<?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?>
<tomcat-users>
<role rolename="tomcat"/>
<role rolename="role1"/>

but no matter what I use as username/password, I am unable to get in.
I want to login to my company's server (remote) from my room. I have the server address, so I use this command to login :
Code:
#ssh root@X.X.X.X
It waits for a very long time and then returns with error connection timed out port 22.
I configured these settings in the remote server :
Code:
#/etc/init.d/iptables stop
Then I connect via ssh from my home but still the same error.
Then in the config file /etc/ssh/sshd_config, I uncomment the line : ListenAddress 0.0.0.0
I connect via ssh again from home but still the same error.
The connection is not denied in hosts.deny and hosts.allow.
How do I get the connection up and running?
I been trying to set up a DHCP3-server on my brand new learning Ubuntu 11.04 server. I can connect when i put the IP infomation in manually, so I know everything else is working, just got to fix the DHCP problem before I put the machine into production on my home LAN. Can someone tell me if these config files located at /etc/dhcp3/dhcpd.conf and another at /etc/default/dhcp3-server are correct? eth1 is the NIC that will be the LAN side of the network, I double checked that...
Code:

Everytime I log into the linux server at my workplace (I use putty), I don't get the bash prompt right away. I need to execute the command 'bash' to get it. Anyway to make this automatic? e.g.
Code:
host:1>
host:1> bash
user@host:~$
Is there somewhere in WHM where I can allow and disallow various ip addresses to login using PuTTY for SSH.OpenSSH Server, is not running (for security reasons).If OpenSSH is not running, is there a way to allow certain ip addresses only to use ssh.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am having problems logging into my SME Linux server from a new Windows 7 machine. It sees the server on the network, but does not seem to be passing the windows login through to the Linux server (which is how all of the XP machines log in). When I try to log in using a valid username and password it goes nowhere and just says it is an invalid username and/or password. I had a Vista machine that could log into this Linux server so I do not think the Samba version is the problem.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've got a Shorewall (Shoreline?) firewall up and running, but it's logging to /var/log/messages. I'd much rather have it logging to another location e.g. /var/log/firewall but can't find (a clear enough) explanation on how to do this. Apparently, it varies greatly depending on the distro, the kernel, and the version of Shorewall that is running. You'd think it would be something as simple as setting a path in a config file, but apparently not. I'm running a stock Lenny kernel on the firewall machine. It comes with version 4.0.15 of Shorewall.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been tempted to try the eeebuntu over my Asus eeePC 1005AH and I've been surprised how simple and smooth the installation went, every component and device has been recognized correctly, from the devise manager is possible to turn on and of the WiFi, Bluetooth, webcam, the 6-cell battery provide me the regular 6+ hours, etc. However I can't get in internet. Managing the network connections from the Control Center I have added manually the SSID and security parameters, or I beleive so becasue differently from windows there is no utility that scan the available wifi networks around.

I am looking to be able to encrypt using OpenPGP certain outgoing emails on my linux server. Currently I have GPG setup with a public key, however encryption outgoing emails prooved to be harded.After a bit of research I have found GNU Anubis which acts as a middlemad between the MUA and the MTA, by encrypting emails before they reach my MTA (Sendmail)However I am having a bit of problem with the configuration of bind and remote-mta, as specified by anubis.I have the sendmail service running on port 25 and I want to leave it there, but I have configured my php.ini SMTP port to 24. So it runs through port 24 first and anubis then forwards the emails via remote-mta to port 25Here are my anubis configs:
bind localhost:24
local-mta /path/to/my/sendmail
remote-mta localhost:25
With all those set, I can't seem to get the basic modication of emails to work. (trying to change a certain subject to something else, just to see that anubis is working). However emails are still working with port 24 as the SMTP port.
if there is available SLES clone out there. Like Red Hat Enterprise Linux = CentOS?

View 14 Replies View RelatedI am a Linux newbie and did one successful install Ubuntu 9.1 32 bit on my old desktop. Encouraged by that success (and the ease of it), this week I built my own system, which will be my primary system. I am trying to install Ubuntu 9.1 (AMD 64 version) and after the partition selection screen (I chose to partition the entire disk), I immediately get a white blank screen. Then nothing happens. I also tried with Ubuntu 9.1 32 bit, XUbuntu 9.1 64, Ubuntu 9.04 all had the same results.
Not sure if the hardware specs are required, but here they are:
1) Motherboard: MSI KA 780 G
2) Processor: AMD Athlon II X4 630
3) Memory: Corsair 2 x 2 GB, 800 MHz twinx 6400 c6
4) Harddrive: Hitachi sata 300, 1 TB
In desperation, I have started windows XP installation and that seems to progress fine at its leisurely pace. Its formatting the drive right now. During one of the attempts, it did install something*, since after that I see a new ubuntu partition after that. But when I boot from hard disk I get a black screen with cursor. I tried to search thru the forums and nobody seemed to have this exact problem, one guy got a white screen with cursor after a graphics card install, which is not the same. I dont want to go back to windows.
I want to enable the communication b/n ibm tsm server and ESX server . for that reason i want instal /etc/init.d/vsftpd in my sys. But iam unable to find the link which can provide me this software [/COLOR].
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am in the process of running a set of performance tests for the latest Sun JVM 1.6.0_20. I am using for that the dacapo test suite: [URL]
I ran the test suite very often with all sorts of settings, but recently it happened once that my Ubuntu system froze. I could still ping the machine, but nothing else was responding any more, no screen output, no ssh login, not possible to switch consoles. After rebooting the system the system logs were quiet. No single trace of any problem.
I am using a custom compiled kernel 2.6.34: Linux i7 2.6.34-custom-201005231602 #1 SMP PREEMPT Sun May 23 16:06:01 CEST 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux and I am experimenting around with the -XX:+UseLargePages JVM switch the requires to set-up the hugetlbfs on the Linux system: [URL]
A similar issue happened in March 2010 on one of our CentOS 5.4 systems where we run a heavy load Java application on, where we had to hard power off the machine and after the reboot there was no trace of the problem in the logs. On that server we used JDK 1.6.0_17 and did not use hugetlbfs.
My first question would be what to do so that next time something like that happens I have more information available after the incident to debug and analyse the problem?
I can ssh to the server but it wont allow me edit files, even though I have basic text editors like gedit and notepad installed on my windows computer. Anyone have an idea what the problem is? (I get an error message like this-(gedit:23978): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display

View 2 Replies View Relatedwe need to log web access of a certain set of users for analysis. We decided to setup a proxy server which just logs all the requests but does not do anything else like caching/access control etc.All users will be using a fixed set of computers and hence we can redirect their requests to the proxy. I came across Squid, but found it to be too heavy for our requirements. Is there any other proxy-server software that is good enough for what we want or is Squid the only way?
