I am working on ns2 for my new project. I have successfully installed ns2 on fedora 8 but whenever I try to run in wireless example it does not display the scenario in nam window. It works with wired but not with wireless. It also create nam trace file but does not show anything. I also tried to run Marc Greis tutorial wireless ex but same problem continue.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running Fedora 12 and have installed GWC(Gnome Wave Cleaner) from a tar.gz file. That was not without it's problems but lots of reading here and elsewhere taught me how to fix the makefile.in so that it would install properly. I even figured out how to make it add a gwc.desktop file to automatically add it to the applications menu. The app runs and works great but the icon in the upper left corner of the window is some generic icon for the Window Menu not the GWC icon. How do I fix this? I also added a file gwc.keys to /usr/share/mime-info in the hope that doing a right click on a .wav file would show GWC as an option in the 'Open With' list. This is also not working.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have Firefox 3.6 installed on slackware64-current and everything works correctly.However when I use Firefox 3.6 on slackware-current (32bit) and I do Edit -> Preferences, the window is opened but the content does not display. If I click the close button, Firefox terminates, but I can no longer get the focus onto another window and I have to restart X with Ctrl-Alt-backspace.(The same thing happens when I try to logout of LQ!). I have tried reinstalling Firefox 3.6 and jre to no avail. I have tried removing my ~/.mozilla/firefox to build a new profile. The same problem also occurs as root. I have reverted to Firefox 3.5.7 and all is OK.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI am running Cent0S 5.2 and am trying to get the gui running from startx at the console. When it loads half the screen is scrambled and I can see parts of the desk top. it looks like a video driver issue. I ran system-config-display --reconfig --set-depth=16 --set-resolution=1024x768 and then tried system-config-display --reconfig --set-depth=16 --set-resolution=800x600. It came out a little better but still half scrambled.
View 5 Replies View RelatedEverywhere but the actual webpage is transparent in the firefox window. I can't really see the main toolbar with file, edit, tools, etc. It crashes when I try to click add-ons in the tools drop down menu. It also makes my computer run slower and freeze up. Thinking it could be a bug from a recent update not sure because I think it started after tabking or another add-on was updating. I'm using firefox through wine right now. Using Ubuntu 9.10.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI like to start Emacs as part of a login script and leave it running for the duration of my login session (which is typically weeks).
I have scripts to call emacs-client which will allow me to use a file-manager or Windows Explorer to locate files and right-click to edit them in Emacs.
I often end up with a lot of emacs windows (frames) open and I like to just be able to close them by clicking on the MS-Windows or KDE X button at the top-right.
The trouble is, if the window is the last one, this will shut down emacs which will lose all kinds of interesting history information.
As a work-around I use C-x 5 0 which won't let me close the last frame but this is often not as convenient as using the mouse
Does anyone know how to configure Emacs so that it can intercept the Window-Close button of the last frame to either request confirmation or simply disallow it?
On MS-Windows, disallowing closing of the last window may cause logoff to hang if emacs is still running but I'm not too worried about that.

My Ubuntu system is occasionally becoming very sluggish. I'm running many things simultaneously and it's very difficult to tell which program is the culprit.
I suspect that the sluggishness is due to disk activity since the CPU usage is consistently under 50% on each of the 4 cores of the CPU, and over 30% of the 6GB of RAM are free.
Is there a tool that can show me in real time the number of disk IO operations per second and the amount of data read/written per second? Can all this info be broken down and displayed per process?
I have a server laptop sitting around at home which is a pretty bland server, on which I generally leave the lid open and there is a login prompt always displayed.
However, I'd love to be able to display useful information on /dev/tty1 so whilst the server is just sitting there, rather than displaying a login prompt on the monitor, it could now display, for example, the current time and weather forecast for the day. Or something along those lines.
I compiled the buildroot for zImage and rootfs.jffs2 for SMDK6410. Used the linux kernel 2.6.35 and busybox 1.17. And deployed these two images using DNW. The kernel and rootfs loaded successfully and able to do execute linux commands from DNW but not from LCD screen. I am new to the linux development and want to see a sample framebuffer / desktop application on the screen.

