i've noticed lately that when scrolling, the video "tears" and moves along with my scrolling on sites such as videos, when it should be fixed in position. note that it doesn't actually move perfectly and is flickery/cropped while scrolling. i have all the latest updates (10.10) and notice it in both chromium and firefox, so it's either the window manager or ati driver.

It tears or shears badly, although is still usable. No tearing is obvious on computer TV like TvTime. 10.0.32.18 is the flashplayer version. Debian Lenny backport .30.
Should vsync be enabled or something? Do not know if it's enabled at the moment. How is this done?
Whenever I'm browsing the web on one of my natty machines, I'm subject to periodic reboots that leave nothing in the syslog. Here's the two constants I've discovered thus far.
It only happens when I'm using a browser (plugin?).
It doesn't matter whether I'm in Chromium or Firefox.
It doesn't matter whether I use Unity or Gnome 2.
This happens every 2-3 days from what I can tell.
This problem is not power related because I've tested it with and without an UPS present.
The computer does a full reboot without any shutdown procedure.
The configuration of this computer is as follows:

I'm only relatively new to ubuntu and am having a problem with firefox. There was an update waiting for me this morning to install some dummy package and since I've done that firefox falls down whenever I try to go to a page that requires flash. The screen turns grey and nothing happens.
With my limited knowledge (and inability to use any page that requires flash) I've tried to remove and re-install flash but nothing I do seems to work
So this just started a few days ago... maybe 7 at the most.
I am working along, and screen goes black, or just freezes... the lights on my laptop start blinking and becomes everything becomes unresponsive.
I have noticed it is usually when I am Using Firefox and Flash content. I have also noticed it happens when using Deluge, but it usually takes 5 minutes to kick in.
I am using firefox at the moment, but I am sure if I load up a ..... video, it will lock up on me again.
Did anybody tried installing the latest adobe flash named Square for amd64 systems? I was interested in knowing whether there is any improvement in the performance. I also want to know how to replace my existing 32 bit wrapper based flash on 64 bit browser and install this 64 bit flash.

View 2 Replies View Relatedi have ubuntu 10 lts and have searched the forums and internet yet not resolved this issue so hope i`ve posted in the right place. i have installed, via the ubuntu software manager, the latest adobe flash as every browser i try crashes within at most ten minutes of trying to play a flash video full screen, usually within four minutes. i cannot play anything on bbc iplayer or videos fullscreen and i have no idea why. i have the latest flash plugin and have tried chromium, midori, firefox, opera, conkerer (not konqueror) and epiphany and every one crashes. tried firefox in safe mode and it still happens, opera just stops playing the video but all the other browsers crash except chromium which tells me the flash plugin stopped working. i really need it working and don`t want to have to return to windows just for flash so has any one an idea where i can start in solving it?

The image freezes, and the audio track loops, with a loop length of around 0.5 seconds. The only thing I can is reboot my computer. The xorg log file contains no indication that something went wrong. The last entries in it are the monitor display modes.
I cannot switch to the open source ATI driver, as my monitor screen goes blank after booting.I have tried a fresh system install, but that hasn't worked either.

Every once in a while, clicking the fullscreen icon on a Flash video will result in the video playback overlay appearing behind the actual browser requiring the browser to be minimised to see the video. I bought a netbook (VPC) which is basic netbook with limited features. It has a basic version of Linux (Linux 2.6.24 platform). My instruction booklet says it does not support Flash (player): Flash - The current browser does not support any Flash players. This will prevent viewing some web pages. Certain major websites have a simplified version on the server which will load up. When I try to play games in flash, it does not work either. Browsing on the web also is very limited, I only see mobile (cell phone) versions? (the instruction booklet does state this though) I cannot even put favorites? Is there a way that I can get Flash installed or a better browser? So I can play games that are on Facebook, etc.? and view websites like a "normal" human being should be viewing them on the web?

I recently purchased a new laptop and installed Slackware64 13.1, it works fine, but I have no Flash in my browsers. I had downloaded and installed Google Chrome, took some work, but got it working, only no Flash support. Believing this to be a problem with Chrome, I tried in FireFox, and again, no Flash support. I downloaded Opera, the same, Konqueror, ditto. I downloaded the latest Flash, (Just the libflashplayer.so in the package, isn't that a little weird?) and put it in /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins and tried Firefox again, no luck. I downloaded the latest version, installed it, but it keeps saying "firefox-bin: no such file or directory" even though it is clearly there. There is something not quite right here, and I can't seem to figure it out.

What is the minimum computer spec for playing 1080p flash files via a web browser smoothly at least 25fps? We all know that flash is not very good on Linux. On my old computer, I can play 720p flash files in the browser at arount 25fps on Windows, but on Ubuntu on the same computer via dual OS installation, it struggles to play 420p flash files in the browser. So basically, I want to build a new computer and have Ubuntu as the only OS, but this computer needs to be able to play 1080p flash files via the browser (not by downloading and converting them), but straight from the browser smoothly. Is this possible and what would the minimum computer spec need to be to achieve this?

I am using 11.4 with Gnome3 and multimedia pack.When playing flash videos in the browser if I click fullscreen, the video plays full screen behind the browser window. It does not happen always and it has not happened with ..... yet.

Due to this I actually download every clip to a temp folder and play the file while it's being downloaded with mplayer. This works really nice. Flash is not to play a video. Does there exist a plugin for this for any browser? I tried google, but I can't find the right words to search for. Edit: I did find a plugin for playing wmp things, that is not what I'm asking for!

The default web browser on the tablet seems to crash when I it encounters flash that is multimedia like audio and video. It's funny how flash works great with linux distributions and not well in android. Does anyone know which version of android and/or web browser works best with flash so the crashes are minimal.

The kicker is I can't recall ever installing flash support in the first place.
I'm bitterly regretting the upgrade to 8.2. It's just one damn thing after another.
I can't get Gnome's Web(browser) (ver 3.4.2) working with flash. I see only a kind of blue box, when I click on it, audio playback starts but not video. I tried this on two machines, one with Intel graphics, second with radeon.
