Aug 18, 2010I was messing around in CCSM a while ago and i must have done something because when i maximize my windows i lose the toolbar with the close, minimize, maximize buttons.

Ubuntu :: Change The Colour Of The Window Toolbar?
Mar 14, 2010How can I change the boring grey of the Window tool bar in Ubuntu? I have tried "System>Preferences>Appearances", Compize, Emerald GNOME Colour Chooser and non of them allow me to change the tool bar colour. I have also done many extensive searches on forums, but I cannot find one topic on this adjustment. Lots about fonts, window boarders and so on. I can change everything else but the tool bar colour.

Feb 10, 2010I use Kubuntu 9.10. All packages are up-to-date. The problem: When opening a new window in firefox, the new window forgets the toolbar settings. So when I start firefox and the first window shows up, it shows my toolbar settings correctly, which is pretty minimalistic actually (no buttons, bookmark menu, google searchbar, etc.). But when I then open a new window from the original one, the new window has forgotten my toolbar settings and shows all the buttons, the searchbar, etc..
This happens irrespective from if I hit Ctrl+N, or print firefox after hitting Alt+F2 (which just opens a second window since the firefox process is already running). What can I do? I read in some other post that you should delete some settings file that might have gone corrupt, but I have done this and it did not help.

Hurrah.However, the default audio drive failed, and now it doesn't have an audio card selected. .. but this isn't my problem.I would love to go into Options to try and tinker with the settings, but I can't click on it. In fact, I can't click on anything in the window's toolbar (ie File, Edit, Options, Help, etc)The rest seems to work just fine.

Mar 30, 2011I have been working for the last three months with Ubuntu 10 on a destop. Doing just fine and loving it. I decided to try a new position for the toolbar that sits at the top of the screen. I did a right click and moved it to the right side of the scree, didn't like the look of that. Right click on the bar and moved it to the left, didn't like that either, so moved it to the bottom. having done all that I thought I could put it back at the top but alas, I can not right click on the Toolbar.
It seems as though the two bars are fighting each other at the bottom of the screen.I would like to go back to the default position at the top of the screen. I do have a terminal window available to me on the desktop so if I could find out the command line to type in, I should be able to reset my tool bar. Being new I have no idea what this command would be.
General :: Add Shutdown Under System Toolbar?
Apr 30, 2010I'm running Ubuntu 10.04, and I like to logout or shutdown or restart my system with system->shutdown just as in Fedora, but it's not there. How can I add this, the only way that I have been using is through the terminal or Crtl-Alt-D, which doesn't has Logout option but Hibernate.

General :: Mint - Open Windows Not Showing Up As Icons On Toolbar?
Nov 18, 2010The toolbar is completely empty and when I run apps or open windows, the icons do not show up. The weird thing is when I select 'Panel Properties' and UNSELECT 'expand', then it shows up. But then my toolbar shrinks and doesnt go 100% in width.

Jul 8, 2011I like to start Emacs as part of a login script and leave it running for the duration of my login session (which is typically weeks).
I have scripts to call emacs-client which will allow me to use a file-manager or Windows Explorer to locate files and right-click to edit them in Emacs.
I often end up with a lot of emacs windows (frames) open and I like to just be able to close them by clicking on the MS-Windows or KDE X button at the top-right.
The trouble is, if the window is the last one, this will shut down emacs which will lose all kinds of interesting history information.
As a work-around I use C-x 5 0 which won't let me close the last frame but this is often not as convenient as using the mouse
Does anyone know how to configure Emacs so that it can intercept the Window-Close button of the last frame to either request confirmation or simply disallow it?
On MS-Windows, disallowing closing of the last window may cause logoff to hang if emacs is still running but I'm not too worried about that.

Feb 3, 2011I'm a recent convert from Ubuntu (my company uses Juniper VPN and FedoraRHEL is the only certified OS for the client) and I'm having an issue that I can't seem to find the answer to.I installed Fedora 14 and have dual monitors running on a GeForce 8500 GT with one DVI and one VGA connection. VGA is the left monitor, DVI is on the right. After install, Fedora was defaulting to the DVI (right) monitor as the primary, so I used the Monitors utility to rearrange them so they went left to right. I even selected the left (VGA) monitor as the primary. I was hoping that the top and bottom bars would follow.My issue is that both the launch bar on the top, and the task bar on the bottom are still on the right-hand screen, and I can't for the life of me figure out how in the heck to get them both over to the left-hand screen. Am I missing something horribly obvious?

IF....I close Firefox and start it again the addon icons aren't on the tool bar or, like Ghostery, at the bottom of the screen...I think it's called the status bar.

Apr 10, 2010I have installed Open Office 3.2 on My SYSTEM. However, I think its look is some ugly, specialy its scrollbars, combo boxes to select fonst and size.
The previous version (3.1) looks much better. I think that version (3.1) is integrated with the system theme.
In the 3.2 version, the toolbar look is great... the problem starts in the font toolbar, continues with its scrollbars (seems ms w 95)
Is there any installation process to integrate OoO 3.2 perfectly with Fedora 12? (like OoO 3.2 and Ubuntu 9.10)

Nov 19, 2010I switched to fedora to learn. I also purchased several vps (virtual private servers) so I could hack away and not destroy my pc. well I would like to do the following...let me call one server A and the other server B
Put to terminals on my top panel. when I click on A I will automatically via ssh be taken to the server A online and when I click on B (the second xterm icon) I would like to be taken to vps B. Ideally I would also like to bypass my password and just go in a root to both as again these are just things I got to learn on.. I don't know where to start but it sure seems like something that would be possible. Of course I don't care if I am clicking on the terminal icon or a program that just launches the appropriate terminal..

Feb 7, 2010I had been using Amarok 1.4 with no problems, but somehow in trying to fix the 'Launching HTTP Cache' bug, I made the Amarok toolbar icons disappear and be replaced with an image of a page. The only thing I did was install qt3-qtconfig and systemsettings, then removed them because they were not able to help me fix the HTTP cache bug, and they also altered my pointer to KDE-style. After removal and a system restart, Amarok looks like the screenshot I took. how to get the icons back?
