I'm trying to install ffmpeg however I always get an error when I run ./configure. I know xvid is compelled into the dir below, this is the output from the xvid make install.
Then from the ffmpeg directory I run ./configure --prefix=/usr --libdir=/usr/local --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libxvid --enable-gpl --enable-shared ERROR: libxvid not found
I have a lot of avis with annoying metadata that show in vlc. Since I cannot figure out how to configure vlc in a way that it won't show the tags, ffmpeg should strip the tags. This is supposed to do the trick:
I found a tool made for Ubuntu called Xautoclick. I downloaded it and it is called "xautoclick-0.30.tar.gz" The installation notes say "tallatBe sure you have the proper development packages for your distribution installed (i.e. something like xserver-xorg-dev, gtk2-dev, et cetera). After that, run:
./configure make sudo make install" I have no clue what to do... I typed in "./configure" in the terminal and it says "bash: ./configure: No such file or directory?
I want to install a program from this website http:[url].... and i download the option " hydra-6.3-src.tar.gz".i tried following the instructions on this page: https:[url].... but when i get to the ./configure step it says "bash: ./configure: No such file or directory"
Just wondering if anyone else has this partial upgrade being offered to them: ffmpeg, libavdevice52, libpostproc51, libswscale0 are held back (grayed out) in Update Manager.
I only use Update Manager manager to see if there are any updates and then use sudo apt-get update, sudo apt-get-upgrade and sudo apt-get dist-upgrade to actually examine the updates as it shows if anything will be removed without anything to replace it.
And I know to never do a partial upgrade.
Update Manager displays "Partial Upgrade" with the files listed above grayed out.
I did use sudo apt-get-upgrade to install a few packages earlier that were safe to install and now -
sudo apt-get-upgrade currently gives this output:
Code: The following packages have been kept back: ffmpeg libavdevice52 libpostproc51 libswscale0 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 4 not upgraded
I have an assignment as follow. I have to install 2 versions of FFMPEG 0.6.1 and Alexander Strange on non default locations with all required dependencies and check the dependancies for each of these and make sure to install the required dependancies in the local folder of the app rather than at the system root.
The flags to set for the above must include --enable-mp3lame --enable-gpl --disable-vhook --disable-ffplay --disable-ffserver --enable-a52 --enable-xvid --enable-faac --enable-faad --enable-amr_nb --enable-pthreads --enable-x264
Now how to install them? and how to run them simultaneously? Do let me know if any other thing/info required.
Today I opened upgrade manager and found some updates grayed out. I could not click them so I went to synaptic to try and install them and got this error:

I tried to install ffmpeg for Firefox videodownloader addon but did some nasty damage. First of all, I followed this guide: [URL] I'm using Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick 32-bit version The installation froze after this: Quote: Unpacking replacement x11proto-core-dev ... Couldn't find anyone having the same issue on the net, so I just exited the terminal and then I couldn't do anything anymore. When I tried to install again (or remove) that thingy, i got this in console:
The problem is i unable to stream this kuraiamr_nb.mov file at my streaming server. when i play this file in quicktime player its stating that this is a unsupported media type.
I am looking for an option to convert .vob file to mp4 format. Command "ffmpeg -i S.vob x.mp4" is giving error message "[libfaac @ 01cac110] Unable to load libfaac.dll". I tried to convert in other formats like .avi with the same command and got success. Conversion is decreasing the quality like hell. Though size of the file after conversion is as big as original then why this bad quality. Some where I have read if I will not specify any argument it will keep the quality same but here it is not happening. Not sure why....

I wanna configure RAID 1 within TWO HDD in RHEL-5 during installation moment .I have the following questions regarding software raid vs hardware raid :
1) What is the basic difference between hardware and software raid
2) In software raid , If I use two HDD as RAID1 , then if one HDD is failed , can I boot it from another HDD ?
3)In software RAID , Between two HDD , If One HDD is failed then if I remove bad HDD and add a spare HDD then is it automatically synchronized with FIRST HDD ?
4) In software raid is it possible to keep '/boot' partition in two HDD (I use 2 HDD as RAID1) as separate partition ?
5) Finally is there any documnets or sites where I get software raid configuration during INSTALLATION moment in using GRAPHICAL mode , plz give me the address.
I've created some time-lapse videos from photos, using this command: ffmpeg -i IMG_%03d.JPG -s 1440x1080 -sameq video.MP4
And it worked great. Now I want to join several of these time-lapse videos to make a single, longer video (all the input videos have the exactly same format). I already tried using: cat video1.MP4 video2.MP4 > stitch.MP4
but the output ends up being equal to video1.MP4, I don't want to transcode nor changing any parameter of the video, I just want a end-to-end stitching, as if those videos were on a playlist.
i wanted to install ffmpeg with lame mp3 support.its procedure is as follows:

I use ffmpeg to convert my files, but when I do so, I lose the keyframes metadata from my flv files. The command I use right now is: $/usr/local/bin/ffmpeg -i %s -ab 96k -ar 44100 -b 500k -r 25 -f flv %sHow can I avoid ffmpeg to delete the keyframes info?
I am running a video script on my server and I am very new to running a dedicated server and commands. Most of our site was setup but other and someone has broke something and no one seems to know how to fix.
Here is the issue. We run a script that uses these requirements

Now our server guy ran a update inside webmin for debian and now our videos still convert but wont make thumbs. Here is what he did.
Now updating libsmbclient ..
Now the AVS script wont make thumbs and webmin still wants to do 3 more updates that get unmet dependencies errors. Here they are when we try to run another update.
Building complete list of updates ..
Now what we need to do is either undo the update he already did or maybe get the one its asking for now to work but not sure which one will fix our thumb generating problem? Here is the error in the log file of the AVS script.
(1)I got ffmpeg-checkout tarball dated 5 june 2010 . It was bigger than ffmpeg-export of same date but I noticed the binary ffmpeg & ffplay generated after './configure' & 'make' are same size.
(2)I am using ubuntu 8.04 with GNOME. I am able to compile ffmpeg with following options
[Code]....
Do I have to get tarballs (of libx264 & libtheora) & compile them .
