General :: Logitech Camera Not Co-operating In Lubuntu 10.10

Is there any way to get a cheap Logitech camera working with Skype/Lubuntu 10.10 which I just installed to my laptop compaq nx9010? Cheese is working OK, but Skype-Options-Video Devices-test picture gives me nothing but black. Skype recognizes the camera though, as to be USB Camera (046d:08d9) (/dev/video0).On my other computer (this one, Ubuntu 10.10) I have a Creative camera, works out of the box..
I was looking to iphone and i was surprised the quality of such tiny camera.
Is there any alternative camera for my laptop to have similar or much better then the one in iphone? So that i can use it from my laptop, but have very sharp HD quality with maximum megapixel + highest frame per second.
Does anyone know of a variant on the Logitech SetPoint software (it allows more functions for Logitech keyboards and mice) for Ubuntu? Would the Windows version work in Wine? I didn't think it would because the app uses Bluetooth, and I don't know if Wine can do that.
The damn thing keeps freezing my screen every time I open a new tab because google is more worried about spying on people than making their browser work correctly with flash crap. Who the hell is the retard ass idiot who had to put Chromium as the browser on lubuntu 10.10 anyways?? I've gone over all the steps outlined in every single tutorial I could find online and I don't have any clue where the hell I'm at now....
Still can't get FF4 to even install or load up or anything. No clue how to get rid of this evil Chromium garbage. And I'm getting really pissed and about to take a sledge hammer to the god damn computer! Must have all been designed by arrogant greedy Americans. Matter of fact, forget this.. I'm just going to wipe my HDD... AGAIN and switch to OpenSuse.
Has anyone professionally tested Lubuntu vs Mint LXDE and Quelitu with respect to RAM usage. They are all distros using LXDE. It would be nice to have hard numbers in terms of speed.
I am using Lubuntu 10.10 and have installed my application that I need. What I need is a link to the desktop that will execute the program from the /usr/share/test directory. When I execute the program I need to use "Sudo" in order to run in. So my questions is how would I add a symbolic link the desktop with the approipiate permission to run the executable. Also I need to add a custom icon the desktop.
I've got it to the point it will run when you login by adding a line to the /etc/xdg/lxsession/Lubuntu/autostart file. Added "synergyc 111.111.1.11" and it works perfect. So the main question is, how can I add that line somewhere, somehow to start on boot and not by login?
I installed Fedora 10 few days back in my laptop (dell inspiron15) and i had problems with wireless connection and webcam. I have a WLAN (UTSTARCOM) Had no problems connecting to net using lan cable. But wireless was a problem.I tried changing the settings in the Network Connection window using the settings wit my ISP. Still no luck. And with my webcam like i updated wit "yum update". and i got some software application named "digikam" but tat did not detect either my lap webcam or the usb (logitech) webcam that i had.
Sorry that i could not give more details about Wireless Driver. I also would request to know the command that i should use to actually know what driver is in my laptop and also for the video driver.
Prior to upgrading to Ubuntu 1.10 yesterday, Skype worked fine. Post upgrading, skype able to locate webcam but unable to detect mic (Logitech webcam and mic) and when hovering over skype icons the text is blank. I have removed skype and reinstalled via Ubuntu Software Centre as well as installing Quantus Plus from Synaptic Package Manager to no avail. I have tried using Google Video but video quality is poor. My knowledge on programming code is non-existent.
I have a Swann DVR4-2500 Security DVR with a Seagate SV series 500 Gig hard drive. I'm trying to offload the camera footage. The hard drive is formatted with Linux but dont know what kind. Would any type be able to help?
i bought this laptop for my parents to use with a webcam to communicate because i recently moved to another state. I have read that the logitech c200 webcam is compatible with my laptop, and should just install as soon as i plug it in. However, nothing happens when i plugged it in so i tried to install it from the cd. there is an icon that pops up on the screen when the cd is in, but goes away when it's removed. not sure what type of info you need. my system is linux mint 9 isadora.

