i found a strange problem in my redhat linux 5 enterprise edition. I use it in VMware. The issue in my desktop is icons are hidden and mouse right click menu is not displayed. i hope this issue not with mouse.unable to explore the data and no network access in graphical mode. kindly solve this issue please. it was working fine before.

iam using centos 5.4 and configured samba server and nfs server for fileserver.my problem is that when i login into root and saw desktop doesnot show any icon like computer ,trash , root home, and many others file which i saved in desktop.And also right click of mouse does not pop up menu.At the panel in side places there is "desktop" menu.but when i clicked on it , it gives error , files not found in its path. how to recover gnome desktop.or how can i get my desktop icon back...

I try to configure mouse click interval since a single click is recognized as double click by doing it from KDE mouse configuration in system settings; but my attempt doesn't work even (I set the click interval to 2 sec, but doesn't change anything). What is the best way to do this in slackware?

Example:Applications tab, settings, file manger, Behavior and then select single mouse click instead of double mouse click, renders no change in behavior what-so-ever.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have Fedora 11 installed on my HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop, and have been using the installation for many months. Just this past couple of days, the 'right-click' on the mouse (whether using the trackpad mouse on the latop or an external mouse) has stopped working, but not completely. I can still right-click in firefox, on the bar at the top of screen, in a terminal window, etc. However, right-click is not working on the desktop, that is I can not right-click on a folder or a file. Nothing happens. If I right-click on the trash-can, nothing. So I know the mouse buttons are fine as right-click does work in firefox.

Yesterday I installed Maverick (32bit), fixed the soundcard and everything worked very well. In particular my touchscreen (eturbotouch) worked now for the first time. Unfortunately there is a problem with the mouse. After some time the left mouse button stops working. There is no problem with the right button and with the movement of the cursor. I tried several mices, therefore the problem shouldn't be related to the mouse hardware.

View 4 Replies View Relatedwhen i click my mouse on something, it sometimes registers as two clicks. it doesn't happen all the time, but frequently enough to be annoying. for example, when i click a videos video to pause it, it often opens into fullscreen (which you normally click twice to do). also, in the url bar of chromium, i can't select the entire url by clicking. i now need to use ctrl+a. that's also because when i try to select the url, the highlight randomly disappears.
if i have multiple windows open, my click on the first "x" of the top-most window also closes the next window. i'm on linux mint 10. it's not really important, but it drives me crazy sometimes when my mouse doesn't work the way i want it to.
About a week ago I installed some updates. What they were I don't remember. After I did that my mouse started acting up. Now about half the time when I single click it registers as a double click. Also when I click and drag to select text anywhere it'll randomly do another click screwing up that process.
So far I think the problem is when I press the left mouse button it registers the left click and then when I release, it randomly registers another left click.
The mouse itself works fine if I take it to another PC that's using windows.
OS: Ubuntu 9.10 64bit
Mouse: Microsoft Intellimouse 3.0
mouse menu different in 10.10, is there a way to make the mouse single click instead of double click?

If I normally click the Trash icon either in Kmail or in Evolution more than one mail gets deleted in a sequential order! I have to press the click button extremely light to avoid this problem. I have confirmed this problem is not only with the Email clients but even with most other normal applications too. I have changed my mouse twice but the problem persists. Both were USB mice. A week or so ago any java app I had stopped working. I removed the apps from the java control panel as I've done before but this time when I re added the app the icon that gets put on the desktop shows as jws_app_shortcut_1290163648885.desktop. Each app has a different number. I have tried to re add them but no joy. In the java cp the icons shows and if I right click and run online it works. clicking the icon on the desktop works but it gives the message untrusted application launches. Click launch anyway and it works. I have removed java, reinstalled a number of times but no luck. I've just uninstalled java and removed any ref I could find to it from the system and did a fresh install of jre-6u22-linux-x64-rpm.bin still same issue. Has anyone seen this. know how to fix it? Im using fedora 12 x64

