it.
General :: Windows 7 - HP Laptop, Corrupted Graphics, Not Booting Win System Board?
Aug 3, 2010My friend has a HP Pavilion dv2699ea (dv2500 series - somehow *shrugs*) that has stopped working. It's a Core2Duo laptop with a Nvidia GPU. The unit is no longer under warranty. Problems first started a few days ago with the laptop showing corrupted graphics in Windows and BSOD'ing after a few minutes of use. I tried booting to an Ubuntu LiveCD which worked for a while before succuming and crashing as well. The freezing/graphics corruption/BSODing does seem somewhat heat related (CPU runs at ~95'c under load) however I believe that if it is heat related, then it's already damaged components inside.
Now the system has corrupted graphics on bootup[1], including booting Ubuntu[2], and neither operating systems will boot at all (Windows can sometimes get logged in before showing a black screen and becoming unresponsive. Ubuntu just looks like [3] after X starts). (See comment below for links.)
The fact the problem occurs both under Linux and Windows says to me this is not a driver issue. I have run Memtest which passed fine and none of this seems HDD related as I managed to get ~30GB of data off the system before it finally gave up the ghost.
She has been using it repeatedly without giving it adequate ventilation for years (i.e. on the bed, or on a pillow), so it's my opinion that the system board has probably warped over years of cooling/heating and that's causing this current problem. If that is the case, then I can buy a replacement system board and fit it myself, saving about £200 over the cost of an out-of-warranty HP repair. Of course, I don't want to make her spend £100 on a replacement part for it to be the wrong thing, hence asking for a second opinion here!
Hopefully I've covered all the bases here. I'm a former IT support guy myself, so I've tried all the dumb stuff (driver updates, examining memory dumps from BSODs [one 'unrecoverable hardware error', three relating to the graphics card], etc).

I run the command as root on the local system.

Aug 4, 2010is there a reason why OpenSUSE won't come with SUN Java prepakaged? Preinstalled Java seems to be ice something, which doesn't work with most of the Java software. Is there an easy way to replace it with real Java and have all the settings ready made. With this I refer to environment.

I will get proper response with the packets details. When I am trying the same thing in minicom terminal I am not getting anything even the proper error messages. If I use the same ping command in different way
>> ping 209.85.231.10(ip of google.com)
I am getting proper response. I don't know why the DNS name is not resolving in the board. Is there any documentation is available to do the internet connectivity with this board?
