Fedora :: Will Firefox Remember Passwords
Nov 24, 2009Running FC11 64 bit and Firefox 3.5.5. Under Edit->Preferences->Security, I have checked the box "Remember passwords for sites". But Firefox doesn't remember the passwords. It does remember the usernames. Is there something else that I must do to get it remember passwords?

Jun 11, 2011I've got a strange issue here concerning Firefox. Of some sites i don't ant my login and password to be saved by Firefox. The question pops up (below navigation bar) i click no and it's gone. But when i go to the same website, let's say, the next day, i get the same question. This issue is not related to 1 website, it's doing with all kinds of sites i log in to.
How can i prevent that FF comes up with that question to remember my login/password even when i clicked on No, do not remember? Pleae keep in mind that some site i do let FF save my login/password, those sites are regular visited by me. So unchecking the option in preferences i rather don't want that.
Who can tell me why FF keeps coming up with that question even if i click on no?

And I did ln -s /usr/lib/../libjavaplugin_oji.so to my firefox plugins directory but I still have no java.There is also no java enable in the preferences/advanced in firefox. I also did about: config and switched to libjavaplugin_oji.so.Still no dice.I noticed that mozilla works, I launched PDM successfuly, but I want to use firefox. As for the java version, it's the only version Cisco's PIX PDM works.That's why i have this version of java.
Slackware :: Preferences Window Not Displaying In Firefox 3.6?
Jan 28, 2010I have Firefox 3.6 installed on slackware64-current and everything works correctly.However when I use Firefox 3.6 on slackware-current (32bit) and I do Edit -> Preferences, the window is opened but the content does not display. If I click the close button, Firefox terminates, but I can no longer get the focus onto another window and I have to restart X with Ctrl-Alt-backspace.(The same thing happens when I try to logout of LQ!). I have tried reinstalling Firefox 3.6 and jre to no avail. I have tried removing my ~/.mozilla/firefox to build a new profile. The same problem also occurs as root. I have reverted to Firefox 3.5.7 and all is OK.

Sep 17, 2009Trying to open Firefox, and find that I cannot. It crashes. So, have opened Seamonkey, and am writing this from there. F11 updated to the latest on an ThinkPad R51. If I try my terminal, it opens provided I quickly open an empty tab before the home page loads. As soon as I try to connect to a page, or even preferences, Firefox crashes.

Software :: Pop Up Window Comes Inspite Of It Being Blocked In Firefox Preferences
Nov 1, 2010While browsing following page [url]I get a random window popped up on my box the link which pops up is of following page [url]
In case any one wants to see what I am trying to tell just open that page [url] and try to click on some menu button in navigation bar. You will see an advertisement "Play online games"
Now I would like to tell Firefox-->Edit-->Preferences-->Content-->Block Pop up windows there is a tick on that box. Also as I open that page [url]I do see a message in firefox which says this page tried to open pop
up windows which have been blocked.
And inspite of this message I get to see that advertisement of "playing online games" It has been so frustrating and annoying to each time close that pop up.
My question is inspite of the option of blocking pop up windows enabled why do I get to see this advertisement. Can I some how stop this behavior. I use Lucid 64 bit and Firefox 3.6.10.
Ubuntu :: Appearance Preferences Override Firefox Tango Theme
Mar 6, 2011I just upgraded to ubuntu 10.04 from 9.10, and one of the first things I did was to find a nice desktop theme. I tried several from gnome-look.org and eventually settled on one called "the days of grace"
Anyway, somewhere along the way, while trying out themes, I used a script provided by a theme author which installed the theme automatically, which had undesirable results. I don't remember the theme that did this, so I'll just call it theme x. The theme x script somehow made firefox use theme x instead of the default firefox "tango" theme, and now the tango theme is not available, because the theme x theme supersedes it.
The theme x does not show up in ubuntu's appearance preferences, but somehow it looks to be linked to the theme I chose, "the days of grace." I can switch to a default ubuntu theme (Ambiance, Radiance, etc.) and I have my firefox tango theme back.
Does anyone know how I can delete this theme x theme, and get back the tango firefox theme?
Fedora :: Software Update Preferences Ignores Preferences?
Apr 3, 2010On my system, System->Preferences->Software Updates, as best I can determine, completely ignores the "Check for updates: " setting. It looks as if, regardless of what I set, I get daily checks. Is anybody else experiencing this? Anybody got a fix? I like the idea of having the system check for me, so I don't want to just pitch the program.

