View 2 RepliesEll, I installed this application (MobileMediaCconverter_1.6.1_i386) successfully and I converted some files to avi format without a problem. One other day, I wanted to convert other files like what i did last time. I was surprised with this message

View 14 Replies View RelatedI've recent begun to want to create a spin of Fedora for my high school to offer as an alternative to Mac OS X and Windows. My first attempt with any distro was to try and use Suse Studio, however nothing with packages that I downloaded myself would successfully compile. I then thought that I might try and use some sort of local program do create it with and tried Revisor, however when I made Live Media, Xorg wouldn't start and when I made DVD Install Media the kernel would kernel panic every time on boot.
Is there anyway to solve the problem with Revisor or are there any alternatives?
I have also tried using Ubuntu with the Ubuntu Customization Kit however that didn't work either considering I have to have it in a virtual machine.

View 5 Replies View RelatedJust to reiterate on the title, the installation of Fedora 10 i386 (DVD) on a 32bit PC. Is failing on me after the media check (whether or not I do it), so not even making it to the language selection. Currently running a nvidia AGP video card was previously using an ati PCI card but swapping has done little to help.
The only argument that lets me passed this point is noprobe, which then fails a bit later as it can't pick up the install media. I've also tried a live CD which seems to be a bit hit and miss as to whether or not it even loads. It then either fails to even let me run the install to HDD or it comes up some error about failures in python code (Don't have the exact error as the last few times haven't even booted). Below is a couple of errors I get from the standard installer

Can I do a network install using a USB as the boot media. I couldn't find the steps in the long installation help. It explains how to make a livecd boot USB drive but nothing for USB. Please make it clear with exact steps. [URL] says that I have to copy diskboot.img from /Images in install cd but there is no such file. There is a install.img should that be used instead.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI live in a country where 1Mbit broadband is a premium service for large businesses. I am paying a little over $40 a month for a 128k connection with monthly capping. I want to download Fedora but the download is just huge for my connection, especially as it is used for work 14 hours a day. I have attempted the LiveCD and got the 'ext4 cannot be used for boot' error. I also have several other specialised distros on this machine and it's going to be a pain inserting a new boot partition just for Fedora.
Like it is possible with Slackware, can I just download the first CD of the Fedora 11 set and get a minimal install from this or does Fedora need the whole set of disks? Is there a simple enough net install option that I could use instead? I can't understand why they can't just release something like Ubuntu's alternate install CD.
I need to install Linux onto a board without a ethernet port. Normally I use Debian net install, so will net install detect a USB to ethernet converter from boot?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new hard drive so that I could convert my XP-only machine into an XP-Ubuntu-Windows 7 triple boot machine.Since the drive is absurdly huge (1 TB) I wouldn't mind throwing ReactOS into the mixtoo.I just found out that master boot records are limited to 4 entries, meaning 4 primary partitions. I had Windows XP set up on my old drive as a boot partition, a program files partition and a media partition. Since I really didn't want to install XP from scratch, I cloned this setup on my new drive.
This leaves me one MBR partition entry for installing Windows 7, Ubuntu and ReactOS. I'd like to avoid having to install XP from scratch like the plague, partly because it's supposed to be a safety net in case things go wrong with my other OS's and because I've invested a lot of time getting it set up exactly the way I like it.Here are the options I've considered and why I don't like them:Install Windows 7 on my media partition. This would work, but I prefer to keep my media partition completely separate from any OS, so that I can reformat an OS partition without affecting my media partition at all.
Use wubi or something to install Ubuntu in the same partition as something else. Again, this is brittle.Move all my media to a logical drive on an extended partition. Create another logical drive on this extended partition for Ubuntu. The problem here is that extended partitions are rather brittle--if you nuke one, it renders the rest useless.Just put the old drive back in my computer and run XP off it. Use the new one for the other OS's. The problem here is that the old drive is slower and uses extra power, generates extra heat, etc.
Does anybody know a good FLV player or even convertor? I have a few FLV videos that I would like to play in my Fedora 11, but they don't work with Dragon Player. So does anybody know how I can play them or at least convert them?

Trying to convert a midi file I created in Rosegarden into a wav file using Sound Converter. Snd Cnvrtr wants to load some gstreamer "bad" plugins, but they end up conflicting with "good" plugins and "ugly' plugins that had been loaded in the kernel (I think). Thought I might remove gstreamer and load up the "bad" plugins, but that meant removing a huge chunk of programming including Snd Cnvrtr. Anyone got any idea how I might do the conversion apart from Snd Cnvrtr? Either that or how I might get hold of the appropriate plugins to allow the midi to wav conversion to take place?
