View 4 Replies View RelatedTrying to convert a midi file I created in Rosegarden into a wav file using Sound Converter. Snd Cnvrtr wants to load some gstreamer "bad" plugins, but they end up conflicting with "good" plugins and "ugly' plugins that had been loaded in the kernel (I think). Thought I might remove gstreamer and load up the "bad" plugins, but that meant removing a huge chunk of programming including Snd Cnvrtr. Anyone got any idea how I might do the conversion apart from Snd Cnvrtr? Either that or how I might get hold of the appropriate plugins to allow the midi to wav conversion to take place?
View 1 Replies View Relatedi'm running Opensuse 11.2 with Gnome, and installed the "nautilus-image-converter" packages.
but it doesn't work on my system...
Is it the same thing for other GNome users ?
today I've tried to activate nautilus-converter-image package. due to some package's requirement I've thougth download last release about glib, pango and nautilus... trying install them I've got some errors (here, I've also give an ldconfig command) so at the end I've resigned and decided didn't install nautilus-converter-image. Thinking about replace original package I've reinstall the original. but after reboot when I clik "computer" o "network" icons in nautilus I get an error message like this.(translating) <Nautilus can't handle place "Computer" or "network">
Also I've seen when insert a media usb storage, I can't see in nautilus that device mounted, and also in /media is not present...Ok I know I has been too much superficial... but now It's really annoying problem..
I downloaded alien bob's soundconverter package from here: [URL] Unfortunately I can't figure out how to install it.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using Jessie. 64 bits. I have been using Sound Converter in other distros (LMDE, Ubuntu, etc) in the past.Jessie has Sound Converter 2.1.3. I think I have installed the needed codecs. When I try to convert from mp4 to mp3, the program gets stuck, and nothing happens. Other formats can be converted.
When I use SoundKonverter (also in Jessie, version 2.1.1) it works with no problem, converting from mp4 to mp3. Nevertheless I would prefer to use Sound Converter.
I followed this tutorial trying to fix vlc's converter and now I can no longer convert music to p4a(aac) with sound converter.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a whole bunch of songs in WMA and I would really like them in MP3. I paid for the songs and my husband really doesn't like downloading so that's not a option. I would really be upset if there were no way to get these back. I've tried to read a couple of sites but I don't understand any of it. Some people said to get Audacity but that program doesn't even open WMA...not even to import.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've had no trouble with it until attempting to add new music to my banshee music library and ipod. I've copied the music into my music folder and tried to convert to MP3 with sound converter but it keeps popping up with the warning "Cannot overwrite source files". I tried to convert the files to MP3 directly from the cd but that didn't work either.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been testing with the SoundConverter software and I want to write a script for it.Most music files on my pc are *.flac. But I want to convert some albums to my mp3 player with a script. Everything works fine. I do this:Code:soundconverter -b -m audio/mpeg -s .mp3 *.flacBut the quality is 128kbps.Is there any way to change the bitrate (in the terminal ofcourse)? And if this is not possible, is there an alternative that copies the tags correct like SoundConverter?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to get soundconverter to work on ubuntu 10.10, I've checked I've got all the restricted packages installed, gone into synaptic and installed a bunch of gstreamer stuff, downloaded and compiled the latest version of soundconverter but whatever I do, the following happens:
1. open soundconverter
2. open file (wav)
3. set to convert to mp3 (default)
4. Click convert and instantly get the ever so helpful "general stream error" message!
I was transferring data from one computer to my laptop and crash error came up on my laptop...
Error 1:
Nautilus-2.32.0-1.fc14 Reason: Process/usr/bin/nautilus was killed by signal 11 (SIGSEGV)
Error 2:
Openoffice.Org-Brand Crash
Reason: Process/usr/lib/openoffice.org3/program/soffice.bin was killed by signal (SIGABRT)
What could be the problem? Is it serious issue? I have been having security issues with Windows and are those issues begun once again? I have been under targeted attack since 2005.
I have Ubuntu 9.04 and just installed Sound Converter. I am trying to convert a bunch of .ogg files to mp3 to play on my iPod and it's not working so well. In the Sound Converter options I have is set to convert to high quality mp3. I choose the folder that the files are in and after a moment (slow laptop) Sound Converter populates, I hit 'convert' and it shows that the conversion completes in two seconds. All that it did was create the new folder structure of artist/album but there is nothing in there. Not sure what I am missing. I used Sound Converter before and it worked fine.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to do something very old, but for me very necessary. I am trying to get dial in acces via a modem that is connected via a usb <-> serial converter. I am running F14. The serial port is OK. I can run minicom and access the modem and even interogate it. What I am unable to do is to get the computer to answer. Much has changed and I have not dealt with upstart and things like that (if indeed that is needed).
I believe I"m OK with 115200 communicating with the modem. I know the device is /dev/ttyUSB0.
Is ther someone who can fill in the blanks? Or, point me towards really good documentation that explains how to do this.
I am trying to connect to a cisco console port using the usb to serial converter. I am using minicom and I changed me setting to reflect the USB converter cable, but it isn't working. I have set my baud rate to 9600, 8 data bits and no parity. Minicom acts as if it is connected (it doesn't give any errors), but there is nothing on the screen and nothing happens when I type. Also, I use the tail command and it sees the usb connector connected when I unplug it and plug it back in.

It may be lazy but if it takes a lot of navigation then it would be handy to somehow activate sudo from the open window without the terminal command (gksudo nautilus) which always begins at root.

Does anyone know how I can move the location bar in nautilus up by the toolbar, as shown by this pic:
http://i39.tinypic.com/2qdsyll.jpg
I'd rather not have to download the source of nautilus and edit the code / compile it myself.
By the way, a guy on Ubuntu Forums thought this was a mockup. It's not. It's the regular version of Nautilus, only I removed some toolbar buttons through the /usr/share/nautilus/ui xml files.
I just want the location bar next to the toolbar to conserve screen space, and be a bit more like Finder.
