View 5 RepliesI have installed Ubuntu three times now, and I'm running into same problem all the time, both with Karmic Koala (9.10) and now also Lucid Lynx (10.04):
When I configure Evolution for IMAP access to my GMAIL account, it never prompts me for a password. Instead, I guess Evolution tries to connect without any password and fails every time. Switching to Thunderbird didn't do the trick either, so I think it might have something to do with the Keyring daemon. My Internet connection is fine, as I can access my account under other operating systems.
Things I've tried so far:
"Forget passwords" in the evolution menu
Forcing shutdown of evolution and deleting the ~/.evolution folder (as suggested by https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=221112)
Accessing the keyring and deleting the default keyring
[code]....
I found much of the info is out of date. I installed Lucid - my /home was on a separate partition so I did not format it to keep the original settings and mail. When trying to send/receive mail, Evolution now asks for the old login password from the previous install to open the mail keyring. "The password you use to login no longer matches that of your login keyring" There is a box to enter the old PW.
SOLUTION:
-Go to Applications-Accessories-Passwords and Encryption Keys
-Right click on Passwords:login
-Select Change Password
-Type your old login password in the "Old Password" field
-Type your new password in both the Password: and Confirm: fields.
-Click OK
-REBOOT
Evolution will now use your new login password to access the keyring.
I want to store my svn password in the gnome-keyring so it is encrypted and 'secure'. I made the necessary changes to ~/.subversion/config, but even after running a few svn commands, I do not see an entry for SVN in the keyring.
What else do I need to do to get SVN using gnome-keyring? I will also be using this with git-svn.
I am running Debian testing with XFCE and have been trying various GTK email clients looking for something I like. So far I like Balsa but everytime I start the program, Debian asks for my gnome-keyring password. How do I kill this behavior?

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I've tried finding a solution to this on my own for the past few days (believing it is a simple solution), but for the life of me I can't figure it out. I'm running 11.2 and I have Evolution as a start-up program and I have finally got my wireless working, so it connects automatically at start-up also. I figured out how to have network manager automatically unlock the default keyring, but...
Each time evolution starts up I am prompted to unlock the default keyring. How can I give Evolution permission / access to the default keyring automatically so it can check me email upon start-up without me having to type in my password?
I've tried Ubuntu, Arch, and most recently Fedora but the SUSE GNOME environment blows everything else away!
The only problem (so far) is that Network Manager requires you to enter your password every time you login to unlock the password keyring. I want to disable this.
I think some distros disable the prompt by using the login password to unlock the keyring, but I use auto-login (if that makes a difference).
I installed opensuse yesterday, but I don't remember the keyring password, and even if I know the WEP key by heart, it's boring to retype it. How can I reset the default password? I tried Keyring menu, dell all keyrings and created a new call "default", but it stills asking me the password, that is different that the new.
View 2 Replies View Relatedhow can i solve a small little problem: Every time i start opensuse 11.2 i get a window asking me to input the keyring password... this started to happen after i installed Pidgin. how can i stop the keyring from asking me the password everytime??? how can i even get to this "keyring"??
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have never configured any keyrings. I set up Evolution, and it's working, but sometimes Gnome wants me to allow it to access the default keyring to get the email password. It takes 3 cancel-deny tries to finally dismiss this dialog box, after which Evolution is working fine. I see that this is not an Evolution thing. Other users report the same thing in VINO, and on wireless access. The GNOME forum seems to think there is a bug when accessing severs, and has a bug and milestone. Some other distros have the same problem.
One user says that they were able to Delete the default keyring (which must have had an unknown default password) and then create a New default keyring with thier own password. This seems to have solved that user's problem. However there were no instructions on how to do it. I think someone else was able to just stop the default keyring daemon. That would work too, although it's not as elegant. I'm now unable to find instructions.
NetworkManager stores its connection secrets in a keyring called "default". I am prompted to supply the keyring password every time I log in, regardless of whether I select the "automatically unlock this keyring when I log in" radio button.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm a bit puzzled by new "keyring everywhere" feature, well the case: Now I'm using 11.3 brand new suse and just when I want to connect to INTERNET via my DSL connection, a keyring password window appears, well I fill in the keyring password and hit enter, then another window pops out with my DSL connection asking me to enter a password for my DSL connection (but I've already set it up it before) and ok, I enter my password hit enter, but DSL window pops out again! and nothing happens,
I do it several times like a puppet, then I delete my DSL connection and make it again, so everything works with passwords no(no keyring is being promted). SO what do I do wrong? How can I disable this keyring feature, I do not need it at all, why do I need to recreate my connection every single time?
i changed my password and whenever i log in i get a message that ur login keyring password and user password do not match, so how do i change my login keyring password!!

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm new to openSuse after installing it on my work machine as a replacement for Ubuntu.
I have Evolution mail up and running and all is well other than I am having a problem when receiving mail.
When I first start Evolution, it checks and downloads my new mail without any issues however whilst it is running it won't download any mail, either automatically or manually via the Send & Receive button.
It appears to be checking my accounts (the progress box pops up briefly) and is not reporting any errors, just not downloading until I close Evolution and then restart.
Sending is working perfectly.
I must admit that I "imported" my old mail in a bit of a cack-handed fashion and did have to uninstall/re-install Evolution - I noticed that it uninstalled a few extra packages however when I reinstalled, it only selected the main Evolution packages.
The fact that it is receiving on Evolution start-up I think rules out my settings being incorrect.
I just installed 11.2 and have this warning in messages:
gnomesu-pam-backend: gkr-pam: couldn't unlock 'login' keyring: 255
Also, there's no login screen and I can't remember how to configure for that.
Whenever I restart my computer, it asks me to retype the keyring password for Network Manager. Is there a way to get rid of this or set it permanently?
