General :: Android Version / Web Browser That Works Best With Flash?
Apr 2, 2011
I am using Android 2.1 froyo. I also installed adobe flash player 10.2 from the Android Market place. The default web browser on the tablet seems to crash when I it encounters flash that is multimedia like audio and video. It's funny how flash works great with linux distributions and not well in android. Does anyone know which version of android and/or web browser works best with flash so the crashes are minimal.

I'm noticing some sites I go to work flawlessly in version 9, but flicker with version 10.Other sitese work great with version 10, and some sites need version 10, like Fancast and Hulu. Is it possible to have separate browsers, for example Firefox running version 9, and Chromium running 10?

I am using a simple javascript to connect my flv streams with Red5 (streaming server) every thing is working perfectly fine in Mozilla and Chrome.
But when it comes to IE it simply wont load the player.
Here is my script code...
How do I detect the client browser and redirect him to adobe flash upgrade page if the client browser does not have a supported player?

A researcher at security firm Alert Logic has published code that could be used to compromise some versions of Google's Android Operating System. The exploit, if properly adapted, could make Android phones vulnerable to remote attacks and compromises.

We just set up a vpn & samba server and are running into this problem.
we can log into the vpn and can ssh, http, ftp in the various servers on the internal network. however when trying to view Samba/Windows shares over any windows machine, they fail to connect. BUT we can vpn in on any android device and using a samba app view the Samba & Windows shares on any server we try.
If im logged in the network internally, there does not seem to be a problem. Only if we VPN in from the outside.

A friend has an Android smartphone - LG GT45 I think - it's currently using Android version 1.6 and she wants to update to 2.1 or whatever. But she doesn't own a computer. I only use Ubuntu, but I also have XP as a VirtualBox guest. I've installed the LG updating program, and it works fine through the handset verification stage, downloads the software; but when we get to the install stage it will only get to 4% on its progress bar then stops there. We wait and wait, it doesn't get any further, then eventually my virtual XP just freezes up.

Did anybody tried installing the latest adobe flash named Square for amd64 systems? I was interested in knowing whether there is any improvement in the performance. I also want to know how to replace my existing 32 bit wrapper based flash on 64 bit browser and install this 64 bit flash.

The thing is that flash sucks for linux on 64-bit, performance vice. Due to this I actually download every clip to a temp folder and play the file while it's being downloaded with mplayer. This works really nice. Flash is not to play a video. Does there exist a plugin for this for any browser? I tried google, but I can't find the right words to search for. Edit: I did find a plugin for playing wmp things, that is not what I'm asking for!

So, here comes the problem - I installed Google Chrome browser after that, and whenever I try to view flash content it says "missing plugin".

I am using Fedora 14 right now and i can't figure out how to put in adobe flash player into the plugin repositories of the browser.
Does anyone know how to get it working so I can view ..... videos and or any other media file? Maybe step by step from the start? I downloaded adobe flash player version 10.2.159.1 all ready. I don't know if I should uninstall it then reinstall... Well enough of my rambling I'll let the veteran users have the final say.

All get is a small rectangle of video on the bottom left hand side of the video box (which is otherwise grey).

I've installed chromium on Linux from a custom binary on the net. When I try to get to gmail or any other site that uses flash, chromium warns me that the version of flash that is shipped with the browser is stale and that I should be using the latest version and pointing to an adobe site.the adobe site gives me 3 options
1) yum
2) RPM
3) tar.gz
4) APT for ubuntu
since I'm on redhat, I can use either yum or RPM.Which one should I use and what is the command to install it so that chromium can use it.

I'm using Ubuntu 11.04. I'm searching for an automated way of installing the latest version of Flash for Firefox. We are using our machine as a testing server and it would be nice to be assured we always have the latest version of Flash instead of having to manually update it whenever Adobe comes out with an incremental update.

This is my first post and I'm just starting to use Ubuntu again. I currently have 11.04 installed. So my friend and I are trying to voice chat using Google Talk. He is using Windows XP and is going through his web browser. If I use Empathy or Pidgin I can call him and he can hear me speak but I can't hear him. When he calls me, I get no notification from Pidgin, and from Empathy it rings and when I pick up I get nothing. It works perfectly fine for both of us if I also go through my browser. Hopefully someone can help with this or perhaps have another voice chat client we could use? For example, MSN is suppose to work with Empathy. If so, would we have fewer problems using that?
On a side note I always wanted to know when you guys give terminal commands on here do you have them memorized or do you copy and paste?! I'm such a noob when it comes to Linux and can't count the times Ubuntu has made me feel so dumb!

Originally after an installation of openSUSE 11.4, I had no internet connection at all, even when connecting with ethernet cable. But then I tried switching back to YaST and then back to Network Manager, and restarted a couple times, and now I have internet connection. DNS is also working, for Ping. The problem is that firefox does not use DNS and cannot resolve host names. I can use Firefox with IP numbers.

I am studying how to use Linux now on some websites and playing with an older desktop. I am anxious to give it a try! I am looking for an Linux program to help me with the following situation:
I send emails from my office computer, my dormitory computer, my home computer, my android phone and my symbian phone. Right now I use webmail but i want to be able to compose the emails in an offline mode and then send them at a later time. Now, I use thunderbird on my home computer to download all of the emails from my webmail account.
I want to be able to compose the email on the email clients installed on the various computing devices yet be able to consolidate not only the emails received but also the sent folders. I think what I am looking for is a Linux version of MSExchange. Is this correct? Can someone recommend one? I also want to be able to consolidate calendaring features and addressbooks as well.

i've noticed lately that when scrolling, the video "tears" and moves along with my scrolling on sites such as videos, when it should be fixed in position. note that it doesn't actually move perfectly and is flickery/cropped while scrolling. i have all the latest updates (10.10) and notice it in both chromium and firefox, so it's either the window manager or ati driver.
