I am using Firefox 184.108.40.206 and Opera. Both the browsers can open all sites except secure sites like, URL>..In Firefox I have checked SSL3.0 and TLS1.0.The default Enforcing mode of the OS I have set to 'Permissive'.
I've recently installed openSUSE 11.4 (64 bit) on my system and am experiencing severe performance issues with websites using https (any site using https). Page loads over https take anywhere between 30 seconds to 2 minutes. It's the same issue posted here Secure sites load slow or not at all -- there was no confirmed solution.
- My router/hardware configuration has not changed in a long time and I've run Ubuntu, Arch Linux, and Windows XP on the same machine within the last year and have not had any issues. - I also have a laptop running Arch Linux (kernel 2.6.38) and this problem does not occur using Firefox 4 or Chrome. To add to the madness this problem occurs while running Firefox 4 inside a Windows 7 guest via virtual box, but NOT while running IE 8 inside the same guest. - This issue occurs using Firefox 4, Chromium, Opera, Konqueror, and Arora. - I've disabled ipv6 in Firefox via about:config. - I've disabled ipv6 in yast and have attempted to use both the "ifup" and "networkmanager" options. - I am not using a proxy server. - I've attempted the fix posted in the Ubuntu forums for a similar problem [ubuntu] [SOLVED] Banking Site is very slow.
I'm going to be setting up our company with a in office server in the next few days. I wanted to use ubuntu as my servers OS but after reading some of the documentations I come to realize there is no X server in the server OS. I am OK with doing everything in terminal but would prefer to do some things in a graphic interface. Am I able to install the Xfree86 and be able to configure some stuff through that? Also the machine I am building for the server is not a true server machine just a really fast computer with lots of memory and space. The specs are a 3.1 AMD 64bit processor, 16gig ram, 2x 1TB hdd 7200rpm sata.
If the X server isn't a possibility on the server OS, I have read you can install all the server repositories on the Desktop Editions. Would that be a better option for me? Here is what I would like the server to do. I am going to be running quick books on the server with 1 workstation that is dedicated to it. We have 3 workstations and 3 users. We also would like to implement a Shared filing system and print server. Eventually when our current contract with our web host expires we would like to migrate the base website (not the ecom side) to this server.
After securing webmin on my web server, with a custom SSL connection.I wanted to do the same with phpMyAdmin. But I am unsure of where to look for the best tutorial(s) to do this, can anyone help?Plus I saw once at work our network tech adding in accounts but then allocating that to the login itself. For example, when your brought up with a .htaccess prompt in the browser, thats assigned to you login within phpMyAdmin, taken from the db server no doubt, is it possible to do this?Should there be anything else I need to know in securing mysql?I have limited all services to a set number of IPs so non of its publically functional at the moment so I can take as long as possible, but naturally I'd like to be able to be as speedy as possible about getting this sorted.
I just installed FC12 x86_64. After a clean install I found that httpd, mysql, svn, svnadmin, etc are already installed. I still need to install and configure tomcat running as a worker behind httpd and configure everything. But my question is about security. What do I need to do to ensure that when I start httpd and mysql that they are secure? Are there default settings that I need to change? Are there security patches I need to apply?

I am trying to install guest additions on Oracle Enterprise Linux Update 5. Whenever I try to the run VBoxLinuxAdditions-x86.run script I get the following problem:
erifying archive integrity. All good. Uncompressing VirtualBox 2.0.0 Guest Additions for Linux installation. VirtualBox 3.0.6 Guest Additions installation install the build and header files for your current Linux kernel. The current kernel version is 2.6.18-164.el5PAE Problems were found which would prevent the Guest Additions from installing. correct these problems and try again. I also tried yum install using the following commands without any luck:
yum install kernel-devel kernel-headers-`uname -r` Following are the package information of my kernel-devel and headers: > rpm -q kernel-devel kernel-devel-2.6.18-164.el5 > rpm -q kernel-headers kernel-headers-2.6.18-164.el5
I have been spending a couple of hours already on how to fix this but I still couldnt get to install this.