I can't move it. Right-click menu on a rectangle coincides with a right-click on desktop. It does not prevent, but very annoying.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a new system with Asus M3A78-EM mobo, 4 GB RAM, AMD Phenom II quad-core 955 3.2 GHz CPU, on which I've installed the 64-bit version of openSUSE 11.2. It's a lightweight server as well as a desktop machine, and is on 24/7 (and on a UPS). The problem is that the system reboots itself spontaneously, on average a couple of times a day, at seemingly random times. After one of these reboots, an examination of the system log shows nothing at all suspicious logged in the minutes prior to the sudden reboot. Sometimes the system recovers after the reboot, but about half the time the KDE4 desktop comes up with the keyboard and mouse not working. The system log in that case shows that the USB subsystem is wedged, with the message "task khubd:38 blocked for more than 120 seconds", followed by a series of call traces. At that point, I can usually log in via SSH from another local machine and execute a shutdown/reboot, and the system usually recovers fully after that... until the next spontaneous reboot. The only thing unusual about my USB setup is that I have a Hauppauge HVR-1950 TV tuner plugged in, and the pvrusb2 driver installed on the system.
The mobo has an onboard ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphic controller, and I installed the proprietory ATI driver for it in the hopes of improving system stability. It didn't.
Due to the lack of syslog warnings before one of these reboot events, I was inclined to think the hardware was at fault, and my first thought was bad memory. However, fairly extensive testing with memtest86+ showed no errors. Of course, it could be other more obscure hardware problems, but it would be nice to be a little more certain before I resort to replacing the motherboard or the whole system.
Other info... booting in failsafe mode doesn't seem to cure the problem. Setting acpi=off in the boot menu doesn't seem to help either. There are some suspicious things in the boot log, though, such as:
My system does not have ECC memory, so it is indeed properly disabled in my BIOS. Again, I see discussions of this bug(?) on the net, but little indication of whether it is anything serious.
At this point, I'm running out of ideas... I'm still not sure whether the hardware or openSUSE 11.2 are at fault, and I don't want to give up on either prematurely.
I encountered a problem clicking icons at the bottom of programs.An example: I was in Firefox and went to use the 'find' bar at the bottom Firefox application window. However, I couldn't click on it.I could interact with it through keyboard commands, but not by using the mouse. Later that day I tried using Openoffice.org Writer and when I went to click on a toolbar at the bottom of the application window I couldn't choose any of the icons with the mouse... The odd thing is that this only occurs when the bottom of the window is at the lowest point on the screen.(note: I have Avant Window Navigator running, so it isn't literally the bottom of the screen, just the lowest point the window can go.)Does anyone have any thoughts on what might be causing the problem, or maybe how to fix it---------- Post added at 10:25 PM CDT ---------- Previous post was at 09:42 PM CDT ----I just figured out that AWN is causing the problem. View 2 Replies View Relatedjust want to report "Right Mouse Click Freeze" on Ubuntu 10.10. When I click on anything with my right mouse button to open options menu it freezes and does not open menu. Sometimes when I shake my mouse left/right a bit it opens that menu, but this does not work always. It seems like xserver issue, but I'm not sure since I'm not expert in linux yet. It's very annoying issue that I would like to resolve asap.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm new to KDE and am running KDE 4.7.1 on top of Arch Linux. It's fantastic however I have one problem - virtual desktops. Yeah I know there are those "activities" things which people say replace virtual desktops and I will look into them, but for the moment I want to stick with what I know.
And it's almost set up too. In fact, it is, apart from one issue: Say I'm on desktop 3 and I click on the desktop (as in - the bit with my wallpaper, etc, not the little square in my panel) - it immediately switches to desktop 1. Got no idea why I'd want it to do that and it's bugging me.
I recently installed virtual box on debian and after it had finished my terminal informed me that I could remove some "unnecessary" software by use of sudo apt-get autoremove. When I did this, some of the icons on the desktop changed and all of the icons in the drop down menu on the bar at the top of the screen also changed to ordinary folder symbols. The theme that I was using also went away. I restarted the computer and it booted back into a shell prompt with no GUI. I tried to get back to the GUI using alt+f7 but it didn't seem to exist
