Ubuntu :: Screen Rotation In Lucid - Gateway M275 Tablet ?
Jul 1, 2010Recently installed ubuntu on my gateway m275 tablet alongside windows xp tablet. Everything, including the stylus/pen without any poking around. However, I'm having trouble getting the screen orientation to rotate.
If I go to system-preferences-monitors, the only option for rotation is "normal".

Mar 13, 2011I have a Toshiba TC1000 which is about 8 years old. 256 ram, 1.66 ghz processor, 30 gb hdd, running Win XP sp3. I bought this as an emergency purchase and have had nothing but problems with it and other than throwing it at the wall I thought I might try one last solution - to install Linux. This device has no optical drive but it does have power ISO installed but I don't know where to start with all the choice of Linux, Ubuntu etc. Plus other than the OS will I need any other software? I am a newbie and don't know much about computers so I won't be insulted if you think this is idiotic.

May 3, 2011i have purchased an archos 2.8 internet tablet. i have gone through the website and have read that the device is COMPLETeLY open, allowing for people to put android, or even ubuntu onto the device. but do ya think there is any website that google can find with people that have done this? no. the device comes preinstalled with android 2.2 froyo. i enjoy android. but on this little guy i need something a little bit lighter and less bugs. with only having access to a limited french "android market". i certainly got around that and have the full market available, but it was just too much hassle and the device thinks its a phone. what flavor of ubuntu would work will with this wifi touch screen device? heres a link to the device if your wondering what im talking about.

Sep 15, 2010I m on ubuntu 10.04 and have a Trust tb 4200 tablet.. and having problems with my trust tablet runing on ubuntu.. i pluged in the tablet and to my amaze it started working right away until i pressed the pen on the tablet.. i cant seem to move the mouse curser anymore unless i touch the pen on the tablet. (wich acts as a click) so i thought that i may be missing the drivers.. i checked thes forum and there was a post to install the aptek drivers which i did (but still worked the same) and i found out thet there was no 10-aiptek.fdi (in "/etc/hal/fdi/policy/") so i created one and copied one from a post.. in [url]...3&postcount=50 but still cant move the courser without touching.. its like if it did no diference at all.. i also changed the values in the 10-aiptek.fdi with no changes.. the size of the tablet is just the size of the screen so i am using the full tablet.. and no buttons work...
I think the drivers are not workin.. in the synaptic it shows as intalled...

Mar 13, 2010I have noticed they sell digital writing tablets that have the ability to show the pen strokes both on the tablet's display and on the computer's monitor at the same time, and I think they are called LCD digital tablets and they serve as both a second computer monitor AND a writing tablet combined in one, such as the Wacom Cintiq, and must be connected both by USB as well as with a VGA/DVI port, and you have the ability to open up a drawing application directly from the tablet such as Paint where you can draw or write on the tablet's display. And you can see what you are writing on the tablet's display. Then you save the results to a JPEG file, for example.
But I do not want a digtal tablet quite as elaborate as that. I am looking for something similar to the credit card terminals used in stores where you can sign your name directly on the display after swiping your credit card, and you can see what you are writing as you write. Then your signature shows up on a paper receipt later. Do they make digital tablets like that for the home user, and if they do, would they have to hook up to the VGA/DVI port on your video card? What are they called and where can I get one?
I've searched several online stores but they do not say if you can see what you are writing on the tablet's display. I already have a Wacom tablet in Linux but you can not see what you are writing on the tablet. I have to keep looking up at my computer's monitor to see what I am writing and proficiency is reduced as a result. And again, I do not want a tablet as elaborate as I described in my first paragraph. I want something simplier, such as the type used at a credit card terminal.