I newing to utilize linux I want to ask I install redhat enterprise 4 4 on laptop acer aspire 4736, and all hadware I am not detected comprise wifi card and lan card. how detects my hadware that? one again of making ad-hoc at ubuntu 7.10
I dual boot XP and FC14 and have 2 routers. I can connect and ping one of these routers when I'm in FC and I have an IP address I just can't load any websites. When I connect to the other router (my main router) it works fine. When I boot into XP and connect to the problem router I can load pages fine. It's only when I'm on FC14 and connect to the problem router that I can't load pages even though I have an IP and can ping around.
I need to somehow do a yum installation (or equivalent of) on a system that is offline with no access to the internet. (I do have access to another Linux system that has internet access, but the Linux installations on both systems have different packages installed and enabled.)
Let's say the command to enter is 'yum install pkg1 pkg2 pkg3' (the documentation for some applications I need indicate the installation instructions this way, and not as the actual RPMs I need). Is there a way for me to run that on my offline system?
e.g. one way I can think of is to run that command on the online system, somehow if possible take note of what RPMs get installed, then transfer them to the offline system via USB and install all the RPMs via rpm command.
The problem with my above idea is that the two systems have different packages enabled, so even if yum on the online system shows a few dependencies being downloaded, I could run download and install all these RPMs and their dependencies on the offline system only to find several more missing dependencies, and dependencies of those dependencies.
I have read just about every page about the UEC project, and I now know everything about it, except... WHAT IT DOES! I can't seem to find a coherent example of what it does. To the best of my understanding, it runs a virtual machine across multiple servers. Allowing the VM to use the RAM, CPU, and HDD resourced on all servers involved.
Webmin running two websites from one server, i've made a second virtual server for my second site including its own document root with it's own index.html file ,but for some odd reason they both run the same site. And i use a Static ip address.
I have a custom made rpm. I need to install my particular RPM in a list of rpms which are part of a program. Say I have around 20 patch rpms which needs to be installed I need to install this through yum command. My particular RPM namely Patch-list.220.127.116.11-1.noarch.rpm needs to be installed as the first rpm in the total list of 21 rpms. I can modify my spec files and Makefiles as per my wish. what needs to be changed so that my rpm Patch-list.18.104.22.168-1.noarch.rpm will be installed first.
In the past week or so I've noticed some weird network behaviour. I find accessing some sites such as Amazon, Paypal, and Bigstockphoto really slow. Sometimes the page will not load at all. Other sites are fine. The problem sites are not a problem for others on my LAN at home. When I try to open the problem sites, I can see in Firestarter blocked connections coming from 2.1(8/9).xxx.xxx on various ports such as 36007. This only happens for the problem sites. I attached a typical output from firestarter.
This happens with Firfeox or Chrome. Using Ubuntu 10.10
I've been trying for awhile to install the restricted formats, but when in the download & and install process, YaST2 pops up saying that such and such RPM has failed. I hit ignore, and it happens again and again to all the other packages, bar the odd few that work.
how is it possible to serve multiple sites hosted in my computer with apache through dyndns.I am using ubuntu 10.04 and i had setup a dyndns domain as of mydomain.homelinux.org/127.0.1.1 medic. Now when i go to mydomain. homelinux.org outside of my lan i see the default site of apache.
What I want to do now is make nicmatthew.co.cc point to /var/www/nicmatthew/html and make rielworld.co.cc point to /var/www/jimriel/html. I have created the apache vHosts nicmatthew.co.cc and rielworld.co.cc containing this:
Recently I've been earning money doing web development, php, html/css, MySQL and so on. What I have encountered a lot are clients that need a complete solution. They need their site built, but they also need a hosting solution. I've sent more than just a few clients off to GoDaddy, and quite frankly, I'd like to cash in on some of that.
It would do wonders for my business if I could offer them a hosting solution with full support on top of building their site. My problem is I have no idea how to do this. So I'd like to know how I can host multiple sites on the same server. Does anyone know of a nice guide I can follow to set this up? It's really important that I can add sites fairly easily over the internet. Since I will be away at school, I won't have direct access to the server
