I am trying some time now to get drobox going. After resolving problems with the repo-file it is now downloading fine then stops unpacking by 97 %. I tried using threads which tell that it is selinux which does not give permissions for the install. Trying to block selinux during the installation has not worked out. Is there a way to get it going it is something I do need every day?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had a hell of a time with an extremely unpredictable recently built computer. I don't even know where to start with thetory, so I'll try to share some key facts.Running Fc12It is a Gigabyte GA-EP45T-UD3LR. Reviews on NewEgg havee complaints about instability and it's lack of claimed DDR3 support. I had to use setting described by another reviewer to underclock my memory to get it to work. It has since passed memtest many times.I've encountered mutliple occasions of a complete system freeze.
Booting after freeze seems to require a random amount of restarts to get it to come up. Sometimes I have to hit the reset button 30+ times until I can get the log in prompt to come up.Right now, I have one SATA HDD, in IDE compatibility mode in the system. dropped the FC12 Stable dvd in, the very DVD I installed the current system with, to install it again on another partition. I get to the same point every time, where it hangs:"trying to unpack rootfs image as initramfs"Googling that didn't help me much, since it mostly seemed to address people messing with their own kernel builds.
If I choose "boot from local drive" on the options list from the install DVD, it goes to "PRESS ANY KEY TO REBOOT" with a blinking underscore cursor. Where when I boot normally, it will either give me JUST the blinking underscore alone, or the FC loading screen with no progress. I suspect this motherboard is a pile of **** and needs to be RMA'ed, or simply returned. Anyone care to support or reject that hypothesis?
I've been looking for a good alternative to Dropbox - just a little too pricey for me. And I just discovered Amazon Cloud Drive. Has anyone here had any luck setting up some sort of automated backup solution using Amazon Cloud Drive? I've been all over their site, but I just don't see any other way to access the cloud drive other then via their web interface.
Optimally, I am looking for a solution that will allow me to simply set up an rsync script or similar that would sync up a folder to a cloud drive every few days. Maybe their S3 tools can be used to do this?
Is there a way to share files over a VPN with a Dropbox type download system? I want the files to be able to update to a local file on the clients when updated on the server.

After I installed dropbox, a window popped up asking me for administrator's password....I put in my user password and it said wrong password (i just now remembered not adding myself to administrator's group while creating my user...ouch!) after which a notficiation came and went too fast for me to read it properly....it said something like unable to set user /etc/x something something.....I know it sounds completely vague but that is all I could before it disappeared.
Now, nautilus won't open unless I click on the dropbox icon below in the taskbar.I guess I can manage for a while but I'm hoping to find a solution to the problem.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a new install of OpenSuse 64-bit. I've stumbled around blindly and seem to have installed Dropbox using dropbox-lnx.x86_64-1.1.24.tar.gz. It apparently worked because I was able to enter successfully my Dropbox log-on information.
I have no idea what to do next. There's no indication of any synchronisation in Dolphin. Dropbox installation in Ubuntu/Mint is a no-brainer but this has me stumped.

I have been using dropbox to sync across three ubuntu machines (two with 9.04, one with 10.04) and a windows vista machine, for about six months. I've seen a couple of oddities but am basically very happy with it. I pay for their 50GB store.
For email I use mutt and download (fetchmail) separately onto two of the ubuntu machines, outside the dropbox folders. It's a bit irritating maintaining two different mail dirs, but it does make for more security. I'm now thinking about putting the mail dirs into the dropbox folder. But if something then goes wrong with the syncing, it will be serious.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a series of system usability bash scripts that I sync with dropbox (and share with other friends that I have set ubuntu up on) and then have those folders sym linked to ~/bin. The problem is, when I change something on one computer, the scripts lose executability on other computers. First, I guess I will ask, is there a way to stop this from happening?
Failing that, is there a way that I can have Dropbox's events monitored so that when something is updated, it runs a script on my Script folder adding 'chmod +x' to all the bash scripts. This is the simple nautilus-script that I am currently using to easily batch change the modes:

whether it's safe to install Dropbox in Ubuntu 10.04. Here is my issue. I installed dropbox and removed it. I noticed in the first start of dropbox it installs a daemon called dropboxd. Is dropboxd removed when you uninstall? I uninstalled and purged. I just want to make sure the daemon is gone as well. Trying to be as tidy as possible. Less code rolling around the better.
Ok I have used dropbox for a long time but never had an issue but since recently switching to Ubuntu it seems that when I download a file and drag it into my dropbox the file shows in dropbox but it doesn't seem to be applying ...after dragging it into dropbox in the upper right hand corner of the file there is a blue circle with two white arrows in it while all existing files that I out into dropbox prior to using Ubuntu are there and accessible and have a green checkmark in the upper right hand corner..

I do have Openbox with the Tint2 panel installed and no icon there either. Dropbox never did ask me about my DB account information. This is the 64bit version.