I am new to Linux. I would like to activate my on board laptop camera. I thing I need the driver, but don't know which driver or where to get it. I am running Ubuntu 10.04, on a system 76 laptop.
installed UBUNTU Linux to my laptop, but my webcamera and mic not working in UBUNTU.checked sound settings, is all unmute. I downloaded GNOME Alsa MIxer, PulseAudio etc but nothing happened...I read other topics, someone said to type that commands (may be helpful to understand any problem i have -?-) "cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#* | grep Codec"--> Codec: Realtek ALC275"cat /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base" --> cat /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base: No such file or directory
In fedora or centos linux is it possible to connect HDMI camera to HDMI capture device [url]. And get the video for playback from Linux? Or still there will be driver issues?
I use an Asus 1201T EE PC, in India...which is new in the market. I don't know how to install the drivers necessary for the camera, and the internet isn't throwing much help for this- they appear to have drivers only for windows 7.
I have an old Intel webcam that doubles as a standalone digital camera. When I plug it in, Fedora automatically mounts the memory for the camera as a filesystem. However, because it is old and clunky, if I try to use its webcam functionality after this happens, it crashes internally and nothing ever happens.Even if I unmount the memory, still remains "crashed".I know that if the memory was never accessed, the webcam would work, as this is how it is on Windows, and also how it was in a previous release of Fedora, which didn't automount
connect your player to Ubuntu and with some magic Ubuntu changes it to a camera But now my 1 gig Philips Shoqbox can not play any music anymore. If i connect it in Xp it is also changed in a digital camera and i am not able to put any music file on it.In Ubuntu i can but the player doesnt see any of the songs. In Xp i cant format the player and can i do it in Ubuntu or Mandriva?Tomorrow i go install a new distro and is it a option to connect the device before i start the installation and format it then? And do i need to format it to fat32?Or is there a simple way to do it in a terminal?
Is it possible for me to use a command in terminal window to Download and Install drivers for Logitech C100 webcam. If so can I copy and paste because I`m Dsylexic.
I have installed "plug and play" webcam logitech c270. Audio works fine. I can see and hear when people call me. People can hear me, but not see me. On the Skype/Options/Video the "test" button for video results in blank white screen.
I am going to purchase an IC-3030 camera. I want to access the video stream and download it as it happens, but not by using the Edimax-supplied video utility, as the computer will be running Linux. I am unable to find in the user manual whether I can access the stream directly or not. How can I access the video stream directly from an Edimax IC-3030 camera?
I am planning on buying a DELL Monitor for my desktop. Now, I would like to have one which has an in-built camera. Also, my operating system is going to be Linux. Will I have any driver related issues for monitor as well as for the in-built camera.
I have overlooked some very important tools that would give me the information I'm looking for. What I'm trying to do is -
Plug in a USB camera find /dev/camera-pseudonym mount /dev/camera-pseudonym /camera cp * ~/pictures umount /dev/camera-pseudonym
and then work on adding this camera to /etc/fstab so that it will automatically mount to the usual place. I don't know how to find the pseudonym. I can, lsusb and see Bus 004 Device 009: ID 040a:05c1 Kodak Co. Digital Camera I can fdisk -l and not see any new partitions (which, with most USB devices with storage, I can usually see the partition listed in fdisk -l) After these two commands related to search FOR the pseudonym, I draw a blank and resort to manually searching /dev for things that may be useful.
This is difficult, though, because there are dozens of files named usb-something, and they're all very similar to one another, and not related to typical pseudonyms I'm used to (like /dev/usb[0-9], /dev/sd[a-z], etc) I would like to be able to find the /dev entry based on the ID 040a:05c1 because every USB devices I've tried has been listed by lsusb, and is accompanied by an ID number. How do I find the pseudonym in /dev for any usb device?
