How do I turn off Pidgin notification balloons when a buddy logs on or off? I've looked through the application's preferences like 3 times; is there some sort of system control for notification balloons?

I would really like to get rid of those ugly GTK notifications in KDE, but the NM GUI doesn't seem to have an option for this?!
View 2 Replies View RelatedThere seems to have been a change in how you add buddies in Pidgin, since I last used Pidgin in Ubuntu. When I open the add buddy window in Pidgin I get the image attached. It allows me to "search" Personal or Ubuntu One from the drop down list, but nothing is ever populated in the main text area. Similarly, when I select a group from the drop down list in the lower right corner, it never selects it. Also when I click "New Person" it simply closes the window without ever adding a new buddy to my buddy list.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy icon displays at the bottom of the main pidgin window but but the icons for my contacts don't display any more. It used to display in the conversation window as well as on the themed menu button on the main window.
The disappearance happened on both Fed 13 and 14, both x86/64. I haven't checked the fed12 32 bit yet but I suspect recent updates are the culprit so I expect the Fed12 32bit to also be affected. (don't really use it much except as a "sacrificial" toy since it's due for obsoletion).
I expect a future update will fix it but I'm curious if anyone else has had this problem, and if it's a known issue, is there a current fix ?
pidgin-2.7.5-2. libpurple-2.7.5-2. I'm on 13 now i guess 14 versions are the same?
I just updated Fed12 32bit and got the saame pidgin version as 14 and 13. The icons are still present. I guess it wasn't an update problem.
Where can I see all the logs of all my chats on Pidgin? I have "Log all instant chats" and "Log all chats", but not "Log all status changes to system log"
View 2 Replies View RelatedI run Ubuntu with Unity. I see a Mail Notification applet in the tray that announces unread mail (from Evolution) and incoming IMs from Empathy. I uninstalled both programs, and replaced the IM program with Pidgin. (I don't have a preferred email client yet.)
Now Pidgin lets me know whether I have received new email messages from the services it is connected to. These notifications show up in the Buddy List window. Is there a way to get Pidgin to use the Mail Notification applet instead? I read in their site that "Pidgin was not designed to be an email client" but it would seem that all the pieces are in place to reroute those notifications to the mail notification applet.
Optionally, it would also be cool if when I clicked on those notifications, a browser window would open up to the webmail account the notification came from. (I have both Windows Live and Gmail accounts.)
Does anybody know how to get back Pidgin original icon(s) in Xubuntu 11.04 Notification area? I need it because I don't like that blue envelope in Indicator plugin, I would like to use it as "old fashion way".

I'm using pidgin on both, windows and linux on several pc. To sync my log, I use dropbox. For linux, it's easy. Just a matter of symlink. However, I don't know how to sync it on windows, without manual copy-paste once I'm done on windows.

How do I disable this for Pidgin? (The other notifications are fine but I want to disable it for Pidgin)

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running 10.10 Netbook Edition. I added Terminal Server Client to the Unity Menu and I typically run it in Full Screen mode to manage serveral windows based servers. The problem is that TSC displays perfect in full screen (unity tool bar hidden) but when i move the mouse over to the left side of the screen i get the pop-up text balloons from the unity below it. I cannot click on any items along the left edge of the remote desktop window including the windows start key. I want to confirm if this is a bug? and how to report it if so.

View 3 Replies View RelatedPreviously after doing aptitude upgrade, my pidgin seems broken with no gui shown. So I decided to download the latest source from pidgin website and build it from source, but I think I made situation worse because it then complained that ssl lib was needed. Then I removed the libpurple (e.g. aptitude purge libpurple0 libpurple-bin libpurple-dev) and reinstalled pidgin (aptitude install pidgin). Now it shows the error
pidgin: symbol lookup error: pidgin: undefined symbol: purple_media_element_info_get_type
I searched on the internet and can not find a solution. The clues on the internet says that's because the piding I use is the older version of libpurple. But I think I've removed all with purge and reinstalled it. Maybe some legacy binary is referenced. What or where it might be? Or where there may contain related information.
When I try to login as me - it gets pretty far but then something happens and automatically logs out. This happens in Gnome, Kde too. Now - I have no problem logging in a Root. Is there a way I can try to stop the login process before it kicks me out, or is there a way to look at some files to tell me what's going on?

well I install the printer, everything works perfectly.....but, when I turn off the PC, and turn it on again, the printer does NOT work!, I send work for being printed but mothing happens , Ubuntu tells me that the job was printed but ... no case, my printer does not print it.

I managed to get a list of legal names and email addresses out of the HR department, but I'd like to build my google address book as well as my pidgin buddy list.Pidgin buddy lists are in the format code...
I've tried to simply edit blist.xml, but the act of actually ADDING a buddy does more than simply stick them into your list, it actually performs a server action to do mutual authentication and stuff. So my question is: Is there a way I can run a script that will "add" all these people onto my buddy list without me having to type each email address and full name by hand?
