I have installed virtual Redhat in Redhat using Xen virtualization. The ip of the virtual OS is 192.168.0.3 and of main OS is 192.168.0.2. But even then I apply "ping" command then "Destination unreachable" error occur. How to connect virtual and main Redhat!

The names are of course not in DNS so to access the server from my local Windows machine I had to use the hosts file: 12.345.678.90 dev1 Entering dev1 in my browser *does* take me to the server but it takes me to default VH (DocumentRoot /var/www/html). What am I overlooking?
had a box lose it's virtual IP address on the eth0 card. I rebooted the box but it just would not give the card the second IP address. We rebooted several times in fact.Today admin ran 'ifup ifcfg-eth0:1' and the virtual IP was there. Nothing was changed, just that command was ran.I thought there might be a problem with the automagical stuff so I rebooted the box again, virtual IP is there and happy.Anyone know why it would not have come back on reboot and why it now does?

Scenario is like this I have three virtual redhat server(R1,R2,R3) 5.0 on VMware workstation 7.0 installed on window 7(physical machine), on R1 I have DNS server , On R2 I have Apache web server and I have hosted a website called "geekgadget.com" just for testing purpose, R3 is just a normal server nothing installed on it yet..
Problem : I can access my website [URL] from all of my three virtual redhat server but when I try to access it from some of my physical XP,window 7 machines as well as from virtual XP machine present on my local LAN, website cannot be accessed so I am not getting the point why it happens because I checked that my port 80 is listening.
I have a main Ubuntu system and a virtual Windows system, set up using QEMU/KVM. So, I can start Windows using virt-manager and connect to it using a VNC client.But what I really want to have is a new Xorg display that is connected to this Windows system, so that e.g. CTRL-ALT-F8 shows Ubuntu, CTRL-ALT-F9 shows Windows. That'd be a real alternative to a Linux/Windows dual-boot setup.

im a newbie in this of linux. I want to have a linux virtualbox with DB servers like Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL and so on, so i installed Fedora in virtualchine of virtualbox. In the network configuration i set the Bridge Connection to enable Fedora to get IP from DHCP and it works fine. After that i've installed Oracle 10G Express and it works fine, i can connect without problems to oracle admin web application from Fedora. I have successfully installed Slackware though in virtualbox.I thought to learn first before falling into any pitfalls. Will do hard disk installation after learning more in virtualbox..But, I see now that I can't connect to the internet in the virtualbox... View 7 Replies View RelatedI have this old Toshiba Tecra 730CDT laptop, pretty useless with it's 150MHz Pentium processor and 48MB RAM. I am considering to throw it out for good. But, before I do it, I wanted to hear maybe it is still possible to use it:
1) perhaps there is some really thin linux distro that would let me to connect to a virtual PC on a server, transmit the mouse and keyboard events, and get the image and sound streamed back.
2) Maybe there is some other smart use of such gear, like installing it in car or something. I doubt it though, because it's heavy (8lbs~3.6Kg), bulky and energy-inefficient. But still... it's so hard to accept that such smart pile of electronic must go to the junk yard.

I installed VMware player and installed windows xp on it, but i can't connect it to the internet. I tried NAT mode and when i click connect, it shows me the error "Could not connect Ethernet0 to virtual network /dev/vmnet8" . If i select bridge mode instead, it connects successfully but i am not able to get an internet connection then and can't ping any ip except 192.168.1.1 .

View 9 Replies View RelatedSince a few weeks I cannot open a console in vmware server 2.0.2 anymore. I don't know exactly when this started because I use vmware only occasionally (I have only 1 program (an old Ashlar DrawingBoard) which does not run properly in wine). VMware server and the console have been working before without problems, but now I get the message "Cannot connect virtual machine console." and it times out. This is on Opensuse 11.1 with VMware Server on the same pc, Firefox and the guest is Windows2000.
I have tried to disable all extensions in firefox 3.6, disabled the firewall, even created a new user (on the same pc) with a clean firefox, all without any result. However when I connect from a different computer which runs Internet Explorer under windowsXP, then I can get the console without problem.
So, somewhere there is something wrong between Firefox and VMware server.
I have a virtual private server that I am trying to connect to using x11vnc. I ran this through ssh to setup gnome

I later ran sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop to see if that would help.

I've set up a server running Ubuntu 10.10 (desktop) with apache. Problem is: When I try to configure multiple virtual hosts I can only access the first one. I'm sure that I'm missing something basic in my setup, but I cannot seem to figure out what.
What I want is simply two virtual hosts, one only available on the LAN where I can test my php files and one "live" available from the outside.
Heres what I've done:
Installed Apache2.2
Copy /etc/apache2/sites-available/default -> /etc/apache2/sites-available/dev
Modified "dev" config DocumentRoot and Document to point to /var/www/dev
Modified "dev" config VirtualHost to <VirtualHost *:1337> (port change right?)
Modified "default" config DocumentRoot and Document to point to /var/www/live

Live works fine, but dev cannot connect (as if there is no server there).