Now I'm using KDE 3.5 for several weeks and one thing really annoys me: there are a lot of programs that don't remember their last window position and/or size. They always default to a specific location/size when I close and open them again. I give you some examples:
Program that doesn't remember anything:
- Konqueror
Program that remembers window size, but not position:
- KMail
Nice Program that remembers everything:
- Basket Note Pads
Is there a way to tell these programs to remember their position/size?And a second question about konqueror: Can I tell konqueror to remember the view mode? I prefer MultiColumn view, but it always defaults to Icon view.
General :: Import All My Music - Rythmbox Won't Remember Once Close ?
Aug 13, 2010I am trying to use Rythmbox to replace windows media player, in Ubuntu 10.04. So of course, I needed to import all my music. So in Rythmbox I go to Music>Import Folder and then I simply select the correct folder, which is on a different drive. And sometimes, that works. even though it won't remember that I did it once I close Rythmbox. Other times, when I do that, Rythmbox simply closes right then and there, and has to be reopened. I don't really know what is going on here, other than what I would call a bug. But it never actually keeps the music file that I imported. I always have to re-import it, every time I open Rythmbox.

I just installed Thunderbird and wanted to copy all my preferences and account settings to the new laptop. All email accounts are IMAP based.Can I simply copy the data, or does Thunderbird for OS X store data in a different format from OS X? What about if I wanted to copy the preferences to Thunderbird under Windows? Finally, what files do I copy? I haven't powered up the Linux laptop yet but I'm guessing there's a ~/.thunderbird/ directory, can I just copy this to the Mac?

one more thing.When i booted my PC today it reported an error and process terminated before reaching the login window. May 5, 2011I just upgraded to Natty (11.04) and I want to get my Ubuntu to remember what last windows I had open after I logout and then login.
Due to reasons beyond my comprehension, hibernate and sleep do not work, and I prefer to use shutdown anyway.
I am using Unity and have not changed much of the default environment. I found plenty of guides for 8.04, but the Unity change has moved a lot of things around.
Is this possible, and if so, how do I do it in 11.04?

Mar 6, 2011I'm having some problems of security in my Fedora 12... excess of security. It keeps me asking mi password everytime I want to perform an operation, and in some cases I'm pretty sure that this hampers me to work with some files.
Everytime I boot it, it asks about the password for the wireless network, and when I fill that out, another window pops up saying "Enter password for default keyring to unlock" (I press the "deny button" always for this one as it doesn't accept my user password.
I'm a newbie in linux and in programming, so I spend the days facing problem after problem and it's starting to drive me crazy. I'm not the root of the computer, but just a superuser (I hope that's not the problem)
Isn't it possible just to put my password when I start and then work without writing it anytime?
Ubuntu :: Burg - Won't Remember Theme
Mar 27, 2010I installed Burg, I then spent a decent amount of time editing a theme to look like I wanted as shown below. Its slightly glitcy but I pretty pleased However burg is refufing to save my choice of theme The configuration file looks like this, I've tried changing the theme to = the specific theme i want but that doesn't work, neither does changing the folding options to = yes.

Ubuntu Networking :: Does Not Remember Wi-Fi Password?
May 13, 2010I hate to make a new thread for something that has probably already been solved, but searching through all the threads can be a challenge in itself.Every time I log in to Ubuntu 10.04 I am asked for the password to my Wi-Fi connection. About a week ago it was working fine, however after, I think, the second update Ubuntu was longer able to remember the password. Its not a major problem as I can access the Internet its just really inconvenient.

However, even though I right click on a media file and select it to open with VLC and ticks the "Remember this application for ..." box, files of this type still keep opening in the "Movie Player" application. Feb 18, 2010When I plugin a 2nd monitor, the display settings in Configure Desktop allows me to change the display mode to single expanded screen versus duplicate desktop. However, after restart the computer, I have to do that again. I can understand that if I un-plug the 2nd monitor, it should intelligently switch to a single screen mode. But if I don't, it should remember it.
Make the matter worse, if I am in single span screen mode (1 desktop on 2 monitors) and I unplug the monitor while the computer is running, it would not know how to switch back, even in the Display settings of Configure Desktop saying it's in the single monitor mode. This means application and mouse can freely be pushed way over that area of the screen (hidden). I write free software too, and I don't let obvious bugs like this creep into a major distribution like OpenSuse 11.2. It just gives a bad image for OpenSuse and open source in general.
