I have made a cluster between two server.
In luci I can see that my cluster is green and the two nodes to.
I have make an IP resource and associate it to a service : green : I can relocate the service from a node to the other one and the IP appears in the list of IP addresses
The problem is that I have made the same in order to configure tomcat and postgresql and it does not work...

I have just installed a two server cluster with ricci luci and conga on centos 5.6 32bit , both servers are vmware guests and have a shared storage disk connected to them both
with a GFS2 file system on them + fencing agents configured to work with VMware Vcenter.
(this is supported by vmware and works great on 4 other centos clusters i have been runing for 4 monthes with no CLVMD).
In this setup i used for the first time CLVMD as recommnded by RedHat so i could have the flexablitly of LVM under the GFS2 file system but , i have been getting some Strange problem with it , some times after a developer has done some IO heavy task like unziping a file or a simple TAR the load goes to 10 - 15 and no task can be killed , trying to reboot the server hangs.
After hard shutting the server every thing works ok until the next time some one does the same IO work as before.
i am using the redhat cluster suite (luci and ricci) on my centos 5.3. i have 2 nodes in a cluster. when i poweroff the first node on wich a vm service is running, the service switchtes to node2. so far, so good :) but when i restart node1 the service is not failback to node1! i have created a failover domain with both nodes and priorized whre node1 has prio1 and node2 has prio2.
This is my first post, and i have a question with the fence software for VMWare ESXi. The fence_vmware agent only works with ESX, and redhat (in you GIT repository) has submited a new agent called fence_vmware_ng that claims to work with ESXi. But the problem is that they do not specify the version that works with that. Anybody has test the fence_vmware_ng agent for VMWare ESXi 4.0 ?, i follow the instructions here: [URL]...and i can install the software, the API from VMWARE site, etc, but in the moment when i run the agent nothing happen, The agent connects to server, i see in logs, but the off-reboot-on operations not works. Only works status operations, that return the state of a virtual machine. I have CentOS 5.3 (fully today updated) with RHCS.
I am trying to build GFS2 cluster with 2 or 3 Fedora 14 nodes, but I've encountered some problems from the start. First luci does not work at all in Fedora 14. There is no luci_admin and even if I manage to start luci service, I get a blank white screen when I try to open it from the browser. I've googled a bit and found that I'd might be able to setup GFS if I manage to build cluster.conf manually and start the cluster suite, but I cannot find documentation on how to create cluster.conf anywhere. If anyone knows how to setup GFS2 without a cluster suite or how to configure cluster.conf.
I am working in a project that needs to set up an Apache Web Cluster. The cluster needs to be High-availability (HA) cluster and Load-balancing cluster. Someone mentioned the use of Red Hat Cluster Suite, but, honestly, I can't figure out how it works, I haven't been able to configure it correctly. The project currently have two nodes, but we need to support at least three nodes in the cluster.

I am using the Redhat Cluster Suite (luci and ricci) on my centos 5.4. i have 2 nodes in a cluster.I had clustered an apache server.The service is up end running and i can stop,start and switch on all two node.The problem is when i try to simulate a fault for one node.For example:The apache resource stay on the first cluster node.If i power off the first cluster node (not halt or init 0 but take off the eletric power off), the second cluster node not take the resource.With the clustat command, the service still running on the first node.But the service is down. The first node is dead.Only one the first node is join again the cluster the resource goes up on the second node.
I have weird problem with postgresql + nginx + php5 0 ubuntu 11.04. Postgresql works just fine, when I run "php test.php" from shell. I assume php runs from shell are called cgi runs? When I open page from browser [URL]... I get following error. I assume php runs from browser are called cgi runs? Fatal error: Call to undefined function pg_connect() in /var/www/mydomain/htdocs/test.php on line 7 When you print php info, only reference to postgresql is pgsql.ini and pdo_pgsql.ini files that are parsed.

We've been having lots of problems with burning CD-Rs on our Dell PowerEdge and T300 servers. We've had the CD recorders replaced frequently, and that often fixes the problem, but then we'll start having problems again. Usually it is the CD refuses to write, or it gets written but can't be read. Often, if I re-run the burn with the same blank CD, it will be fine.
I'd like to test some CD-Rs and compare error rates so I can recommend what CD-R media we should be using. Currently we are using Memorex and Verbatim CD-Rs. Is there a good cd recording/testing suite for Linux that I could use to do this?
I was wondering if and how it would be possible to put together a sort of Home "cluster" system. pecifically, I wanted to make it so I would have a central server and a few computers, where the central server holds the home folders and settings of each user, and each user can log in to any of the computers using a standardized login (into the server), where anyone could log in with their account on any of the few computers - and their home folder (Desktop, Documents, Music, etc) would automatically be there.
Also if possible, would there be some way to centralize the applications that show up on each "client"?
We are having a cluster with couple of disk servers, compute nodes and a head node. Disk server is nfs mounted on all the compute and head nodes. The problem is that if any of the disk servers hangs, it freezes rest of the cluster too which is dangerous. Ideally, cluster should not care about the hanged server and run without any problem except files from that server is not visible. Is there any way I could avoid the problem of freezing cluster because of one hanged server?
well sorry I'm new in this but I just made my cluster with about 4 good machines each with 2 or more gbs of memory and dual-core processor but the question is i can install an operating system in nodes as having the frontend or not different if possible, and how i can do it because i don't now how and i don't find material and tutorials that can help me..
I am having trouble installing postgresql on my CentOS virtual machine. I am trying to compile from source by following this tutorial:[URL]..Here's the output and the commands that I have used thus far:

