General :: Why SMDK6410 LCD Screen Not Displaying Anything
Nov 15, 2010
I compiled the buildroot for zImage and rootfs.jffs2 for SMDK6410. Used the linux kernel 2.6.35 and busybox 1.17. And deployed these two images using DNW. The kernel and rootfs loaded successfully and able to do execute linux commands from DNW but not from LCD screen. I am new to the linux development and want to see a sample framebuffer / desktop application on the screen.
I was compiling an application called Audacious. One of the dependent packages I needed to obtain was called Glib. After installing Glib (and a package it also required), my GNOME began failing and after rebooting the computer, the login GNOME login screen fails to displaying. Does anyone know what's gone wrong?

Now after installing Glib, restart your computer and your GNOME will have failed. Why the F did this happen?
I'm trying to install F11 on my old FSC Amilo Pro laptop. The installer starts fine, shows up on the screen fine, but the graphic installation window is wrongly positioned on the screen. It's about 300px too far to the right and about 300px too low on the screen, so that my Next, Back, Cancel buttons etc are off the screen.
I have installed Ubuntu 11.04 along side windows 7 ultimate. But the problem is as soon as I switch on my computer. There is only a blank screen with my TFT screen displaying a msg "Out of Range"
Then suddenly Ubuntu loads without showing any option to load windows 7.
I am new to linux go easy please. I have about 200 machines with opensuse11.4 KDE on them, I would like certain information to stick to the background kinda like a widget type of thing that cannot be removed by a user (no admin rights) and it has to start on machine boot up and also these pcs are continually moving to different spots in our building but on the same network so idk if that changes anything with configuring the ip address.... the only things that need to be visible are as follows:
Host name User name IP address domain
So basically widgets are useless to me, unless somebody knows how to configure these the way I need them or maybe there is something better then widgets. I came here to get the right answer from all you geniuses out there instead of trying to hop around on google and whatnot. Let me know what my options are and how I can roll this out on 200 PC efficiently.
I have a little brother who is handicapped and uses the machine he was sat by the computer with a blank screen at which point my dad soft rebooted the machine (he will sit at the machine if its not working but he cant tell us its not working). I don't know if the below caused the machine to stop displaying?
New to ubuntu, as of about 3 days ago. Using ubuntu 9.10 on a Dell Dimension 3100. I installed ubuntu as a program on windows 7. I am only given the option for 800X600 and wanting to switch to 1024X768. My graph card is MESA DRI Intel 915G GEM 20090712 2009Q2 RC3/x86/MMX/SSE2 v1.4 Mesa 7.6. Other info: The X.ORG Foundation v1.6.4. How can I get the desired screen resolution?
Code: Fedora 12 2.6.32.9-70.fc12.i686 GEFORCE GO 7400
When my notebook boots I get a high screen resolution. However, when I login it seems to go to a lower resolution that is not clear. I think this all started when I updated to a new kernel. So I reinstalled the nvida drivers using leigh's guide. However, I still can't seem to get it to display correctly.

For the past month or so I have been having some issues with screen crashing and displaying funky colors. Basically it happens at completely random times, doing completely random things. The screen goes to a pink color then freezes the the only way I can gain control again is if I restart the machine or restart gdm via ssh. This is really puzzling me. Perhaps there are some logs I can look at? A little bit about my system:

I my trying to install Ubuntu onto a new 1 TByte Sata HDD on my Dell 8400. The computer has no other OS installed as the old HDD containing Windows XP has being removed. The new hdd has being fully formatted and is set up as a NTFS with a single partition of 1 TByte. I downloaded the latest version of UBuntu and burned it to a cd as a ISO file. When I boot my computer up from this cd I am asked to enter my language of choice and then I get the main menu screen. On this screen I choose option (2) - Install Ubuntu. After a few minutes during which time you can hear the cd being accessed the screen just displays this main menu and never changes. I have tried twice using this install option but after 45-50 minutes the screen still never changes. No progress information is given. If it is normal how long does the installation generally take?
Since I have upgraded to Lucid (and thus to Mozilla 3.6.6), I am experiencing a bunch of annoyances with Mozilla.
1) logging into my GoDaddy account keeps displaying the login screen and not my accounts page (yes, I checked the password) 2) creating an account in bugzilla resulted in an "Invalid OpenID transaction" error message instead of a confirmation page 3) the [URL] page popped up a parser error instead of the website.
Midori and Mozilla 3.0.8 work just fine. Does anybody else have problems with mozilla 3.6.6 and above?

I am working on ns2 for my new project. I have successfully installed ns2 on fedora 8 but whenever I try to run in wireless example it does not display the scenario in nam window. It works with wired but not with wireless. It also create nam trace file but does not show anything. I also tried to run Marc Greis tutorial wireless ex but same problem continue.
My Ubuntu system is occasionally becoming very sluggish. I'm running many things simultaneously and it's very difficult to tell which program is the culprit.
I suspect that the sluggishness is due to disk activity since the CPU usage is consistently under 50% on each of the 4 cores of the CPU, and over 30% of the 6GB of RAM are free.
Is there a tool that can show me in real time the number of disk IO operations per second and the amount of data read/written per second? Can all this info be broken down and displayed per process?
I have a server laptop sitting around at home which is a pretty bland server, on which I generally leave the lid open and there is a login prompt always displayed.
However, I'd love to be able to display useful information on /dev/tty1 so whilst the server is just sitting there, rather than displaying a login prompt on the monitor, it could now display, for example, the current time and weather forecast for the day. Or something along those lines.
After booting my PC which is running CentOS, it did not display the desktop. It just displayed a terminal window and a firefox browser all on a black screen!
i have installed fedora14 on my system, while running the php programs errors are not displaying on the browser. display the error while running on the browser at localhost.
I have been trying to configure webalizer on a centOS 5.5 system. I did the yum install and I found this helpful link...However when I try to change the dir it puts the info into, it keeps giveing me an error cannot cd to the directory. I changed the /etc/webalizer.conf file as described in the above article and try to run it manually same results. /etc/cron.daily/00webalizer Error: Can't change directory to /home/webalizer/When I put the original dir back in the path it writes to /var/www not /var/www/output like it should. I even tried a local /var/wwww/output dir. Then I tried a link to /home/webalizer/output (a dir I created) and same results.(with orginal .cfg in place)I go to my www page remote or on the local network I get page not found errors. In summary.1. Why wont the /etc/webalizer.cf file allow me to change the location of the files?2. How do I display the www page to view the data?3. How can I secure the www page so only I can view the data.
I'm running Linux Fedora 12 here and I launched a script to create a profile and it launched successfully...
Now the problem is, after the creation of the profile its suppose to launch "first step" but now this windows appears blank and when i move the cursor around it picking the links..
I have installed both Fedora and Ubuntu with Gnome Desktops and it displays the information an inch to the left, this problem may have to do with the fact that the display comes up as unknown.
Sometimes when I try to display the mounted device in linux it displays devices which are not currently mounted. I want to correct this this using script.
I'm trying to setup an alias, that when I change to another directory, any directory, it will also display all its contents like ls -al:Well, that doesn't work. I guess it's an issue with the use of wild-cards.Maybe I should define a new, so far unused, name for the alias like cdl for example.Would be great if someone could help me. I search in several examples for bash aliases but couldn't find the right solution.
Code: $ aptitude s sbin/ selinux/ server/ srv/ sys/ This is what happens when I hit TAB. It always showed "show" and "search" actions before... Why directories now?
