General :: How Can Stitch 2 Video Files Using Ffmpeg?
Feb 4, 2011I've created some time-lapse videos from photos, using this command: ffmpeg -i IMG_%03d.JPG -s 1440x1080 -sameq video.MP4
And it worked great. Now I want to join several of these time-lapse videos to make a single, longer video (all the input videos have the exactly same format). I already tried using: cat video1.MP4 video2.MP4 > stitch.MP4
but the output ends up being equal to video1.MP4, I don't want to transcode nor changing any parameter of the video, I just want a end-to-end stitching, as if those videos were on a playlist.

May 31, 2011I got tired of dual booting on my old computer so on the new computer I am planning to run XP on VMware Player. The problem is that on the new computer neither Ubuntu or XP can "see" the FAT32 partition. I intend to use the FAT32 partition for photo images and old Windows files and need access from both Ubintu and XP.
Partition table entries are not in disk order.

I have managed to install Fedora 11 on my Advent 8315 laptop and I have wireless connection via my Belkin Wireless N modem router. I have always been able to setup Windows networking successfully but Fedora is much more complex, using terminology that I am not familiar with. What I need to do to achieve networking with my Windows computer? I especially want to network to my Canon printer which is connected to the Windows PC.

I an app on my Myspace Page and I am unable to view my dressing room in my super pets app. I get the same results from my super pets app as I do when I try to upload photos. Although the stuff is there, I get an empty box. Feb 12, 2011I need to be able to open a photo manager and scan directly from within the program without opening a separate app. Is there one that does? I just installed Mint on my daughters laptop. Wow! I'm impressed. I tried a some Linux distros a few years ago and although I liked the idea, I just couldn't find one that impressed me. Things have changed since then! I tried 2 or 3 distros this past week and they all beat the pants off any version of Win... that I've used. I'm so impressed that I am now considering installing on my machine if I can find software replacements. If not, I may still do it and run Virtualbox when I need to. I need to start with the photo manager.

Update: Experimented with "Hugin". It only distorted all photos according some "projection" and refused to merge them: enblend: excessive overlap detected; remove one of the images. Of course "excessive" - they're all almost in the same place. No averaging? /* and images are not actually aligned */.
Proceeding to experiments with enblend/panorama_tools/ale.
General :: Move Photos From Hard Drive To DVD Using Mandriva Spring 2008
Jun 6, 2011This is the equivilent of a DJ going into the"dusty records bin"to play an old song.I've got a hard drive that's left over from a Mandriva Spring 2008 computer and I need to copy the photos off it to a DVD and move them to a computer running Ubuntu.I can't seem to get the Ubuntu computer to access what's on the Mandriva drive, so I've loaded Mandriva Spring 2008 on another computer.
I've accessed the photos I need easily enough, but can't copy them to a storage medium so I can move them to the other computer. I've tried two USB devices, an external DVD drive and a flash drive and can't just copy (or drag 'n drop) the files to the other devices.This evening I may try a portable hard drive, again with a USB connection, and see if that works.
If there's a fool-proof way to do this by using a terminal, I'll try that. I haven't been able to devote enough time to Linux to familiarize myself with terminal commands. Or, if there's a program that will run under Mandriva Spring 2008 that will let me accomplish the transfer, I'll try that as well.

Dec 27, 2010I'm not familiar with Linux and I do not understand technical wording at all. I was given this laptop as a favour and it is an ex-work Dell Latitude. I was given this to help me as a replacement when my Compaq working with Windows Vista stopped working. I do not understand the way Linux works much. I managed to upload photos before from my Ericsson K850i to my memory stick but this time when I tried it kept telling me that the path was invalid and such things which I did not understand. I created a folder for 2011 photos ready to go next year but the mouse pad is hard to control and even though I did nothing the 2010 folder went into the 2011. Sorry if I am not being very clear.
All I want to know is where did my whole years worth of digital photos go from my memory stick as I didn't delete anything. Would someone please help me understand all the different extensions or tell me what I need to do to try and retrieve them. I would be so grateful. I was nearly crying when it happened as when you right click in Linux there is no Undo/Redo button.
I have searched the board and I did see some other questions but I don't think they will help in this instance so I have started one. I hope I can get my photos back and also hope to hear from someone soon.

Last time I tried this, it says hal.dll was not found. However, that may have been caused by having five partitions. Do u think its safe now that I'll only have 4? Will Windows XP fail if I put in a partition in the free space?

In Windows it was a matter of simply moving the folder Location in Properties. I cant seem to figure out how to use the 'documents' 'pictures' etc in my NTFS partition to mesh up with their equivalents in Linux.

In that space, I have installed PC Linux OS (Linux). Now, I want to use that free space to Install Ubuntu by removing the PC Linux OS. When I boot with the live CD of Ubuntu 9.1 to install, in one of the steps, it says the system does not have any OS. It neither recognises windows nor the other linux. Kindly help me. What should I do now. Could I manage to install Ubuntu without completely formatting the system all again.

The problem is that there may still be some system files running in the background that prevent all of your free space from consolidating. For some reason, I didn't find many partitioning guides that mention this.
If you find at Step 11 that your shrink space is still abnormally small, what you need to do is go back and open PerfectDisk. With "Consolidate Free Space" selected in the drop down box, click the "Boot Time" button. This allows PerfectDisk to consolidate free space while your hard drive is offline. Once this is done, go back to Step 10 and everything should work from there!

Feb 24, 2011I found a guy who created free software for windows that will allow a regular whiteboard or monitor to function just like a $5000 Smartboard (really a giant sized iPad run with a projector rather than backlighting), and all it takes is an infra-red pen, a Wii remote, and a bluetooth linkup to a computer to do it. The pen can be built with a Bic penshell and a Radio Shack LED if you follow instructions.
This is called a Wiimote. His version doesn't have all the education-specific apps that Smartboard does (Smartboards mostly designed for classroom instruction), but it does seem to allow everything else, ie, you can run any windows program on it. Is there a Linux version of this or some alternate? I'm worried about BSOD in the middle of a presentation, and I'd like some comfort that won't happen to me. And I might be inclined to pay a programmer to duplicate any educational software that I can't get otherwise.
