I was using Fedora 14, and yum works. However websites like [URL] don't unless I open a terminal and type "ping google.com" then copy that ip address into the web browser.
This doesn't seems to be JUST a fedora issue. I haven't tried fedora 15 alpha, but OpenSuse 11.4 seems to have the same exact problem except Zypper/yast don't work.
Many of yum's servers don't work but eventually after a couple of failures to accept the connection it finally works. Very odd. I tested the latest Kubuntu and it does work as does my windows partition.
(I should also add that this problem also exist in virtualbox).
I just installed Fedora 15 and everything is working ok except i can't connect to some websites such as facebook or hotmail. I tried doing the same on windows and everything is ok there. I've been searching through forum about this problem but nothing seems to help. Has anyone else had this kind of problem and managed to fix it?
I have installed Fedora 10 and centos 5.3 on 30 system in my home office. everything works fine except accessing https websites. the problem persists in both centos and fedora even after changing firefox versions. what's worse is the problem is not resolved after changing other browsers. so the problem is not browser-centric. i think it has something to do deeper in fedora and centos. also note that i have disabled firewall and selinux but in vain. the problem is still there across all the systems. it's really a show-stopper for me.
I have got a small queston: I have got several websites and some time ago I decided to delete some of them. As a result there is no virtual hosts on my web server, but if I will go to my_old_website dot ru I will be redirected to one of my current web sites (or if I will paste an ip address in browser), I want to know, how to block this?My virtual host's looks like this now:
I've run into a couple of issues that appear to be related to PulseAudio. First, since I upgraded to FC13 a couple of weeks ago, I get no sound from flash on websites. Yesterday, I had a need to record some audio into my computer via the mic input. So, I installed Audacity, but it couldn't see the signal coming in, even though it was playing from the sound source. I did a bit of digging and found a note on the PulseAudio website that said that Audacity didn't work with PulseAudio. So, I removed PulseAudio, rebooted for good measure, and under ALSA, Audacity was able to record from the mic input.
When I was finished recording, I started Amarok playing, and I could see the progress indicator moving across the interface, but there was no sound. I checked the mixer, but nothing was muted, and the audio from Audacity was working just fine. So, I reinstalled PulseAudio. Today, I needed to do more recording, so I pulled off PulseAudio once more. I did my recording, and then tried Amarok once more without PulseAudio, with the same results. It occurred to me that I should try a website with flash and see if those work without PA installed. Indeed they do.
So here's what I have: Audacity can't record from the mic input with PA installed. Amarok doesn't produce sound without PA installed Flash websites don't make sound with PA installed This all worked while I was using FC12 (though I never tried Audacity), and I've only had problems since I upgraded to FC13.
recently I have bought a new wireless router and now I have problems connecting to some (secure) websites. I can't login to gmail and facebook while I am still able to connect to these sites using my old router. I have also tryed to connect to these sites using my new router on windows and it worked with no problem. It is really strange for me, although I don't know that much about networking. I am using Fedora 13 and a TP-Link (TD-W8901G) Wireless router and I have these problems using both wired, and wireless connections with this router.
I have dual boot Fedora 8/XP. My net seams to be moody only in my fedora sometimes I have wait as long as 30 sec for the page to load where as in my windows it's fine no such delay. This happens randomly yesterday night I had tough time accessing this forum (in addition to other sites) now it's working fine.
I have installed windows server 2003 on my computer, and i can surf the internet with my gui-based web browsers.
I have also installed vmware workstation 6.5 on the same computer, and successfully installed fedora 12 in vmware, with network is bridged.
I can successfully ping websites at the command line, e.g., ping [url], it did get replies with time and ttl, but i can't open the websites with firefox or conquerer browsers.
I develop many websites at the time in php, so I created virtual hosts in apache. In order for them to work properly I edited /etc/hosts like thisQuote:
10.50.2.105hal.mundohal# Added by NetworkManager 127.0.0.1localhost.localdomainlocalhost ::1hal.mundohallocalhost6.localdomain6localhost6
First some specs: F13 NetworkManager Applet 0.8.3.998 Driver r8169 Opera 11 and Firefox 3.6.16
Recently my ISP switched to PPPoEand since then my internet connection has been giving me problems. While browsing, some websites load fine, some websites load fine after I refresh once or twice, some load really slowly and the formatting tends to be messed up and some websites won't load at all (they stop at waiting for website...). Ping for all of these sites is however fine. Also uploading and downloading either from sites like rapidshare or using torrents is also fine. The same ISP also provides a second similar connection which is connected through a wireless router to two computers (one via a wired connection and one through wireless) both running Win 7 and everything works fine over there.
