Fedora :: Fix For WPA2 TKIP Repeated Asking For Password?
Sep 24, 2009
I just wanted to get this out:
I have had this problem (entering the correct password and having Fedora repeatedly ask me for the password again) for a long time (since FC9) and have recently found what I believe to be a solution.
I know, you'll probably think it's extremely simple, but I just wanted to help any newbies to Fedora who might have the same problem as me.
Solution:
Right click on the Network Manager icon, and select "Edit Connections"
Go to the Wireless tab, and delete the entry for your wireless! Then manually re enter all of the settings.
This worked for me with a WPA2 TKIP connection, but it might work with a WPA2 AES also.

I am wondering if WPA2 encryption in openSUSE 11.3 YAST is actually TKIP or AES? My wireless router uses the later. I keep having the problem of wireless authentication window popping up.

First, I've dinked around with Linux b4 but never really considered it for an everyday desktop machine. After installing the ubuntu 10 release I have to say I am really impressed. This is going to be the kids homework machine!I had one challenge during the installation and that was getting wireless networking going. I set up Win XP first (to get the ndis driver and validate connectivity). After installing ubuntu I could not get the adapter (Netgear N300/USB) to connect to our router (D-Link DIR-825) using WPA2 and AES. Finally I got it to work after setting the router to only TKIP encryption. This works ok but causes the adapter to operate at a lower connection speed

When I start my laptop, the network manager tries to log on to my home network, apparently fails, and then brings up a screen offering me a space to enter the password for the home WPA2 network it's discovered.
Whether I enter the password when prompted or go into "Network Connections" and edit the password there the system always offers up a seemingly random 64 character string of numbers and letters instead of the true password. What's going on and how do I fix this?

I am running Ubuntu 10.04 on a PackardBell notebook and have just got an Orange Livebox 2 for broadband connection(after years of dial-up as no adsl in my area).
I am trying to connect via WiFi to the Livebox to configure, but neither NetworkManager nor Wicd will connect. NM sees the Livebox but simply fails to connect after trying; Wicd says "Bad password". The WPA2 password I have entered is definitely correct, and I have connected without any problem from an AcerOne under Linpus.
I have also tried to connect using Wicd and an ethernet cable, and this doesn't connect either, returning "Connection Failed: Unable to Get IP Address"

I am running Fedora 13 and using Ndiswrapper with my pci wireless card. my router is a netgear wgr614v9 wireless router with wpa2-psk. When I try to connect to my network the only options I see for security are dynamic WEP (802.1x) and WPA &WPA2 Enterprise and for authentication all I see is TLS LEAP Tunneled TLS and Protected EAP (PEAP). I can connect to my network when I drop security on the network but other wise I am stuck. I have been trying to fix it for about a week now by myself to no avail

Well this one is driving me nuts. I've been searching through the forums for a while and it seems that a number of folks have similar issues but the solutions used don't look like they apply to me. so without further ado here are the outputs typically requested:lspci

I keep getting a "bad password" error message when trying to connect via wpa_supplicant to a wireless network (Apple Time Capsule WPA/WPA2 mixed).
Here's my wpa_supplicant.conf:
Code:
And the relevant line in the /etc/network/interfaces file:
Code:
The Time Capsule log contains the following error message--
Code:
So perhaps the password is somehow getting lost in translation from Ubuntu to the Time Capsule?

I was using Fedora 14 for some months and my wireless was working fine. I've set up a hidden network with WPA2 Personal authentication. My laptop has an Atheros AR2413 802.11bg NIC and my modem/router is a Topcom Webracer. Yesterday I upgraded to Fedora 15 and I can't login to that network now. The only way to login again is to boot with the old Fedora 14 kernel that still shows up in my grub menu.I've searched this on these forums there are plenty of people with the same problem but the only suggestions are that the network card isn't supported by Fedora or the network card doesn't support 802.11bg.some suggest changing the authentication method in the router... and the only one who got it solved was by rebooting the router... None of this addresses the fact that the same hardware/network was working just fine in Fedora 14. And I still can't find a way to have a wireless WPA2 connection with Fedora 15.What can I do to fix it?

I use to have problems getting my wireless card to connect to any network on ubuntu. I discovered that I needed to change my encryption mode from Auto to AES or TKIP on my router. After I did this I was able to connect to my network with full wireless n support. I am using a d-link DIR-615 wireless n router. So far I know this works perfectly on 9.04-10.10 alpha.

I'm running Fedora 10 on a HP Compaq 6710b laptop. It is by far the best OS I have ever used and have no complaints, but I seem to be having some trouble with the wireless at work. The office has a single Cisco Aironet 1131 configured for WPA2 using AES with a PSK. The SSID is not broadcast. The mode is B/G mixed. My wireless card is a built-in Intel PRO 3945ABG, the driver is IWL3945 (auto configured during the OS install).
I use the Network Manager to manually add my SSID and select "WPA & WPA2 Personal" on the security tab and enter the PSK in the password field. After a few moments the wireless connects and appears to be working fine. About every 3-5 minutes while using the office network I get the "kernel error" dialog in the bottom right hand corner of my screen and the wireless drops connection. It re connects after about 30 seconds and appears to work fine until the next kernel error.

I am trying to enable wpa2 aes encryption on fedora. The wifi access was working fine with WEP and system-config-network but recently somebody hacked into my network and I had to switch back to wpa2 aes encryption. Looking at previous posts, I can see that a lot of people have used wpa supplicant and ndiswrapper to enable this. A post from 2006 even explains how to enable this: [URL]?t=93054 Using Add/Remove software, I have installed wpa_gui and ndiswrapper kernel module, but it doesn't work. I don't see my wlan0 in wpa_gui.

