I recently bought an HP Mini Netbook which has a great feature called HP Quickmail.I was told this is a Linux front end which lets you get straight on to E-mails or the WEb without waiting for Windows 7 to boot. Every time I get a message "Sorry we are unable to check your Yahoo! Mail account now. Click here to check your Internet Settings" My settings are just fine and work perfectly with my main laptop.

I wanted to download some add-ons for claws, but most were only compatible with version 3.7.8, so I downloaded and installed 3.7.8 only to find that it doesn't support ssl connection, so I can't use it for my gmail account.

I have got a nagios server running on my network, The configuration seems to be okay but each time there is a service alert notification, and an e-mail is sent to the contact group, Nagios continuously sends e-mail over and over again. Do anyone know of a way to set Nagios directives to only send one e-mail per alert without it flooding mail boxes.

I am facing a issue that when I mail with the user sumit@linuxforfreshers.info then I am able to do it. But if somebody tries to send mail to the same user then it bounce backs. I have configured fetchmail, sendmail/postfix and mutt to act as a relay to receive mail. I can receive mail fine but I cannot send mail. Its working fine on my one box but on the one acting as a nat I am having issues. This is my mail log from the nat box.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI was recently connecting securely to the website where I have my mail account, and I connected through Tor. When doing so firefox presents me with the screen saying that the connection is untrusted and it can't verify the certificate. So I cancelled. I'm using torbutton and I turned torbutton to off and connected again with no problem. Then with torbutton on again, same thing (untrusted).
Is it possible the exit node I was going through is doing a man in the middle attack? However later when connecting through tor I did NOT get the warning about the site being untrusted. I really don't know what exit node I was using when I got the certificate warning and what exit node I was using when I did not recieve the warning. I don't know how long I stay on the same node or how/when it changes.
I am having alot of trouble setting up evolution to work with gmail. I am using pop for recieving mail and it's slow but still works. When I try to send mail with smtp.gmail.com I get the error message that the connection timed out. How can I set this up to send and recieve email?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have sendmail running (quite well) on my ubuntu box. It worksfine with Thunderbird locally. It runs fine with a few other MUAson (allowed) remote machines. It has one small problem I have notbeen able to clear up: it will not send mail that is initiated bythe 'mail' program locally. It gives me a "[127.0.0.1 connectionrefused] error in the logs. The /etc/hosts file is fine (as faras I know). The sendmail.cf file has been rebuilt from sendmeil.mc.'hostname' and 'dnsdomainname' return proper values. Okay, I'mstumped and looking for another set of eyes on the problem.

I just downloaded and installed Ubuntu a few days ago (on my Windows Vista Laptop), played around with it, did some trouble shooting (got my wifi card working!)... and am generally enjoying it.However, I am having issues loading my Yahoo Mail. I am using the newest version of Opera (which I also run on windows), but have tried Firefox as well. I am having absolutely no issues with Yahoo mail when I use Windows (in Opera, firefox, chrome, and IE), but can not get it to load at all with Ubuntu. Basically I can get to the Yahoo home page no problem, and can access any of the links etc., except for Mail. When I click it, I just get an error page (as if there was no Internet connection). I have not had problems with any other sites.I'm thinking its some kind of scripting/application conflict, but like I said this whole Linux thing is brand new to me. Have only ever really used Windows in the past.I'm hoping to get these minor issues hashed out, and eventually just drop Windows out of my reality.

I finally managed to install lubuntu onto this old laptop, and I noticed it came with "Sylpheed mail client" integrated into lubuntu-desktop. I entered in my name, username, and password, and pop3.live.com for the incoming mail (pop3 server), and smtp.live.com for the outgoing mail (smtp server), but whenever I attempt to get mail for my windows live email account the connection fails.
How do I make it not-fail?
I have two servers relavant here: mail.domain.com (1.1.1.1) - which is the nameserver and the mail server for domain.com. www.domain.com (2.2.2.2) - which is the www subdomain for domain.com domain.com (cname www.domain.com) - an alias for www.
The zone file for domain.com lists mail.domain.com as the MX server for domain.com. 2.2.2.2 is actually being served web pages as a virtual host. It's real hostname is www.anotherdomain.com. Mail for domain.com works pretty well, in general. However, if I attempt to send mail from www.domain.com (or its alias domain.com), I get "mail for domain.com loops back to myself" in the postfix logs. On 2.2.2.2 /etc/postfix/mail.cf has mydestination = www.anotherdomain.com, localhost. How do I tell postfix on 2.2.2.2 that mail for domain.com needs to be delivered to mail.domain.com?
