Aug 3, 2010I have a Sony Vaio PCG-5A1N (built for Japan) which has a malfunctioning CD-ROM. The bios doesn't support USB external CD-Drives and it doesn't have any USB boot either.The only method, I am left to work with is the PXE boot. I have finally setup a PXEBOOT on another CentOS server and everything works fine all the way to choosing language etc....but after it grabs images/stage2.img this is what it gives me:

Ubuntu Installation :: Vista Multiple Boot - No Boot Filename Received - No Bootable Device
Jan 2, 2010i had a working multi-boot system, vista on sda1,2; swap sda3; ext=sda4; ubuntu sda5; fedora sda6; data sda7 - i mount the data partition when using all of the linux releases so i don't have to have multiple copies of music, docs, etc. everything has worked fine until yesterday. i tried to install fc12 on sda6, replacing fc11. it required me to format sda6 as ext4. i wasn't sure where i had grub installed, but have a backup of menu.lst in data (sda7), so figured i could let it install to mbr or wherever it wanted to by default. when the install completed and i reboot, i get a black screen and these messages: CLIENT MAC ADDR: 00 19 XX XX XX GUID: XXXXX PXE-E53:
No boot filename received
PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel Boot Agent.
No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key I tried reinstalling fc12, same exact errors. I then thought maybe the problem had something to do with ext4 partition mixed in with ext3's, so i installed mepis on the sda6, and let it write grub to mbr (i think, not really sure where it wrote it). anyway, i still get the identical black screen. no grub type menu or anything. the screen used to show "DHCP for a few seconds", but doesn't anymore after i disconnected the ethernet cable.........

After I put a virtual machine named VM01.Initially it worked properly, I tried everything and it worked.When rebooted, I had problems with the network.I have two network cards eth0 and eth1, but eth1 does not have any ip and I use only eth0.The error that appears is:

May 20, 2010Im having a hanging problem with a HP dl160g6. uname -a shows:

The server was working fine since November �09 until a month or 2 ago.Sometimes (almost daily now) the machine hangs and shows the front "health led" blinking red.The services do not respond,locally i can see the login screen but when attempt to logon it freezes (the same happens with ssh).2 weeks ago i open a case in HP and the support sugest that the problem is in the X server (??), since then the system starts in runlevel 3 but the problem continues. A week ago open another case, on Tuesday make a BIOS upgrade but today in the morning the server hangs again.
There�s no strange messages in log files but... after the Tuesday hungs (before the upgrade) i can see the error msg below (thanks to the change to console mode):

Sep 30, 2010I have one centOS 5.5 box recieving mails done by fetchmail service and it has a 5 client pc's, is there any way that the CentOS box able to deliver the mails to the 5 local network users that is using thunderbird as MUA.
the mails is stuck in /var/spool/mail as I verified in the webmin sendmail settings
Ubuntu :: Errors Received When Trying To Boot From USB
Dec 13, 2010I have a relatively new computer that won't boot Win 7. After going through a lot of tries, I got a suggestion that I try to boot using Ubuntu from a USB flash drive ( since I can't burn a CD).
I followed the procedure to put the necessary files (Version 10.04 64 bit if I recall correctly) on the drive and tried to boot using it.
I got this message:
When I tried to boot again (from the above) I just got the second message (No DEFAULT etc.)

Feb 10, 2010I set up environment according to BareMetalProvisioningBestPractices document, I think everything should be ok. Now trying to plug in new virtual machine for PXE install Linux. But something is wrong, DHCP waits couple of seconds, and then I receive:
PXE-E53: No boot filename received
PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel PXE ROM.
I think, all services required are started.

Sep 14, 2009this should be trivial for all you big sysadmin guys My box is a firewall/gateway. ETH0 is on the Internet-side, and is fully auto-configured (DHCP client) from my ISP. ETH1 is on the LAN-side, has DHCPD enabled, and I route the traffic to/from the Internet via iptables (NATting, of course). Everything works pretty good, except for the DNS-server assignment via DHCP: how can I configure dhcpd.conf to assign the SAME dns-server I receive from my provider on ETH0 to all my PC on ETH1?

Unfortunately even that is not there in CentOS.Only 1.2.10 is there for CentOS.

Mar 10, 2009i want to resolve the above error. I'm using systemimager to autoinstall system images on pc's connected in lan. while doing this i got the error No DHCPOFFERS received. Also at the time of booting my pc it shows the message No dhcp and/or proxyDHCP offers recieved. But i've started the dhcpd deamon on my pc. Also the systemimager rsync deamon is running. The two pc's are also connected in lan properly.
Still while autoinstalling the image on client it fails showing the error message... No DHCPOFFERS recieved. what do i do in order to make my autoinstall work properly? How do i come to know whether the dhcp server is running or not? What will be the exact problem in autoinstalling?

Jan 14, 2010What i want to be able to do is create a custom kickstart for my centOS 5 server. I want to create a bootable cd that I can pop in my server and basically walk away for 45 minutes and I come back and its fully installed. All the directions I have read so far tell me that I have to create a seperate ks.cfg and then I need my original centos cd to get it booted. Then the cd will ask for where the ks.cfg file is and I have to type the location. I just want to pop the CD in and type in linux_clean or something and have it perform a custom install based on the information and specification in my ks.cfg. How can I go about doing this?

May 23, 2011I am using Postfix on CentOS to send mail through a relayhost. The mail sends fine, but on certain clients such as the mail client on the iPhone or Windows Live Mail, the message is received with '(No Sender)' in the sender field. The Apple Mail client on the iMac works just fine.
Here is the PHP code I am using to send the mail code...
Wondering if there is a configuration setting in /etc/postfix/main.cf I can use to fix this problem. I have scoured the help files but have come up empty.

It shows message "Mathematica has received the signal: SIGSEGV and has exited" on terminal. But this not happing on older Linux version such as suse enterprise desktop 10. if i first create aaa.nb file using vi editor i can open it with Mathematica front end and save it. but cannot do "save as option" and also cannot open edit-> preferences menu.

Aug 6, 2011My LAN has 2 PCs installed, Ubuntu 10.04 and Windows XP. I run the server on Ubuntu, and client on Windows XP. Because I am doing stress test, so the client will keep sending tons of packets to server.
The strange thing is: After few seconds, the client program crash because of insufficient network buffer, the server is still ok. But after that I cant connect Ubuntu PC anymore until I restart it. And I check the router, the led for the Ubuntu PC is always ON (not blinking), look like it is jam already.
