View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed Fedora 11 I386 DVD. I use firefox. Usually, I will go through some websites in Chinese. The Chinese characters can be recognized and displayed. However, there are several font sizes and font types in the same line. Usually, the last character is much smaller than others.

Since I updated to Fedora 12, I've been using ibus-anthy to input Japanese.Unfortunately is lacking of handwriting input, something that scim was offering through scim-tomoe. Is there any chance to put Tomoe in use with ibus? Or any alternative solution that works on Fedora? I can't figure out how to use WriteRecogn btw.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI installed F12 few weeks ago and successfully upgraded it with yum (so that known PackageKit bug was gone). There was a few more successful updates until ibus update was out. ibus related packages can not update, another packages update without errors:

You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
Using --skip-broken doesn't sound good, so it's gonna be a last effort.
I need to write in Japanese, I know that I have to use iBus, but I don't know where to find it. I only know that it is installed, do you know where can I find it? I'm using Fedora 15

View 3 Replies View RelatedI update system today. Just before , everything is normal. Once it finished , I found that my KDE can't display some characters. I am a Chinese user. The English words are normal,. Just some Chinese characters can't be displayed. When I refreshed the browser, they can be displayed again but some of them are font default and some of them are font Yahei. And they are displayed messed together. It is not pretty. AND it is not only in browser, anywhere displayed Chinese characters looks the same as browser. How to change them back to default font as one font not two types of font messed together?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe would like to type simplified Chinese characters on FC11. gcim is installed, and it is selected as input method. We see that with ctrl-space input method changes, and we can select types with ctrl-shift. However, we cannot find a "normal" simplified Chinese,. If we type "WO" it pops up with 7 possibilities, witch is not enough as it suppose to drop over 50 .
View 3 Replies View Relatedi can input chinese in vim ,gvim,gedit ,and also zsh...., but i can't input chinese in bash and sh , i use ibus.
If i login with another account , i can input chinese in bash and sh !
i also diff the locale and env between the two account ,they are nearly the same;
example: when i input chinese ""i type "wq" and space,then bash print :
Display all 4063 possibilities? (y or n)
I've also tried:adding the font to local .fonts directory adding font to /usr/share/fonts simply clicking on the ttf file and then 'install' (which puts it in the .fonts directory) But nothing seems to help. As I haven't yet made 15 posts, I can't post a URL, but I'm trying to add Chinese fonts from the uni-heidelberg.de site. (A search on free chinese fonts will give the URL). The only installation hiccup I've noticed is that the font name, when the ttf file is clicked on in the gnome GUI, is (for a number of fonts, not just one file). I don't think that's the problem though.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a program that can simulate chinese watercolor style painting? I know gimp can apply some brushes and has water color, but in chinese watercoloring, you load different colors at the same brush stroke (kinda like a gradient with one color at the tip and changing towards the middle of the brush). I haven't been successful with gimp's brushes to have a nice smooth watercolor or painting stroke, it looks still computerized and "stepped"
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently installed the F12, but it cannot correctly show the Chinese file and directory names on a Windows partition with a fat32 file system. What shall I do?
The disk partition is mounted as
Code:
UUID=471D-E212 /mnt/d vfat umask=0022,uid=xxx,gid=xxx 0 0
in the /etc/fstab.
It features a built-in player and a channel guide with the ability to bookmark favorite channels. Currently the only available language is English, but I'm working with a few people to try and bring support for Japanese and Chinese as well. Let me know what needs improvement, and please, be honest. [URL] btw. Be sure to read the Installation notes on the website before you install.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI was messing around with the alternate character panel app and made a custom character set. I then wanted to put it on a new panel and created a new panel. I moved the character set to that panel, and then started to mess around with the panel settings (auto hide, show hide buttons, and expand, to be specific.) So far so good, until I moved the panel from the right side of the screen to the top. I already had a panel here, and it seemed not to like hiding a panel when there was already one on the top.
When the new panel hid itself, all my panels stopped responding (any clicks on them did nothing) and my processor started going at 100%. I tried a reboot and the only thing that changed is that now I can't even see my panels. I'm guessing I need to change the settings back manually through the prompt, but I don't know how to do that. I am using 10.04 and have not upgraded gnome since upgrading to 10.04.
I have a Canoscan LiDE 30 scanner which works fine in Linux. I haven't used it in months, and never since moving from Jaunty x86_64 to Fedora 11 x86_64. This evening I suddenly need to scan two pages to send to someone via e-mail, and the recipient is desperate to receive them. Naturally, Xsane has decided this is the moment to screw me.
The problem: I cannot figure out how to tell Xsane that the page size is 8.5 11. It insists on scanning only the left side, 3.99 x 11. I cannot find a page size anywhere in any of the buttons.
In Preview I once got it to scan the entire page, but could not figure out how to save the image to file. Subsequently I have not been able to figure out how I did it. In any event, scanning from the small main window always scans 3.99 x 11. Adjusting the scan area manually in the Preview window allows me to change the size area in the small main window to 8.5 x 11, but when I then scan from the small main window it reverts to 3.99 x 11.
I have scanned the document a hundred times at least, each time trying different buttons, but nothing has succeeded in getting the full page.

I am experiencing some difficulties accessing some of my drives which have folders/files whose names include special characters. That problem has appeared just now, in Fedora 11, and just in XFCE4 (it somehow got stuck with the English default). In neither GNOME nor KDE happens.
The problem is not narrowed down to Thunar because even the terminal fails to recognize the special characters in XFCE4.
I guess that is simply solved by editing some configuration file, but I can't seem to find it.
What do I need to do to allow XFCE4 recognize special characters?
EDIT: It's definitely XFCE4, because if I open Thunar or xterm from GNOME, they recognize special-characters-filenames very well.
I am having a problem with my web server. On index.html, it should say "Welcome to my website! More coming soon!" but instead, in Firefox, if I go through my server by going to eggbertx.linium.net or localhost, it shows this:
[Code]...
I know it isn't the file, because the file looks normal if I open it by going to /var/www/html/index.html I looked at /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf and it says that it is using UTF-8, which I'm pretty sure is normal. I don't remember it doing this before I installed kdewebdev and ran Quanta Plus, although I have no idea how it could have caused this. Has this happened to anyone else?
I have two machines in a local network and want to share files among them. Since I don't want to bother configuring NFS right now I am using ssh and scp to transfer files among them. There is a little problem though: the machines have different *nixes. One machine has Fedora 12 (Spanish) and the other one has PCBSD 7.1.1 (English).The problem is that both machines have different character encoding and while the Fedora machine can perfectly handle names with special characters, the BSD machine can't and in fact upon doing ssh to the Fedora machine filenames (with special characters) appear wrong and prove difficult to work with.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI currently do not have Wine. I have uninstalled it and plan to reinstall. The last time I had it on Fedora was like 2 days ago. I had a problem that was really irking me. I was playing Myth War 2 (which worked flawlessly on Ubuntu 10.10) and right after I started, I went to move my character in the game and I just froze. Wine would not do anything, so I force quit, restart and the same thing keeps happening over and over. I do not know what is going on. I have been told it is my graphics driver, but it is current and up to date.