Omnipen OP-906 (ancient mid-90's device). It came with floppy with drivers for Windows 3.11 and old Mac Plugs into ttyS0 (com1. It has "tablet mode" and "mouse mode". It is meant to always start in "tablet mode", but if I give it a small power interruption (take out the AC plug from the wall halfway and quickly plug it back in), it sometimes kicks into "mouse mode". Apr 27, 2010I have just purchased a Gateway NV5214u laptop, preloaded with Vista for my spouse. I want to install Mandriva 2010.0, either as a sole system or as a dual boot. I am not familiar with Vista and think that I can better help her to learn computing if she is using a Linux machine.
Is this machine fully compatible for a Linux install? Will Linux be able to support the additional keys on the keyboard, such as the volume controls? I have made a recovery disk from the hidden partition. In the event that my spouse wishes to revert to Vista, will the recovery disk handle the fact that the disk has been repartitioned?
I have previously repartitioned Windows 2000 machines and installed dual boots but never done so on a preloaded laptop, The Windows 2000 machines always had full OEM Windows 2000 disks.
General :: Multi-touch Graphics Tablet (DIY Version)
Feb 2, 2010After watching the absolutely amazing 10/GUI video, I have been dying to try to implement something like this. I can do the software side quite easily, but I don't have the hardware. The Wacom Bamboo Fun would work, but the Linux drivers don't support the multi-touch features. Microsoft's "UnMouse Pad" looks like the perfect solution, but it is not commercially available yet.
Are there any similar devices that would work? Alternatively, is there a way to build a DIY version? (It is fairly easy to build a multi-touch display with a webcam and IR LEDs, but it would not be pressure sensitive. Does anyone have any info on how the UnMouse Pad works and if it is possible to build one?). I should clarify that I don't want a multi-touch display. I want the sensor to be separate from the display. If that sounds crazy, watch the 10/GUI video.

Well to permanently add IP address in etho I use the file #cd /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts and then use # vi ifcg-eth0 to add IP address and Network Mask. How can I add Default Gateway and DNS permanently in ifcg-eth0 file or there is any other file for it ?

General :: Default Gateway Does Not Allow To Get Connected To The Internet?
Jan 20, 2011i have a leased line ( speed 2 MB ) which we use to connect to our mail server , oracle ERP etc.. we have a dhcp scope defined as 192.168.100.1-192.168.101.254. with a default gateway as 192.168.100.90 ( which is a cisco router ) we have a pix firewall ( 192.168.100.10 ).. now the gateway passed all the request to firewall..we have an ADSL of 4 MB speed.. ip is 83.*.*.230 from ISP. i have a proxy server ( squid ) eth0 is connected to ISP (83.*.*.230).. eth1 to LAN ( 192.168.100.79 ) now the problem is when i put default gateway to eth1 ie 192.168.100.90 the squid connects to internet via leased line.. if i leave the default gateway field empty on eth1 , the squid connects to internet via ADSL ( which i want ) but the problem is no one on the lan cant ping the squid server ( no connectivity to internet for the whole LAN ) how can i solve this problem? PS : i want squid to connect to internet with ADSL, but if i put gateway on eth1 ie LAN squid goes through leased line which i dont want to happen

Feb 1, 2011we have several servers working on 172.15.2.X series .Our mail server ip is 172.15.2.4 & plateform is linux as it is squirrelmail server.other server which have the same series of ip are working on win2k3 plateform.however I try to recognise this problem by iptraf tool but can't get positive result.
Sometime the ip of all 172.15.2.X series could not ping from outside and LAN as well .
We has been temporarily resolving this problem by
1 changing gateway on all servers as well on firewall.
OR
2 change the ethernet card on mail server and configure same ip on new one .however we have only two NIC card on mail server .The problem resolved temporarily for one OR two hour after it same problem on that card also.than again we have to do same step on switching on another NIC card and reconfigure IP and do down first one.
OR
Take shut down for few time the mail server. But by these all above are not permanent solution BKZ After few hours mailserver starts blocking the gateway again. Than we want to know that what issue can be with this server
1 Are we need to configure VLAN?
2 Is that hardware problem?
3 Is this traffic overflow problem whcih is chocking the gateway of whole network machine having same gateway?
I am sending the few attachment to you please revert ASAP.But keep in mind one thing that attached document indicate the good running mailserver configuration.may be you could not found any problem in this conf.
In order to resolving this problem I have tried by changing duplex mode to
1 > 1000 MB/ps full duplex utonegotiation off
&
2 > 1000 MB/ps full duplex autonegotiation on
but can' get positive Result. I have also tried by IPbinding but it was useless. I think some thing wrong is happening in mailserver which make gateway chocked and 172 series server got also affected by this because they could not get path of gateway as it got choked by mail server's over broadcasting .Although I have make ready the old mailserver it is working but it is cabinet server & not reliable so please suggest for that problem.

Oct 25, 2010When using gateway 196.214.15.X with ip 192.168.1.X all windows pc connect to internet and email but using the same range on rhel5 it cant even ping mailbox. Why is the ip masked, can u get software to trace the ip of the gateway from the windows pc, the 196 ip is I suppose a public ip as it is the ip of my lease line? How do I get the RHEL5 running internet using the same range as the windows boxes ??
