Ubuntu :: Right Mouse Click Freeze / When Right Mouse Button To Open Options Menu It Freezes And Does Not Open Menu?
Oct 14, 2010just want to report "Right Mouse Click Freeze" on Ubuntu 10.10. When I click on anything with my right mouse button to open options menu it freezes and does not open menu. Sometimes when I shake my mouse left/right a bit it opens that menu, but this does not work always. It seems like xserver issue, but I'm not sure since I'm not expert in linux yet. It's very annoying issue that I would like to resolve asap.
My System Specs:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.40GHz
CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)

Apr 8, 2011When I right click my desktop for example, to create a folder / change Desktop Background, my right click menu appears, but the moment i move my mouse onto it (mouse over) it disappears. Changed to 3 different mice with the same problem. I've just worked out that switching to console and back (CTRL + ALT + F1) then login and CTRL+F7 fixes the menu?? So I'm guessing this could be a bug with something gnome related?

Apr 13, 2011when i click my mouse on something, it sometimes registers as two clicks. it doesn't happen all the time, but frequently enough to be annoying. for example, when i click a videos video to pause it, it often opens into fullscreen (which you normally click twice to do). also, in the url bar of chromium, i can't select the entire url by clicking. i now need to use ctrl+a. that's also because when i try to select the url, the highlight randomly disappears.
if i have multiple windows open, my click on the first "x" of the top-most window also closes the next window. i'm on linux mint 10. it's not really important, but it drives me crazy sometimes when my mouse doesn't work the way i want it to.

Mar 13, 2010About a week ago I installed some updates. What they were I don't remember. After I did that my mouse started acting up. Now about half the time when I single click it registers as a double click. Also when I click and drag to select text anywhere it'll randomly do another click screwing up that process.
So far I think the problem is when I press the left mouse button it registers the left click and then when I release, it randomly registers another left click.
The mouse itself works fine if I take it to another PC that's using windows.
OS: Ubuntu 9.10 64bit
Mouse: Microsoft Intellimouse 3.0

If I normally click the Trash icon either in Kmail or in Evolution more than one mail gets deleted in a sequential order! I have to press the click button extremely light to avoid this problem. I have confirmed this problem is not only with the Email clients but even with most other normal applications too. I have changed my mouse twice but the problem persists. Both were USB mice. Mar 24, 2010I have Fedora 11 installed on my HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop, and have been using the installation for many months. Just this past couple of days, the 'right-click' on the mouse (whether using the trackpad mouse on the latop or an external mouse) has stopped working, but not completely. I can still right-click in firefox, on the bar at the top of screen, in a terminal window, etc. However, right-click is not working on the desktop, that is I can not right-click on a folder or a file. Nothing happens. If I right-click on the trash-can, nothing. So I know the mouse buttons are fine as right-click does work in firefox.

Feb 9, 2010to be able to copy a file, then right click my mouse and select paste as and save the file with a different file name. It will save me from making a duplicate and then renaming it, or defaulting to command line (which I live in anyways). Or how about copying some text and then just right clicking in a file manager and pasting the text as a file. It would save me the time to open an editor and pasting it and then saving it. I wouldn't think it would be too hard to grab the latest clipboard entry and redirect it to a file. Scripting the functions shouldn't be hard at all. I would think the hardest part would be to implement the right click menu function across different X environments. For example I use KDE 3.5. I don't even know how to edit the right click menu options (Google should fix that). I could setup the changes for my system, but it would only work on KDE 3.5 then. I would have to figure out how to do it for Gnome, Xfce, iceWM, Englightenment, etc. Should this be a standard feature given by the OS?

If I decide to unplug the mouse and work with the touchpad, I must always reverse the options again to pointer = 1 2 3, or else, while the right and the left button still work as a left-handed mouse, tapping, instead of acting like a left-click, gives a right-click menu. My touchpad is listed as:

using the evdev driver.
I admit that I haven't played much with alternate xmodmap configurations, but I'd like to sort this out. It's even more confusing since I don't have a xorg.conf and, if I manually add one, despite having tried repeatedly, I can't make X-server to read it.
