Mar 10, 2011
Is there any way to find out log files increases we will get automatic email alert. for example if the log file size is 2 MB once the file exceeded 2MB then we will get email alert. is there any script.
i have CentOS 5.2 based server running openssh, which gives sftp service to the outside users(from internet), the users from some public ip-addresses uploads and download files from sftp-server directories. I want that whenever a user uploads a new file in certain directory of server, the server should send me an email alert
I wanted to know if anyone had an idea or has heard of creating an email alert when a user changes the password on a samba user?I would like to be able to receive and alert if a user changes their samba password. Could anyone point me in the right direction? I will be attempting this on Arch Linux.
I am looking for a script by which i get email alert if disk space goes above 80%, while this script should not email unless filesystem reaches 81% and then next email after 82% and on and on
I need to come up with a script that restarts every month, and sends out a reminder 5 days before the end of the month to all customers on the list with rentals. After 10 days, if their name hasn't be deselected, it will send out a last notice email to remind them of their contract and yada yada. I'm not sure if a web-based script (php) would be better, or a "regular" language like python or something.
I am looking for a utility that would do the following:1. Be run manually on a list of files whose sizes should not change, to get a control file containing the sizes of each file.2. Subsequent manual runs would report any changes in size of any of the files in the list, and allow option to accept the new sizes.3. Be run as a cron job to check for changes in the file sizes and send an email alert if a change has occurred since the last time it was run.The purpose is to detect possible hacks of key files on a website. It would not include files expected to change, but just those that should not change. It would be run manually a few times to get the control list one wants to monitor.
A user will be ftping some files to an upload directory. I need to move those files to another directory. I also need to mail a list of the just moved files to the user. This job will need to run every 10 minutes. I need to keep a log that holds all the files for the day that were moved, renaming it with the date/timestamp.I have this below but I just can't put it all together. a workable script out of this?
In my Windows environment, I use email client such as Microsoft Outlook to connect to our email server to send email with the following configuration:
Incoming server (POP3): 995 - (requires with SSL) Outgoing server (SMTP): 465 - (use encrypted connection SSL)
[code]....
And the mail server requires user ID login and password.how do I setup a text command based email client in my Linux (Centos 5.1) to send out email through the existing email server above, which is in another machine? The email client has to be text command based because I need to use command line to send notification email from anothar application installed in my Linux (Centos 5.1) Since the email client will only be used to send email notification, I don't require setting up of an email server in my linux.
Using CentOS. I have a cron setup to run this command: Code: /var/test.sh | mail -s "Test Cron" mr182@somewhere.com The email is sent but the output of the script is not in the email body, it's just blank. I know there is some output because there are some echo statements in the script.I don't want to get an email for all cronjobs, just this one.
I have an email setup where all of the emails from our email host is downloaded to our Linux server using Fetchmail. Then some of the incoming emails are sent to an MS exchange server (server1.domain.com) using Postfix. What i want to do is to send a copy of all emails to Another server (server2.domain.com) for redundancy. Can postfix be configured to send copies out to both?
My computer has a 2.80Ghz Intel Celeron processor and 498MB of RAM and 3GB of swap space. When I use Fedora 11 the user memory increases over time and even if I quit all the applications the user memory still does not go down. It eventually gets so bad that have to restart my computer.
My requirement is that I wanted a shell script which should read the alert.log(oracle) and should send the alert to my email if any error encountered on daily basis. I have a script which does the same job but at the same time it creates a new alert.log whenever any error occur. But I don't want the new alert log I wanted to read the same alert log daily and if any new error come should alert as email.
When a JavaScript calls the alert() method, Firefox send out a BEEP in my headphones. Does any one know how to stop that sound? I am running the newest Fedora Linux with Firefox 3.6.16 using Kde as desktop environment.
I was going fine yesterday and today I logged on and it seems as if my packets are being bundled up and sent at once, because websites spend ages loading, then all load together at the same time, my IRC lag bar increases and increases then pops back to 0 around the same time the web finished loading.
I want to run a cronjob every 15 minutes that checks a directory for files. If the directory contains more than ten files I want it to send an email to me.
All I have is this...
*/15 * * * * ls -l | wc -l | [filename] | mail -s "This is just a test" [email address]
I would rather not write a bash script. Is there an easier way to do this? I was looking into some commands like find and grep.
Is there any software I can use in the Gnome desktop environment on Ubuntu Linux 10.04 that alerts me of a new entry in one of my subscribed feeds, via something visual like a popup, glowing, etc.
Can advise if I want to have a alert message when a specific user is login to the system , what can I do ? that mean if a specific is login to system then send me a alert message ( by any way ) to inform me the user is login , what is the method ?
I am vijaya, glad to meet you all via this forum and my question is I set a crontab for automatic downloading of files from internet by using wget but when I kept it for execution several process are running for the same at the back ground. My concern is to get only one copy, not many copies of the same file and not abled to find out where it's actually downloading.
Is it possible to run OCR on new .pdf- and image-files in a spesifc folder on the server? Today the schools in the region was presented a tool that do exactly this, but of course this only runs on windows.
i'm in search of Script that sends a mail to the user if the mount point goes beyond 80% of its full space. send mail is configured in the system so that it can communicate with mail server.
I was wondering why after a couple of days of my ubuntu server running, that it goes from starting off at 94mb of ram usage all the way up to 498mb of ram usage?
I use an ATI card with proprietary drivers and my memory usage in ideal situations when idle is around 600-700 MB. I use cairo-dock, AWN, compiz, gnome-do, and GNOME (w/o panel). My problem is, I have mysteriously increasing memory usage over time, which drops back down after I restart all my openGL applications. It can get as high as 1.5 GB. Looking in top, the weird thing is that when I sort by memory, I observe that none of the applications I am restarting, nor Xorg, use a significantly smaller percentage of system memory after being restarted. So what is going on? Does fglrx have some kind of memory leak? And is there a fix? In the last 10 minutes, my memory has for no apparent reason increased from 700 MB idle to 775 idle, and is still going up.
Is there a way to avoid sudden increases in volume while watching movies? The problem is the difference between the volume of the dialogs & that of the special effects (example: firing of a bullet ,a car crash, a lightning strike & similar). Is there a way to limit the volume to a certain level ? I tried volume normalization filter of both vlc & smplayer. But none seems effective.
I was trying to have a go at installing MAC on my dell alongside Ub and W7. I copied the grub2 to the first part of my sda5 so as to put the mac loader in MBR.I have since repaired grub2 back to MBR.But now my beloved Ubuntu starts up then continuosly increases RAM usage till 90% then SWAP 90% even when no application is running!!
