I am basically from system side and often confused about the calculation of the IP addresses.Just i want to know that what how can i calculate the following of a IP Address:

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have just installed FC12 on my machine - and gone Windows free for the first time ever. Now I do use various flavours of Linux on a daily basis but not from an installation/sys admin point of view so my questions here may seem a little basic but pleas eindulge me if you will!
Now, my network connection works perfectly well under the following scenarios.
1) FC12, wired to router
2) FC12, wireless, SSID broadcast enabled
3) Ubuntu (laptop), wireless, SSID broadcast DISABLED
The only scenario that does not work is FC12, wireless with SSID broadcast disabled.
I can only assume that it is an issue with my USB modem (a linksys WUSB54GS) since the same set-up works fine from my laptop running Ubuntu with an internal wireless card.
Now, I know from reading the forums that it's pretty easy to get around a disabled SSID broadcast but this is an itch I just have to scratch....what the hell is causing this problem?

I have recently moved back to Linux as my primary desktop platform and have begun to use ssh keys for a lot of things. Logging into remote machines but also things like github, bitbucket, and a mercurial-server instance. The managing of my keys has become a little cumbersome. For example, I have the following OSs that I may use on any given day:
- Primary Linux Desktop
- Laptop w/ Windows 7
- Laptop w/ Linux
- Local Linux Server
- Production Linux Server
On each of those OSs, I have a user and from any of them I might need to pull code from a mercurial-server instance. That means I have to setup five "users" on the mercurial-server instance to give just one person (me) access from all locations. So, I was wondering what the best practice for this setup is. Can I use just one key pair for "me" and install the .pub key on all my systems? If I do that, then on most of those systems, the .pub key will be installed and also be in the authorized_keys file (i.e. I want to be able to login to the production server from my local linux box but also be able to login to mercurial-server from the production server), is that a problem?
Finally, I have been wondering about the wisdom in using the same public key for all services. For example, I currently use the same key to login to my production linux server as I use to login to bitbucket. If there was a malicious admin at bitbucket, or any third party I am using a key with, then they can get access to my user on my production system b/c they know my .pub key.
how I can have a TXT dns record having more than one key-value pair for the same domain (website.com, for example). The problem is that if I have two separate TXT records, only the first one gets returned when doing a dns query on it. I am using BIND 9. so, how can I place these two key-value pairs on one TXT record:
TXT "v=spf1 ip4:237.43.37.0/24 ip4:13.434.89.0/26 ip4:82.65.77.242 ~all"
and
TXT "google-site-verification=cadfasklfjasdfsdfJJDSDFSDfdska3kasfjsdf903"
in just one TXT record. When doing a query, this is what I get:

How can I set the outgoing port for the socket? In wireshark, my outgoing port is 1024, and i want to set it to 6800 (or a similar port) I see the outgoing broadcast-message in wireshark, but no answer. There are three ECU's in the LAN, which should answer. The following code is a mixture of C/C++ and jointed from different articles:
[code]...
In wireshark I can only see the outgoing message. But the "recvBuffer" (in the lower part of the code) contains the same content as the sendBuffer. Is it right, that I need a sender and further more a receiver? Or should I receive the broadcast-answer on the same socket on which I send the bc?

This is for giving presentations, when it is usually more useful to see the speaker's slides than their face.
All I have found so far is Ekiga, but as far as I can see it doesn't offer this facility. Something free would be nice of course, but paid-for software would also be of interest.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to connect my Debian Squeeze machine to my school wireless network with wpa_supplicant.
I think the network uses 802.1X authentication, because when the other students connects to the network for the first time in Windows they enter their username and password then the connection is established. I have asked the the IT staff but they do not known what 802.1X, PEAP EAP etc. is and just say "Enter the login details in the box!".
If I bring a Windows 7 machine to school and successful connects to the network, is it then possible for me to extract the information [and extract a certificate if used on the network] from Windows somehow so i can setup the wpa_supplicant.conf correctly on Debian?
The information I want to extract is which protocols are used, like PEAP,MSCHAP etc.