O currently have 2 USB WiFi adaptors: a Linksys WUSB54G v4 and a D-Link DWA-110. Both these USB adaptors worked extremely well in Windows: they could connect to any network: unsecured, WEP and WPA1/2I have tested these adaptors in DreamLinux, OpenSUSE and Mandriva: in these 3 distributions, i could use both adaptors to connect to my home's WPA2 network. Both adaptors also work well in Fedora 10.In Fedora 11 Alpha though, its a different thing: only the D-Link is able to connect to the home WPA2 network. My Linksys WUSB54Gv4 can 'see' the network, but when i enter in the WPA2 key, it takes forever to try to negotiate a connection before timing out and disconnecting.

NetworkManager is a powerful tool for setting up a wlan connection, especially if you connect the laptop to multiple access points. One drawback is that the user accounts must be given access to the pass
phrase. Another is that there is no wlan connection in run level 3, because nm-applet is an X application. If you connect to the same access point all the time, e.g., your own wireless router, a permanent connection via ifcfg might be more convenient. It is controlled by root. All user accounts have wireless access without knowing the underlying details. Further, there is a wireless connection in run level 3. After a lot of trial and error and Google searches, I was able to put together this guide by splicing together one step used in Slackware (from Alienbob's web page) with other steps outlined in this online article http://home.roadrunner.com/~computer...hwireless.html.
It is assumed that the appropriate kernel module for the wlan card is installed and that
$ iwconfigshows a viable wlan0 interface. We are using DHCP. (If using static IP, edit ifcfg-wlan0.)The following steps work on a Compaq Presario F756NR notebook with a Atheros AR242x 802.11abg WLAN card using the ath5k kernel module (without madwifi). I am using 64-bit F12. All commands are executed as root.1. $ yum install wpa_supplicant dhclientProbably already installed, especially dhclient. If so, skip.2. $ cd /etc/sysconfig && vi wpa_supplicantInsert the following lines:
INTERFACES="-iwlan0"
DRIVERS="-Dwext"
OTHER_ARGS="-f /var/log/wpa_supplicant.log"
[code]....

I have a problem with my RT2860 in my Eee PC 901 running F13. It connected fine in F12 when I installed the akmod-rt2860 driver. I enter my WPA key, then it tries to connect, but the WPA key screen appears again saying that I may have typed in my WPA key incorrectly. However, I checked and it is the right WPA key.

Its seems Fedora 11 on eee pc 1000h cannot connect to any wireless type(Open, WPA2, WPA or WEP) of a hidden network(non broadcasting SSID). Though it can connect to visible ones(broadcasting SSID), since my college is on a hidden network this a problem for me. Though I can't really test if its just fedora 11 or rpmfusion drivers for it 1000h model related problem.

I am using the Fedora 13 Live USB on my Gateway MT6451 laptop. All the major things you want to work on a laptop with linux actually work! Even my Broadcom wireless card! But even though I can see wireless networks and connect to ones that are open with no problem, I can't actually connect to my Hidden WPA2 network. I put all the information in and it connects, shows a good signal, but doesn't acquire the correct IP. I have a 192.168.X.X address range on my network, but it shows a 10.X.X.X ip and no Gateway address.
If I can get this one thing working I will definitely be installing Fedora.

Ubuntu is repeatedly crashing on me. It seems to be Xorg crashing, but apport only reports that various apps are crashing. The screen will go blank with a blinking dash cursor in the upper left. Then a dialog box will popup and say that xorg is running in low resolution mode. I can click ok and everything comes back up fine, but any running apps are gone.

I noticed with the recent version of Ubuntu, 10.10 that the drop down menus, when selected the sub menus doi not appear straight away. I have to repeatedly go up and down the menu until they appear. They often open a blank box and sometime once selected leave the menu on the screen. This happens on all my machines.

U1 is trying to sync a file which doesn't exist on any of the devices attached to the account nor in the cloud folder. I've tried using U1sdtool to stop it, including the following commands:
I've also tried actually creating a file of the same name that it keeps trying to sync in the hopes that it will latch onto that one instead, but no go. I tried deleting that file, but no go. It constantly loops through the same nonexistent file, over and over and over and over and over...
It also only does this on one device. It does not do that on the other devices.
And, yes, I've done u1sdtool --waiting, and there is the nonexistent file, on the list, with all of the real files that actually do need to be synced backed up behind it.

after having some boot issues not so long ago, i was pointed in the direction of rescatux, which solved my problem at the time. now im having a number of other issues. i am dual booting isodora mint and lucid ubuntu.when my lucid distro is working, it often becomes totally unresponsive during everyday tasks and when i go to restart (or any of the other options) from the shut down menu, i get the window appearing blank.upon rebooting (by pressing ENTER, which works even though there are no buttons within the window), it tells me to either insert boot media or there is a grub failure. this happens almost every session on the computer.
on the times when it says 'insert boot media', generally speaking turning it off for an extended period tends to work. the times when a grub failure occurs, going through rescatux's rescap leads to no other partitions being identified at least 90% of the time.is this something that anyone recognizes the signs for and can offer me a solution? or does this sound like an intermittent hardware problem?

I have an output file that looks like this:
Quote:
Now if you see the first line:
Status for ACCOUNT_MISSING_FRM_RCIS_LINK- mismatch
Status for ACCOUNT_MISSING_FRM_RCIS_LINK is ACCOUNT_MISSING_FRM_RCIS_LINK- does not exist in DB
This should appear just once as :
Quote:
The same goes for last line.
For further information the ACCOUNT_MISSING_FRM_RCIS_LINK is a table name and it row count is taken from a log and then Database checked for the rowcount to see if it is a match, mismatch,or the table does not exist!
I am getting the desird output just that i need to do something to this output file.
