It prompts for language selection(By default English) and then key board type ( By default US type). After this it is prompting to select the drivers with the following options.
" SELECT DRIVERS", "CHOOSE DRIVERS FROM LOCATION", "BACK". Why it is prompting for drivers?. what type of drivers it is looking for? what is the solution? My system mother board type is Intel 80865.
I have redhat ES 5.5 64bit edition and I'm trying to install samba using the DVD I installed the software with - however this is failing the dependency checks, am I installing the wrong software or something?

I recently built a basic server computer for home use. (this will be for media, documents, music, etc) I have a basic amd mobo, cpu, and dvd drive. I have Ubuntu server 9.10 installed on an 8GB SD card that is attached to a usb dongle. The os loaded just fine And as a storage drive i have a seagate 1TB hard drive.
Then i got to creating shares in samba. I got to editing the smb.conf file and i couldn't figure out how to setup the shares (where exactly the 1tb Hard drive is, how to create directories and what not) Then i realized i needed to format the HDD! but when i go to run fdisk to finally do it, it tells me that it is "unable to open /dev/sda/"
Now i don't know a whole lot about linux as you can tell, but that is the whole reason i set this thing up is for a big learning experience in both linux and network setup.
To sum up, how do i format the 1TB HDD, and how would i set up samba so i could administrate it from my other computer (SWAT is what i've read about)
If I choose Ubuntu develop php app, which edition should I get, Ubuntu Server Edition or Ubuntu Desktop Edition?

What I would like to do is restore the image to VMWare machine for personal purpose (I cannot perform tests on production machine). But after restoring on VMWare I got "Kernel Panic". That's normal due to different hardware.
Now, is there a way to remove the Kernel Panic and correctly boot the machine? I ask our tech department for the RedHat CD1 to enter the "linux rescue" enviromnent, then try to re-read the hardware list with

I installed Red-hat 5.3. Problem is that it is not showing graphical interface. Only kernel / command prompt is available. I tried startx, then I got this msg. No video BIOS modes for chosen depth. Also showing that:

I don't have an an external dvd drive. I don't have a scusi dvd drive I don't have a pci card for ide or sata connections I have fedora core 14 installed on it (although so far have failed to get the internet to work on the server - but that is a separate issue and probably not worth fixing if I am going to change OS)I have downloaded the dvd, copied the iso to fedora - using a USB pen Mounted the dvd within fedora - but it seems it needs to run on boot I've tried installing the dvd onto a pen drive (ie bootable) - which works on my pc - but the server doesn't seem to like the idea of booting from USB.
I can get Redhat 6 enterprise server on cd. But it there is a simple work around I'd be greatful too.
I am regretably a complete rooky so please make any instructions very simple.
I know you are thinking why is a complete rooky trying to install a redhat server - the only answer to that is - why not - gotta learn sometime.