I did the yum install and I found this helpful link...However when I try to change the dir it puts the info into, it keeps giveing me an error cannot cd to the directory. I changed the /etc/webalizer.conf file as described in the above article and try to run it manually same results. /etc/cron.daily/00webalizer Error: Can't change directory to /home/webalizer/When I put the original dir back in the path it writes to /var/www not /var/www/output like it should. I even tried a local /var/wwww/output dir. Then I tried a link to /home/webalizer/output (a dir I created) and same results.(with orginal .cfg in place)I go to my www page remote or on the local network I get page not found errors.In summary.1. After installing Glib (and a package it also required), my GNOME began failing and after rebooting the computer, the login GNOME login screen fails to displaying. Does anyone know what's gone wrong?

I have set the hwclock to localtime, configured "HARDWARECLOCK" to "localtime" in rc.conf, and chosen two different (but accurate) values for TIMEZONE in rc.conf:

[spice@sandbox ~]$ cat /etc/rc.conf | grep TIMEZONE

I have two operating systems installed in my computer. one is Windows XP( sp2 ) and another is Ubuntu Linux 10.04Lts. I reinstalled Windows XP. After rebooting, the grub menu is not displaying, only windows is booting, there is no sign of Ubuntu. Is there any way to restore the Ubuntu or I have to freshly install Ubuntu again ?
View 3 Replies View RelatedBefore I begin I would like to say that while I am not a Linix newbie, I am not a guru or even a regular user so don't assume I have anything more than general Linux knowledge. I am carrying out research involving virtualization and Single Sign On technologies and I need to display a Xen based virtual machine to the desktop before the user is logged in. This is for a demonstration system and I am trying to find a solution that involves the least amount of system modification possible.I found a PAM module that allows for the invocation of arbitrary shell scripts which would allow me to start and display the virtual machine in question, but when trying to run the virt viewer (or any process with graphical output) I am informed that the display cannot be found. Explicitly setting the DISPLAY env to :0 before running the command has no effect.
This is where my Linux knowledge runs out. I know that there has to be some way to connect to the X session being used by the greeter, I just don't know what that method involves. The shell script is running with root privileges, so it can access whatever "X credentials" are stored locally.
I will be thankful for any assistance this forum might be able to provide, but please do not suggest alternatives to displaying a VM for my SSO needs, and please avoid any solution that involves having to write my own custom greeter. If there is absolutely no way to accomplish what I am trying to do without greeter modifications definitely tell me, but I am a security researcher, not a Linux developer so I am looking for the easiest solution to implement, even if that solution is a gross hack.

I have three boxes with lenny debian recently installed. I'd like to be able to display X apps running on host1 and displaying on host2. "xhost +" would do the trick for me if I could get it to work but as far as I can tell it does nothing. (BTW, I'm aware of the security risks. This is not a concern for me. I'm safely behind a good firewall. I'm also aware of "ssh -X" but that won't quite solve my problem. See the long version below.) I suspect that Debian secures the xhost command out of the box in some way but I can't seem to figure out what it is. If that is true and someone can show me how to reset it, or direct me to appropriate documentation I think that would solve my problem.
Here's the long version:
What I really want to do is play xbattle with my kids but I need to be able to display the board to three different screens. In xbattle the command line is: % xbattle -red me -blue host1:0 -green host2:0 {and more stuff of no consequence to my question}
This opens a game board for player red locally, player blue on host1 and player green on host2. Or at least it should. If there is a way to make this work with "ssh -X" (or anything else for that matter) I'll be happy to use that instead, but so far as I can tell "ssh -X" only lets me redirect the display back to the one I ssh'd from whereas I need to direct to multiple displays to run xbattle.
