I have a Fujitsu Siemans Amilo A1630 installed with squeeze and am having problems making the headphone jack work with ALSA, there is no sound from this port and jack auto-detect does not work. All drivers are present and correct and necessary modules for my sound device appear to be loading properly, the device seems fully functional except for headphones.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy laptop's (Acer Travelmate P243-M-6456) headphone jack had been working fine, and has no issues when booted into Windows, but it suddenly stopped working.
I've gone through alsamixer, and the volume is up, and nothing seems to be muted, and I've tried to do everything I could throughout the sound options in the Gnome System Settings.
Here is my ALSA information script output : [URL] .....
I have ubuntu 11.04 dual boot with vista in a gateway laptop. The internal laptop speakers work fine, but anything I plug into the headphone jack does not work (I have headphones and speakers that I use through the headphone jack).
I've tried a ton of things like re-installing pulse, alsa mixer, making sure everything is turned up and NOT muted, and I can't get any sound.
EDIT: here is the alsa info script output...

UPDATE-SOLVED: Ok I finally found something that solved my issue. For any future gateway users that may read this -- try this fix here (I'm using an M model, the fix is for a T model, it worked anyway).

specifically to add this line to alsa.conf:
Code:
options snd-hda-intel model=eapd probe_mask=1 position_fix=1
you can open alsa.conf with this:
Code:
sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
i'm using jaunty jackalope ubuntu 9.04, my desktop speakers are working perfectly. NOw i wish to make my zebronics headphone work with it too. In windows my motherboard driver was from realtek.
i went to the volume control option and in that i see the following
Device: HDA NVidia (alsa mixer)
in the Switches tab the headphone is checked. I'm attaching the screenshots too here
I've Ubuntu 9.10 installed on my desktop dual boot with Windows 7. This is my motherboard. My motherboard has 6 slots for sound devices and I use a pair of speakers and my headphones together, so they all take up 3 slots, i.e. 1 for speaker, 1 for headphone output and 1 for headphone's mic. I'm able to listen from my headphone as well as speakers at any given point of time on Windows 7, but recently when I installed Ubuntu, it only gives audio output to my headphones, and not my speakers. How I can receive audio output on the speakers as well as headphones?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an Asus G60vx notebook and when I updated to 10.10 I lost audio through my headphones. The speakers work fine, just not the headphones. Normally I am able to sole these things on my own through searching forums and what not, but no solutions I have found work for me so far. Things I have tried:
1. Make sure the latest drivers are installed according to the above, then edit the file /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and add the following line:
options snd-hda-intel model=dell-laptop
Reboot and test. Other models to test are:
thinkpad
ideapad
hp_laptop
dell-vostro
olpc-xo-1_5
2. Checking on the alsamixer thru the terminal. Headphones is green, but there is only the 00 notch, like there is no volume to change.
3. Updating my alsa files via synaptics, my kernel model is 2.6.35-23-generic. There is no alsa drivers for this kernel that I can find yet, however I found this, Ubuntu supplied Linux modules for version 2.6.35 ALSA snapshots. Installed it still doesnt work.
After installing ubuntu 10.10 on my toshiba satellite L655D-S5050 I noticed the headphone port does not work, I've tried a number ways to get it working but they have all proved fruitless, also my built-in microphone does not work.

Just curious if someone could help me with my issue, I've noticed that my internal mic doesn't work, and when I plug in headphones it stops the use of the speakers but I hear nothing through the headphones. I'm running openSUSE 11.3 and have had almost no major problems until this. I've searched around and asked a couple friends and have made absolutely no progress.
View 8 Replies View RelatedIt worked fine with 8.04, although it wasn't as loud as it usually is with windows, but since I've updated its stopped working. When plugging the headphones in, a little sound comes through for a second when halfway plugged in, then nothing when fully plugged.
Any idea on how to fix this?
I just installed FC13 on my HP laptop and everything has been working great with one exception. When I plug in my headphones, it doesn't mute the speakers and there is no sound in the headphones. I've checked alsamixer and the gnome-volume-control and all necessary channels are unmuted and turned up. But I have no idea how to proceed. I'm afraid to make any configuration changes because I don't want to lose the sound completely. Here is the output from lspci

My headphone audio jack is not functioning properly. When I plug headphones in, the internal speakers go silent, but no audio is coming from the headphones.

I don't know why this happened, but now I can barely hear any sounds using my headphone. I haven't changed any of the alsa settings. Speakers work fine, very fine!
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy headphone jacks, both of them, do not work. When I plug headphones into either of them, the speakers cut out but no sound comes into the headphones. They work fine with my G1 phone so I know they aren't the problem. I had a different issue and was running 2.32.5blah-blah for a while and thought that was the problem.I'm on unstable -- if someone can tell me how to emit my kernel version I can c/p it into here but I'm a n00b. My first idea was to try some different model names when loading the snd_hda_intel module, but after checking the alsa documentation unfortunately i didn't found this particular codec in it. Then after a few hours of lmgtfy.com sessions came the enlightenment. I found something interesting which actually turned out to fix this problem. Here it is: [URL].

I cannot get sound out of the headphone port on a laptop. Headphones are plugged in, and sound comes out of the internal speakers. Windows behaves normally (sound switches to headphones when headphones are inserted).
It did work in Linux at one point, but something changed, we're just not sure what. Rebooting doesn't fix. This appears to occur whether or not PulseAudio is running. code...
This works in Windows: You plug headphones in, the internal speakers stop making noise, and noise comes out the head phones. Windows says I only have two sound cards: the HDMI port (which I don't care about) and the "sound card", which it claims is a "Conexant Pebble High Definition SmartAudio" In Windows, both the internal speakers and the headphone jack show up as one soundcard, which in my experience, is typical. (This is a laptop)
I bought a Media-Teach NEMESIS USB headphones. They work really great except there's this one button that lunches Windows Media Player on Windows but on Linux... it doesn't seem to do anything... So my question is, how do I assign a different task for this button on Linux? For example I want it to go to a website address.I guess I need to get what signal it sends thru usb to my system and then somehow manipulate it? Can this be done with a shell script or perhaps there's a tool/program available on Linux for this
