General :: Configure Tomcat On Port 8443?
Apr 27, 2010
I am trying to configure tomcat on port 8443 using the following document [URL] instead of changing the port to 433 i kept it as 8443.i set the ip tables as follows
/sbin/iptables -A INPUT -i eth0 -p tcp --destination-port 8443 -j ACCEPT
/sbin/iptables -A INPUT -i eth0 -s 10.200.2.0/24 -p tcp --destination-port 8443 -j ACCEPT
service iptables save
restarted the tomcat service tomcat works on http://10.200.2.191:8080/ but it doesn't on https://10.200.2.191:8443 i did a little investigation of my own using nmap and found that the port 8443 is not open instead of making changes in the firewall table

After trying to upgrade to PHP53u on Centos 5.6 using the instruction here: [url], I've run into trouble.
I have 3 issues that I have identified so far:
1) After the upgrade I go this message:
2) This message when trying to access the site: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
3) Cannot access my Parallels panel on port 8443.

I'm trying to limit access to port 8443 on our server to 2 specific IP addresses. For some reason, access is still being allowed even though I drop all packets that aren't from the named IP addresses. The default policy is ACCEPT on the INPUT chain and this is how we want to keep it for various reasons I wont get into here. Here's the output from iptables -vnL
[Code]...
Note the actual IP we are using is masked here with 123.123.123.123. Until I can get everything working properly, we're only allowing access from 1 IP instead of 2. We can add the other one once it all works right. I haven't worked with iptables very much. So I'm quite confused about why packets matching the DROP criteria are still being allowed.

I have multiple jvm instance of tomcat application on a unix server and its running on different port.i would like to redirect the port and uri.How can i achieve this with the help of apache. i heard we can do it using mod_proxy.
[URL]
Currently when i access http://myapp.xx.com/offer i get 404 error.
one way to achieve this is to rename my exploded app name (offers-service-main) to offer. But i dont want to do that.anyway to achieve it.
This what i have done from my side.
1) installed apache 2.2 with mod_proxy
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/apache2.0
--enable-proxy
--enable-proxy-connect
--enable-proxy-http
2) Added the below config in apache
ProxyRequests Off
ProxyPreserveHost On
ProxyPass /offer http://myapp.xx.com:18120/offers-service-main
ProxyPassReverse /offer http://myapp.xx.com:18120/offers-service-main
But the above configuration dosent seems to be work. Let me know if i need to do anything on the tomcat side.

I am having trouble getting my FC10 with tomcat visible to the outside world. first off i am somewhat new to linux. I am running vmware workstation to host my linux web server. i have my VMWare setup to use my second NIC solely. it is bridged and the tcp/ip is disable from the host. i can ping the ip address but cant access tomcat on port 8080 from the outside. i can hit it fine from inside fedora. i have configured my router (wrt54gs with DD-WRT firmware) for port forwarding. so basically i think that the problem is somewhere in between the host and the vmware configuring allowing the port to be forwarded through.

My first time installing centos server and adding it to xp home network. I am new to setting up my own network in general. I have a home windows wired ethernet xp network (simple linxs router) with 2 xp boxes and one centos5 box all connected to the same router. I just set up the centos box running tomcat on port 8080. I need to do two very basic things at this point, but am not sure what I need to do:
What do I need to do so I can:
1. Connect in firefox on one of my xp boxes and call the tomcat server running on my centos box?
2. Be able to ftp to centos box from either of my xp boxes?

Can any one tell me how to configure Tomcat ldap URL authentication perfectly?
I've tomcat installed with port forwarding to http(80).
I could able to confiure apache ldap authentication. For this i modified the file '/etc/apache2/sites-enabled/000-defaults' with the DocumentRoot /var/www.
But for tomcat '/usr/share/tomcat/webapps' I could not able to configure 'server.xml' file perfectly.

I am trying to make my home server accessible to the whole web. I have installed Nginx on my Fedora 15 64-bit Linux machine, and it works with localhost but it doesn't work online or allow other computers on the network to access it via the IP address. It keeps coming back with: Could not connect
I have port forwarding. I have even tried different ports but they all seem to be blocked. What could be wrong? I have a netgear router.

Did a fresh install of Ubuntu Desktop 10.10 64-bit on my Dell D630.
I installed the Samba and used GADMIN-Samba to configure. The networking area is as follows:
But I'm am unable to attach to the SMB share. When I do a port scan on the PC network address it shows the port for SSH open along with the random high number ports for web connections but not the port for SMB (445). If I port scan 127.0.0.1 it shows SSH, netbios-ssn, and SMB open.
I've tried adding a rule to UFW and disabling UFW but it makes no difference.
I'm able to connect to SMB shares off of my Windows Desktop, so I know my home router isn't filtering any internal traffic.

VERY new to linux, erm but I have an issue that needs solving!I recently moved to university, where their network blocks sftp port 22, this means that I cannot connect to my FTP server which is running a version of linux. Now I've got this ftp server connected to a seedbox and it was created using the following walk through..Code:I have written this guide for a friend, but I though it would be useful for others as well.
There are several guides floating around, but I found that most always cock up in some way. This one is tried and tested to work on Debian Etch (on an OVH rps, but should apply to most servers). If there is a new stable release of rtorrent/libtorrent then I will update this guide to show you how to update it (without reinstalling the whole server).
At the bottom there are also instructions to install ftp access & some network monitoring software.Basically, I would really like someone to be able to construct the commands on how to change the listen port for sftp connection on linux or add another port to the list that Linux would use so that I could put in through putty.

I am trying to set up an Apache frontend server followed by a Tomcat server. Tomcat needs to run as an https service. I will have two services, both accessible independently, if desired. This login module is a webapp, running inside Tomcat.
Question:
Do I configure the Tomcat on port 8443 (I want to run it as a non-root) and do nothing with Apache or do I run on the standard port 8080 and configure Apache?
If Tomcat, is it server.xml? (connector?)
If Apache, is it httpd.conf?

Every time I need to start or stop Tomcat, I am navigating to:
/Tomcat_Dir/bin
and once I am in the folder I enter:
./Startup.sh
And to stop the server, I navigate to the same directory and enter:
./Shutdown.sh
I was wondering if there was a way in Linux to alias the above described process, so that from any location in the filesystem, I can simply type in something like
StartTomcat or StopTomcat to perform the Startup and Shutdown of the web-server?