Things I've tried. I tried using the router changing it's setting to my connection and connecting through that but the problem remains. After googling I thought it might be an MTU issue so tried this:
ping -M do -c 3 -s 1464 www.myce.com and got PING myce.com (212.204.237.148) 1464(1492) bytes of data. 1472 bytes from www.myce.com (212.204.237.148): icmp_seq=1 ttl=47 time=129 ms 1472 bytes from www.myce.com (212.204.237.148): icmp_seq=2 ttl=47 time=129 ms 1472 bytes from www.myce.com (212.204.237.148): icmp_seq=3 ttl=47 time=130 ms --- myce.com ping statistics --- 3 packets transmitted, 3 received, 0% packet loss, time 2133ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 129.261/129.683/130.044/0.436 ms
This works for various websites whether they load or not. My MTU is set at 1492 but I've tried various lower numbers all the way down to 1300 but no luck. I tried disabling ipv6 in Firefox but no change.
Sometimes when I try to view a website, I get this: [URL]. Is this a problem with DNS? I'd say this happens maybe 3% of the time I try to view pages, and always at the most obnoxious times possible. (Clicking the "facebook.com" link it recommends simply takes me to the same page again, by the way).
I am facing a problem concerning secure websites where I get the "Connection Reset" error in browser after a timeout of I think 1 minute.
OS: Fedora 14 ( I faced same problem with Ubuntu 10.10 )Browsers: Chrome and Firefox
The issue is not there on Windows using Chrome and Firefox so I believe this is a problem with how linux manages secure connections. I can access all the google secure websites too. There a few other websites apart from facebook.com that I know which I am unable to access.
I'm having a problem loading websites after a yesterday's "yum update" on F13. Before that everything worked fine but now when I open a browser, websites only load for about 2 seconds, after which any website I open just goes into a constant loading loop. I tried disabling the IPv6, as some threads suggested but it didn't help and pages still won't load. It happens on Opera and Firefox, so the problem seems not to be browser related. The connection is fine too, as I it works ok under Windows.
Having one issue with evolution not showing html websites showing up in email like verizon sending a promo. I have gone to edit, preferences, mail preferences, html messages and have always load images from the internet chosen. I have also added sender to contacts. Even if I right click message and tell it to dload images it doesn't.
I have a Fedora 13 box setup to serve webpages for our company's intranet and Nagios 3.2.3.I just recovered from failed upgrade by doing a fresh install and restoring the files that I backed up before doing the update, yeah for planning this... Ok after restoring the backup I re-installed apache, php, mysql, nagios and a few other software. So I have everything setup. Made the proxy to go through our firewall, disabled SeLinux (nothing can come in the server unless requested). Most of the webpages are working, I have a Joomla install that works without a itch. But others are "Forbiden" including Nagios. Here's nagios.conf from /etc/httpd/conf.d/You'll see it's the standard install...

I've got a problem in doing sudo working for mounting things (e.g. usb pen or optic discs). Details:The OS: Slackware 13.0The response to sudo -l command:
Code: User user1 may run the following commands on this host: root) /sbin/shutdown -h now, /sbin/shutdown -r now
I reinstalled fedora the other day, and it's been working just fine, apart from the internet. It shows that I have a full connection with the wireless network, but it's really difficult to actually load a page. 80% of the time it just fails and shows "Page Load Error". It's really frustrating because it is connected to the internet. In fact, the icon in the address bar even loads from the site I try to access, but websites just will not load.
I've tested my wireless internet with another laptop which is running vista, and it works perfectly on that. Also, I'm running Fedora 10 on an Acer Extensa laptop.
what change in route table in Fedora 12 and 13, i have a route 2 links and its only works for fedora 11, in fedora 12 and 13 somethins change and my routes not works. Some know what i have to do to its works fine ?
Today I've installed Fedora 15 and I don't know what to do. I always use ctrl+c/ctrl+v/del shortcuts and now only ctrl+c works perfectly. The ctrl+v and del not works. So what am I doing wrong?
UPD Ok I reasigned shortcut from Ctrl+Del to Del key. But problem with Ctrl+V is persist.

I use the TV + HDMI cable. Versions tested 32BITS/64BITS (stay with x64) has no disk error. already downloaded several times. MD5 is correct well ... I'll start here with my concerns ... version 9.04 onwards does not work gives blackscreen. I think "forgotten" by the generic drivers for ATI or something that influences the video. it does not show. 9.10,10.04,10.10 none of those versions worked ... on other computers functioned normally. I found researching how to dribble and go to live. and thus unable to install. but does not work after the pc restarts. Linux does not. shows nothing ... goes to black screen with the (- FLASHING) but nothing else happens.
I have updated my laptop HP Pavilion dev7 to fedora 11. However, samba does not works properly. I can see share folders to mother machines, but not the shares in the laptop from other machines. The most annoying problem is that system-config-samba crashes. I run it as user, with sudo or su , but nothing.
