Programming :: Bash - Read Content Of File To Variable And Use This Variable In For Loop ?

Aug 21, 2009

I'm trying to read content of file to variable and use this variable in for loop. The problem is, when I have c++ comment style in file - /*. Spaces in line are also interpreted as separated lines.

For example:

Code:

Changing $files to "$files" eliminate these problems but causes that whole content of variable is treated as one string (one execution of loop).

Red Hat / Fedora :: Bash Script To Monitor Server Load / Mail From Command Line

May 4, 2010

I am attempting to write a very basic script that monitors a server's load and automatically emails an administrator upon the load reaching a certain threshold...

1.) `uptime | awk -F ' ' {'print $10'} | cut -d ',' -f1 | awk -F '.' {'print $1'}` -- the output from this command results in a decimal figure, so when that value is parsed and placed in an if statement, the value is not seen as a number. load-monitor.sh: line 9: [: 4.96: integer expression expected/How can I allow a number like "4.56" to be seen as an actual number within the if statement and be compared to 4, for instance?

2.) I am running a cPanel server on CentOS 5.4 -- when I run mail -s "SUBJECT" $EMAILADDRESS the command just hangs, and stracing the process shows it stuck on a read syscall.

3.) If I wanted to write this script in PHP, I have one primary confusion -- how can I mimic the functionality of obtaining the output from uptime via awk, etc. so that I can determine what the server load is at a given time? Which PHP function(s) would assist in that regard?

Need help on how the scsi and multipathing works in Linux. From the docs i have read, i understand that by the use of multipathing we can assign multiple paths to a SAN partition. For e.g. I have a HP Proliant server on which we have the following mounts:

/dev/cciss/c0d0p3 59G 11G 46G 20% /

Server :: Defining Persistent Device Naming On A Debian Lenny?

I have a problem defining persistent device naming on a Debian Lenny server.I have:RAID1 controller on the server machine with two SCSI disks.external storage with RAID5. I have / mount on the first partition on the server SCSI disk and /storage mount on the external storage. I'm experiencing a problem: The system recognizes the system disk (RAID 1), as sda or sdb randomly.I want: To control the recognition, and tell the system that sda (sda1) will always be the system disk. The motivation: GRUB is configured to work with sda, and when the system disk doesn't, boot process fails, and I end up in the initramfs shell-like interface.

Code:

mount:mounting /sys on /root/sys failed: No such file or directory
