In my Downloads folder I have a message that says "Personal File Sharing You can receiee files over Bluetooth into this folder"I can't figure out how to get that to go away.

If I go to system - preferences - personal file sharing, I cannot select "share files over the network." The panel is greyed out and the message "This feature cannot be enabled because the required packages are not installed on your computer" is shown
It ever so usefully doesn't tell me what those packages are though! - It'd be nice to have more useful error messages or the ability to click to install them...
Anyway, what do I have to do to get this going again?! I've installed everything to do with samba, webdav that I can find but still no cigar...
My wife and I activated the 'Personal File Sharing' on our two Fedora #9 laptops. We can exchange photos and text files via our "public" folders, just fine. Entire setup took less than 20 minutes. We have not been able to get the Fedora #14 version of 'Personal File Sharing' to work using same, online and 'in system', help directions for both the F#9 and F#14. After four eves of looking I have not found any more detailed, install/activate help files anywhere. I can't ask my system manager because that's us. At this point the only thing I can think of is that there may be some part of the F#14 security structure that needs to be addressed and tweaked.

Then I put some files that I wanted to share in the Public folder and I went to another computer that was on the same router (they are both running Fedora 13) and I clicked on the Network tab (bookmark) in nautilus and there are no files there.

I just installed the beta 10.04 LTS with Gnome Version: 2.29.92. I want to to create a network share but when I navigate to system>preferences>personal file sharing I can not create a share. The message indicates that the feature is not available because the required package is not installed. I tried to reinstall gnome-user-share and in reinstalled without issue but I still get the same thing. What am I missing? How can I create a network share?

Nowadays bluetooth more less works fine, I can send and receive single file to/from my phone (nokia n70)
The hell begin when I try to browse my phone files from konqueror...with bluetooth:/ I can see the list of all the device near me with sdp://[address]/ i can see two icons (obex file transfer & obex object push)
but I cant see or access to any file or folder into the phone.
I also try to update my bluez-utils to 4.60-1~bpo50+1 but in this case kbluetooth totally fail and a see the contextual menu of the system tray icon all disaled.
1. I use RHEL5 (SERVER X) in which samba is running. This is an IBM hardware on which the vender is not allowing me to install any hardware other than IBM parts.
2. I have another P4 system on which Fedora Core 11 (SERVER Y) is running. I had connected 300GB SCSI HDD and created necessary partitions.
Now I want to mount few of the volumes of SERVER Y on SERVER X and allow users (samba clients) to access the volumes as folders as any other volumes in SERVER X through samba. I mounted one volume of SERVER Y in SERVER X using NFS mounting and shared through samba. The problem, I am facing, is it is very slow.
When I install Fedora 12, I tried to use manual partition like before. But installation failed somewhere. So I have to accept Fedora 12's default partition. Once I experienced slow login problem. I have to reinstall. But the reinstallation would delete the previous installation. Is there a good way to keep personal files intact on reinstallation?

I have ubuntu 10.04.1 and a H.P.psc 1311 all-in-one printer scanner.Printer works ok but when trying to scan,with xsane,it goes through the scanning process and an image of the document comes up on the screen.
When I try to save this image to desktop or file/folder whatever I get the message; "Child Process Error. Failed to execute OCR command:GOCR:no such file or directory."
how difficult it would be to set up a specific folder on my box that I can treat as my own personal dropbox. That way I can access the folder and whatever is inside of it by hitting my external IP, or domain, etc. It'd also be nice to upload to that specific folder on my box too. I recently got my D-Link DWA-556 pci card working with my new desktop with Ubuntu 10.04 64-bit. Connection speed is good, but local network file transfer speeds are pitiful. I'm trying to copy some files from my laptop(also running 10.04) and I'm getting around 300-500 kb/s, which is actually lower than my typical download speeds. Has anyone ever shared a network connection with another computer using Ubuntu/Linux? I have got a connection to the Local Area Network of my organization, but the problem is, it is only one. I have a laptop and I requested a connection for it, too. But the request was denied and one of the techs at IT department tipped me that I could create my own PAN on which my computer (which is a client on the organization LAN) would act as a server for my PAN and my laptop can access Internet if you choose to share your Internet access over the PAN...
I have no idea about networking and stuff. And that fella was too busy to lemme know how to set up this whole thing. Besides, he is a Microsoft Expert, probably never touched Linux. The situation gets worse... I don't wanna spend money on a Wi-Fi router. Instead, I could use the built-in Bluetooth module on my laptop with another Bluetooth Blip which is connected to my computer on USB port. I know people do that fairly commonly over Windows, since I have googled and found many posts regarding sharing an Internet connection through a Bluetooth connection with another computer.