In my CentOS 5.4 installation i configure it as a server GUI and click the updates box and go to the configure now option and click the internet box but it just says getting packages or something like that and i never does.
I am using the Fedora 13 Live USB on my Gateway MT6451 laptop. All the major things you want to work on a laptop with linux actually work! Even my Broadcom wireless card! But even though I can see wireless networks and connect to ones that are open with no problem, I can't actually connect to my Hidden WPA2 network. I put all the information in and it connects, shows a good signal, but doesn't acquire the correct IP. I have a 192.168.X.X address range on my network, but it shows a 10.X.X.X ip and no Gateway address.
If I can get this one thing working I will definitely be installing Fedora.
Originally after an installation of openSUSE 11.4, I had no internet connection at all, even when connecting with ethernet cable. But then I tried switching back to YaST and then back to Network Manager, and restarted a couple times, and now I have internet connection. DNS is also working, for Ping. The problem is that firefox does not use DNS and cannot resolve host names. I can use Firefox with IP numbers.
When i turn on my computer and log in i get a notification that says "Phonon: KDE's Multimedia Library -- The audio playback device HDA Intel (ALC880 Analog) does not work." and the system falls back to pulse audio.
Also, i noticed that if i wake my computer from hibernation then the HDA Intel device will begin working again.
I read through the comprehensive sound guide with no luck, this behavior seems very strange to me and im not sure what is causing it. I would much rather use the HDA Intel sound device than Pulse Audio.
I'm having a very strange problem with red hat cluster. After testing it in the lab, I tried to install a new cluster and received the following error: cman not started: Cannot start, cluster name is too long or other CCS error /usr/sbin/cman_tool: aisexec daemon didn't start I've checked the internet for that error, but nothing. I decided to to take the example from cluster.conf man, which looks like that :

And still I get the same error. I can find my servers both from DNS (FQDN and short name) and they also appear in /etc/hosts.
i'm a familiar with Linux environement ( fedora 10 user ) and i got a project in a training where i have to create a cluster with two nodes where i have to set up a number of VMs that will run applications such as ( Samba, Ldap, Zimbra, ...) but i don't know how to virtualize on top of a cluster ! i would like to know how that can be done, and how is it possible to let the VMs get ressources ( RAM & CPU ) from the two nodes ??
I saw in CentOs Documentation that the only Tomcat package available in CentOs 5 was Tomcat 5, I would like to know why CentOs 5 didn't support Tomcat 6. And what's more I would like to know whether last version of Tomcat (6.0.18) can be installed on CentOs 5, and if we can trust installation tutorial we can read on centOs How 2 page? And in addition, could you tell me why Tomcat 6 isn't provided in CentOs Yum repository ... Is there a no working reason?

I have installed Tomcat 5.5 on a server with Centos 5.2. I can start Tomcat from command line with:
/var/lib/tomcat5/bin/catalina.sh start but if I add the command to /etc/rc.local Tomcat don't start on boot, I need to login and manually start. I have add other services to the /etc/rc.local file (mysql and apache) and all start with no problem. Only Tomcat failed to start on boot.
I added the JAVA_HOME to /root/.bashrc: export JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jdk export PATH=$JAVA_HOME/bin:$PATH export CATALINA_HOME=/var/lib/tomcat5 export CATALINA_BASE=/var/lib/tomcat5

I just got Ubuntu and am new at this stuff. I have a dual boot windows 7 64 bit one and ubuntu 10.4. I booted ubuntu at startup and then tried to go online, but it says my wireless device is disabled. I tried pressing the keys on my keyboard to see if that may work, but it doesn't. I am lost and new at this.
I've got a strange problem where my java is installed into firefox (v3.6.3) and firefox confirms this in about:plugins but when I go to a page that has a java applet, I get a blank page. oh I'm on openSuSe 11.x 32-bit (I know a lot of people have had trouble with this on 64-bit version).
previously I was getting errors about the plugin not being installed. so I installed java v1.6.0_15 using yast and then i created a symlink to libnpjp2.so in the firefox plugins dir: lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 58 Apr 6 12:27 libnpjp2.so -> /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.6.0-sun-1.6.0/jre/lib/i386/libnpjp2.so*

I can try a combination of downgrading versions of firefox and java but would rather only do that as a last resort.
What I did not realize was, that DLM uses the external Ethernet Interface even when talking to the local machine/node. So iptables was blocking my DLM daemon. With iptables down or the TCP port for DLM opened, cman starts, mount works.What I have here is a fibrechannel SAN which will be directly attached to several servers in the near future. Thise servers should be enabled access to a single filesystem on the SAN (shared).I heard that the right filesystem choice for this kind of setup would be GFS, because it has a Distributed Lock Manager and one FS journal for each node.
But I am having trouble setting up GFS. I have managed to create a GFS on a small testvolume (local HDD so far), but am unable to mount it. It seems that GFS/DLM needs a lot of cluster services to run, which I do not all understand / know how to correctly setup. Also: Will the lock_dlm stuff need Ethernet communications to handle file locks? And if so, will it fetch the node list from /etc/cluster/cluster.conf to determine who to talk to?
